The May 2007 Rate/Code Watch

As anyone gotten standard rooms at moderate resorts, mainly coronado spring resort at an ap rate? I am going 5/16 and they told me only king size were available?
This morning I booked CSR standard room for 5/17-5/19 at the AP rate.

Ok so disregard that last post :) Just called back a few minutes ago and the Disney Rep I talked to was great! With a little digging she found us a standard room at CSR! so for our 10 day trip we are saving a total of $400! We've also saved up $554 through disney rewards, quick rewards, and sunshine rewards!! WOOHOOO!!!

Why won't they give me a standard? lol This is the fifth time I've called! I'm only checking in one day before

Try booking a king for the first night and then moving to a standard for the rest of the stay. If other people have gotten it starting one day later, it could be that there aren't standards available on your first night.

I had to do a split stay to get the AP rate at WL. We booked 3 nights woods view, 5 nights courtyard. I'm not thrilled about moving rooms mid-trip, but I am pretty happy to have gotten the AP rate so I'll take what I can get! :)

Hey I'm happy with my 2 ASMu rooms....orginally wanted ASM jr suite... switched it to POR and now back at ASMu...LOL.. man this is the first time for AP for us....so I was a little lost.. but THANK goodness I got a super nice sweet lady named Faith who helped me through it all and tried and tried her best to get me the best rate at either POR or Cont. or AS... she did a GREAT job... I AM HAPPY!!!:cool1: :cheer2:

2 glorious weeks in Disney with DM, DS-12,DD-11 and DD-7(&8) May 7-21!
Celebrating DD-7 Birthday on the 11th and then of course Mother's day!!:dance3:

This will be my mother's first trip ever!! So she is super excited.... and only our second trip so we are super excited as well.... is it always like this for Disney freaks????? Just making sure I'm not really Crzy LOL:rotfl:

Well, I've tried 3 times to get AKL standard view and each cm has said that standards aren't available with this AP deal. :confused3 So, I'll just keep trying.:goodvibes

Isn't it just the greatest thing ever???? DW and I are going on our second trip in May but we didn't get on board with the AP's. DW absolutely loves the dining plan so we opted not to go for the AP's. We thought that we'll do it up real nice (within our budget of course ;) ) and when we go back after we have a family then we'll pinch the penny a little harder.

Congrats on getting what you were looking for and enjoy your 2 weeks there! We'll be there for 2 weeks as well and are REALLY looking forward to it! T minus 65 days....

The AP rates are probably not available during the dates you're requesting. I just booked AKL standard for 5/11-5/15 at the FL resident rate which seems to be in the same block as the AP rates. I had checked on the following week (5/18-5/22) and there was NOTHING at all available at AKL. I originally tried to book WL but they only had Courtyard bunk bed rooms available at the FL res rate for the first set of dates and NOTHING at all for that week. There may actually be rooms available but not at the FL resident or AP rate.;)

So for anyone who has stayed at AKL standard, how bad are the views...are they dumpster views?? Are they noisey rooms? These are my biggest fear of a standard. This is actually our first stay at AKL, I've been wanting to try it for a few years now so here goes. We're always there to go to JIKO, so I figured let's give it a try.

What???????????????? I just booked 3 night AKL Standard room, 184.50 per night that includes tax title and tag.

Keep calling
:confused3

I got an absolutely wonderful CM this afternoon. I have a ressie for CR MK View and have been calling for an AP rate. This afternoon the CM woked very hard and got me rates for the first two days which are Friday and Saturday and he said were the hardest to get. He said to keep checking back every morning for any rooms put back into the system. Two days down and six more to go. If you haven't gotten what you want, keep trying.

I just tried again to get an AP rate for the Poly, but still none are available. GF and WL AP rates are still available, but I am not willing to change - I'll pay rack if I have to. Anyway, just wanted to let you know. I am going to keep trying for that rate. . .never know when something might open up! :thumbsup2

Have a great day everyone! :teeth:

I agree with many others here. If you can't get what you are looking for on your first try keep on calling. I was on on the phone at 7 AM sharp yesterday morning looking for a standard room at CSR and the disney rep told me only king rooms were available. I called about three times yesterday and once this morning. I tried again this afternoon and one had opened up! I was beyond extatic as it is now saving us $400!!!! :) Keep on trying and good luck :)

I plan on going to WDW May 24th for a few days before we go to grandpa's house. Does anyone have any discount rates. AAA had the same rate for All Star Movie as did Disney online.
Thanks

Are the any room only discounts out for mid May?? We are booked on a 7 day land/sea package and i want to add a few days on with discount..Thanjs for any info!:cutie:

Please help--I am new to this and I am totally lost. If you purchase the AP, which from what I recall is about $493, it does not include admission to the waterparks, disney quest, etc. We are traveling May 27-June 5, 10 days, and have a package booked for four for $1902, with a free water park, park hopper option update from a previous code. If I were to purchase the AP, I would actually be losing some of my benefits. So is the AP really the way to go for someone who wants to visit the water parks, etc. and getting the free upgrade??? I would think the value would be for those who wanted room only reservations. ??? Thanks for any guidance here.

DW and I are/were in the same boat. I did the math prior to our trip and if I remember correctly it would have been pretty close between the two discounts. We have the dining plan and we're pretty big fans of that so we didn't want to give that up just to save a couple bucks on the room.

If I were you I'd be checking your math because the AP codes (if you can get an AP room) might save you some money. The math might be a little more complicated but here's what I'd be trying:

Scenario 1:
1 AP, 3 base tickets (not sure how many adults or kids...)
Room only ressie w/ AP discount

Scenario 2:
1 AP, 3 premium tickets (again....)
Room only ressie w/ AP discount

Scenario 3:
Your current package

What you really need to figure out is if the premium tickets will actually be saving you money. I believe on a 10-day premium pass you need to visit a waterpark or DQ at least twice to get it to pay for the waterpark option. I can't remember how many times you need to park hop.

One place I would suggest checking out is www.wdwtoday.com; they do podcasts from there and one of the recent ones was on annual passes. You might get some good info from them. They also did an episode (#206) I believe that answered some listener questions...one of which being mine about which episodes to listen to prior to going on your trip. They mentioned in there about another episode that deals with AP's; I listened to it and they did the math and figured out "break-even days" for a couple different scenarios. If you have time, check them out because they have a TON of knowledge.

Hope this helps...feel free to PM me if you have any questions!

The real value of an AP comes going to WDW more than once per year saving in park admission over the course of the year not in room discounts over other available options.

AP room discount isn't the best choice for everyone.

There is a premium AP but that is even more expensive. I think AP does off you water park discounts? Not 100% sure of that and if you can get a discount for more than the pass holder. I think you're likely better off with the package you have now.

Just changed our ressie for AKL 5/13-5/19

Original AAA package $2372 2A 1C w/7 day hoppers

Same room w/AP discount, purchase 1 AP, + 7 hoppers for 1A 1C (thru undercover tourist) $2056

For $316 less I'm getting the same room and an AP instead of a 7 day hopper. Giving up DDP, plan on getting DDE, which will probably work out better for us anyway!

:disrocks: :dance3: :yay:

Edited to add: I had the BEST CM on the phone - believe it or not, her name was California! She stayed on the phone and did the math with me to help me decide if this was worth it or not. Wish I could get someone like her on the phone everywhere I call!!
Never would have known about it if not for this board!!

Did the $2,372 include DDP?

Did the $2,372 include DDP?

Entire package including DDP was about $2905 (give or take a few dollars - I don't have everything in front of me). Subtracting DDP out, just the room and 7 day hoppers as about $2372-ish. Frankly I had been going back and forth about DDP and still wasn't sure if I was going to leave it on the package or not. Now I won't have to decide. I really wasn't sold on it working for our family, so if I can get this discount and maybe DDE (which I have to do some research on) I think it'll work out better.

And an AP is a GREAT excuse for another trip...;)
