And here’s what I made for me last night:

I love that pattern. What pattern is it? I was looking for patterns for me to make me a couple of shirts for WDW, but got bored and left Wal-mart. Probably due to the fact I have a broken foot and was putting around on their motorized carts and that made my foot hurt, so I left.

DRAATS!

My "subject" is asleep so I can't try this princess skirt on her. I DID measure the elastic around her waist WHILE she slept :rolleyes1

I'm doing the "Sewing for Dummies" pattern (Simplicity #4206). I have to say, I love all the extra tutorials included in the pattern instructions. It has extra tips and doesn't assume you know ANYthing...perfect!

I know this is off topic, but my dd is sick! She's not yet 3 and she was throwing up a couple days ago and has been having fevers off and on. Now she has a measles looking rash alllllll over her body. I don't think it's heat rash. Great! I'm taking her to the kid's Insta Care a little later. I just get so worried when my kids are sick. Goodness only knows what the sam-hill this is. Send a little pixie dust and especially prayers if you want.

utahmama--I hope she feels better. My little one just had this and hers was roseola. She had a a few days of high fever which came out of nowhere and then she broke out in the rash all over. Have you gone to the dr yet.?Either way,I hope she feels better soon, its no fun for the little ones to be sick, but its not much fun for us parents either, lol

I don't get why the outlines and the fill ins are just a tad "off"??? Like in the Donald face. Why oh why did that happen? :scared1: Even a little off would probably drive me to drink (not really).

It's a ROBOT! It should fill in the lines perfectly!

popcorn::

P.S. I think Minnie looks pretty with red-lipstick and a white tongue!

Obviously the machine has a mind of it's own. I finally got it to monogram. That was fun. But it does get better the more you play with it. And maybe I wanted Minnie to have red lipstick...:rolleyes1

I think it has alot to do with the stabilizer.

AND WHAT"S WITH THE POPCORN? ARE YOU TRYING TO START SOMETHING????

oh, I would like to make one of those shirts where the mickey head is made from rhinstones..LOL do I need a bedazzler or something like that to do that?
:lmao: my list for ther craft store is getting bigger & bigger

This was the first pattern I tried and I also appreciated how everything was explained. I hope your peanut is feeling better soon!

I have one I just drew. If you can't find one, pm me and I'll scan it in and send it to you.

They're not mistakes: they are bits of love sewed in! I think you did a great job!

Little bits of love. I like that!:thumbsup2 I'm going to use that line!

ESAB Do you still have the pattern for the rhinestone mickey's? If it is okay, would you post it for us? Pretty please? :flower3:

It sounds like strep throat. Sometimes you can get a rash if your fever is high enough, plus vomiting is usually a sign of strep throat or a stomach bug. HTH, I'm a pediatric nurse. And I hope your angel feels better soon.

Not a Disney outfit, but I had a ton of this material so I gave it a go. I am having a heck of time attaching the skirt to the tshirt material. Even going very slowly - it still bunched up in places. I have gone back and fixed some of it. Any tips to make this easier and look better? BTW, in this picture, the dress is a little crooked, I didn't fix it before I took the picture.

And, I have to add -- you other newbies are doing way better than me. I'll keep trying though!

A "walking foot" presser foot is what you need to make the knit fabrics feed through your machine smoothly and evenly.

I'm NOT trying to scare you by saying this ... ok?!
I could be totally wrong & it could be something totally different causing it ...

but when my machine started doing this very same thing = not filling in where it should have been = the embroidery arm was "OFF" and basically had to be replaced. ("arm" = the part that grabs onto the embroider hoops & helps move it around under the needle, if it's not moving in time/right = the stitches don't fall where they should.)

In my case (singer XL-6000), I could just get a new embroidery unit & swap it out on the machine's base unit :)
Thank goodness it was still covered by the warranty ...
IF it had happened about 1 month later = I would have been looking for "miracle money" to get it running again ...
The ONLY time we can figure it MIGHT have gotten goofed up / caused it to do this = one day it was running on its own & my 3 yr old walked by, looked at it weird for awhile, then reached out & stopped the arm from moving for almost 30 seconds ... The machine reeeally didn't like that. It flashed a weird error # on the screen, rebooted ... then SEEMED FINE = but about 3 days later, it slowly started "going off track" like the example you showed.

But it was weird! It would act fine on simple lettering and flowers, etc. (mostly pre-programmed stuff was fine & some custom designs, but not all) = but anything that reeeally had to be lined up over & over like lines around a color or whatever = it would freak out again ... I had to go to TWO warranty centers before I found someone that had seen a machine do this before & knew why.

Just thought I'd share ...
IF it's not the artwork/embroidery file itself = I would almost bet money that it's probably the embroidery arm ...
PERHAPS CONSIDER : check your warranty ... &/or check to see if you can return or exchange it for a new one right away.

good luck ...

Sometimes, the big repairs like that, are simply not worth it, since a new machine is cheaper than the repair bill ...

good luck ...

I wonder if it is the file or the machine. On monogramming it works, and on the Cinderella letters it works, but it did get off on the preprogrammed files. It ripped a couple of shirts, so it might be the machine. I can exchange it here if I need to. I wonder if it is just this brand of machine? Or it could be again, the stabilizer I used. They dont carry the brother stabilizer here so I had to use the iron on interfacing. That could have been my mistake.

Has anyone seen this fabric? The only place I found it, it is out of stock. Grumble grumble.

UtahMama, I hope your little one feels better soon.

Did you try tear away stabilizer yet? ...
I think you're right, though =
IF it's not the embroidery files, it's probably the machine.

Where did those emb. files come from?
Did that machine ever do them properly before?
Have you had a bad run of one design then start that same design over FRESH =
IF SO : Did it goof up at the same spot or in a different spot the second time? ...
It's not an exact diagnosis, but I was told = IF it goofs up the same spot, it's more likely to be the emb. file. ... IF it goofs up in a different spot, it still could be the file, but is more likely the emb. arm unit.

Something's not syncing up right.
If it's not the data telling the arm where to move the fabric, then it's mostly the arm trying to move it where it should be & just isn't making it in time.

I feel for ya, hon. You pay so much for something & it does not work as it should.
I'm glad you can exchange or return it ... if need be, though :)
"It could have just been bumped weird in the factory, that does not mean they are were, ya know." is what one repair guy told me ...
PERHAPS, Try another machine, it might work perfectly for ya. :)
That worked for me.

I'm just finishing a dress using those fabrics!! DD loves the cows (so do I!!!)

I will try it again and see if I'm the problem. The emb files I used were in the machine already. You may be right about it being the machine. Maybe they dropped it.

That's what I tell my kids anyway! DS has me in stitches when he was telling the lady cutting fabric that I liked to sew but I wasn't very good because it took me "like a whole week" to finish a project. I thought I was doing pretty good! :rotfl:

Hey! That's what the rash looks like from my google research. It is worse when she's hot and sweaty. It nearly goes away when she's cold. Thanks for the support and well wishes!

;) (hee-hee) Uh, no....Just that ROBOT's aren't supposed to make mistakes. :cool2: Especially expensive disney robots who should know better. :3dglasses Maybe I LIKED the red lipstick and white tongue on Minnie. :rolleyes1

You guys!!!! Thanks for the support and help. I appreciate it. Ok, I'm thinking that's a definite possibilty! Because of the vomiting I'd say.

A few of you wished her well, and I didn't quote ya, sorry!!!! She woke up from her nap feeling awesome and LOVES her new twirly princess skirt. I'm relieved she's not feverish.

Ok, go sew something!

Somebody posted this *darling* Jojo halter & twirl outfit a day or two ago. It's to die for! I'm not making a Jojo set, but I'd like to use a similar color scheme for something else. I was wondering if anybody knew where I could find the blue with lime dot fabric used in this skirt. Thanks so much!

I may be mistaken but I bought something really similar to it at Walmart. It was in the $2 section. It also came in an orange/yellow combo.

Okay,

So I went to sewing heaven. It is called . . .

http://www.tomorrowstreasures.info/

It is a specialty sewing shop. They have a lot of quilting, heirloom, and smocking supplies.

They have the most beautiful fabrics for making baby dresses. I was so excited I could not choose!!!! They had baby piping in every color and gingham. They had 1000 rick racks. Covered buttons to match everything. I could go on and on.

The ladies who work there were so nice. I walked in and said I want to learn how to smock. I know nothing. They helped me find a how to book. Which is fab!!! They picked out needles for me and helped me find a good pattern to start. I let DD3 pick five colors and do you know that kid was spot on with coordinating them!

I also signed up for a class. When I was leaving the lady who worked there also gave me practice pleated fabric. So nice!!!

Tonight DH and I took the girls to the pool. They swam for two hours. I sat and read the instruction book and started to make my first cable row and guess what . . .

IT WAS EASY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I have never done any type needle point and still it was easy!! I will post some of my practice later tonight!
