boy it's a nasty day here in Houston...rain rain rain all day....but at least that's one less day of hotter than the sun weather...

I'm home sick, I have a cold and am currently acting like a big wuss and making as many people as miserable as I am...

I don't think we're going to go to DL after the cruise, I think we're going to head down to San Diego and go to Sea World

I lived in Houston for about 7 years as a kid. I remember those rainy summer days. You're lucky that it's not hot...I'd remember it would start raining (buckets) and it just became more muggy and I'd think, how can it get hotter when it's raining? Since I was from New York-rain and heat didn't equate to my kid mind! In New York, usually if it was raining it was cold. Although NY has it's fair share of very humid summers. Maybe that's why I like CA so much....it may be 100 right now but it's not humid. I guess every place has it's flaws!

Is this the tropical storm? I suppose it is warm rain then, the only good side.

We originally were going to go to SF area for a week, then we decided to take less time after the cruise and head to San Diego, but in the end we are only staying for 3 nights as John wanted to get back, so it wasn't worth driving anywhere. He diNOT want to go to DL, but hey ho - there we go!!!

We are in Sarasota which is on the Gulf side (west) and in between st pete and naples.

Well, Cindy is lurking here somewhere, trying to read and catch up on the excitement, so no surprising her! But seriously, she and I did book this with the plan of us having a fun, girls only, kid-free cruise, so it wouldn't be fair to change the vacation she's been planning. Just even more reason to visit you guys so Tyler can get his fix of you all!

My exam is at 6pm tonight, and I'm done cramming for it. I think. Or maybe I'm just taking a break here. Not sure what I'm doing.....Where am I? What am I doing? Who am I? Yup, insanity finally took its hold on me.

V, that must be a wonderful place to live. We stayed at St. Pete's Beach the first trip in 1994, and went to Clearwater for a few days in Sept 2000, but shot back to Orlando when a hurricane came along. As it happened it wasn't a bad one, but there was nothing to do in Clearwater unless it was sunshining! If I can get John back to Florida we would like to travel around a bit.

It is a great place for the most part it is just becoming so expensive. Due to the storms the past few years our homeowner's insurance has shot up so much - between that and the property taxes our mortgage went up around $500 a month. Crazy....and yet our salaries aren't getting raised nearly enough!

I don't think I could live anywhere other than here unless it was in the Caribbean, it's just a slower pace, everything is realtively close by and it's summer almost all of the year!

If you liked St Pete Beach, you have to visit Siesta...no beaches in FL really compare. The sand is gorgeous!

We have open house at the daycare...both girls classrooms are hosting it --- they basically run us through a typical day etc but I think we are going to Samantha's. We went to the room Haley is in prior so we are pretty familiar with the curriculum but we haven't been to Samantha's and Haley's teacher suggested that we do that since it will have K info as well.

I think I hurt my mom's feelings and I didn't mean to. A couple days ago we were talking about the cruise and I said oh there may be cancellations close to the due date etc. Well she put in a call to the TA and got on a wait list and they called her today with a cat 9 room for two adults $6100. She said she didn't want to infringe and I blurted out that I didn't want to eat dinner with them every night. It came out all wrong. I have no problems with her coming it's just I don't want to spend all 15 nights with her and my sister. She abruptly got off the phone and won't answer. I didn't mean it meanly I meant I don't want to do everything together. If that makes any sense. She is very sensitive.

It is better if things are said upfront rather than bad feelings on the vacation. I would never just book a vacation at the same place as any of my children anyway unless they actually asked and I felt they really meant it!!

I am sure she will get over it and you can get some ground rules in place for a great cruise.

V, I think I asked in the middle of a long multi quote posting some days ago, but it got lost in everything, but have you rented tuxes before? What are they like? Decent quality? John is short with short legs, so I wonder if they provide for that. I always have to shorten his trousers or get them shortened!

yes they were great. I believe the web is cruiselineformal.com It was hanging in our stateroom when we got there and we gave it to our stateroom host at the end of the trip. I think the cost for the week is the same for two weeks as well.

Holly - I am sure you will be ready to celebrate! How many more semesters do you have left? Will you be on a break during the cruise?

I bet John and Sophie are having a grand time...wonder what dear Amy is up to all alone at home! She is probably throwing block parties every night!

I'm not sure how many semesters I have left, but I now have 35 credits completed out of 90. Too much left to try to figure out when I'll be done.

When we go on this cruise, I'll miss week 2 & 3 of that semester or something like that. Not too bad to get caught up when you miss in the beginning.

Kim- Sorry about your toe! I broke mine once, climbing out of our old shower. I love Grand Cayman- they have such gorgeous beaches there.

Lisa- the passport application process has slowed considerably this year! We got one for Olivia last fall, and it came pretty quickly. My grandparents put in their application well over a month ago and it’s not in the system. I think a lot of people are realizing that they actually need passports now.

I’m hooked on Lost too- but we’ll be DVRing like mad while we’re on the cruise.

Paigee- Welcome to the thread! You and your sister will be about the same age as my sister Gillian (she’ll be about a month shy of her 18th birthday).

I’m so jealous of all the cat 3 cabins!! We’re all in cat 10s. Although it gives me an excuse to be out and about the ship more (and hopefully with a DOD!!!)


It seems Olivia is getting more teeth, which is adding to our trouble sleeping. I reached in her mouth and she has molars all of a sudden! Terrible sleep last night though, and it’s starting to catch up with me (and probably DH as well).
I picked up my bridesmaid dress for Labor Day weekend, and it fit! Thank goodness! Now I just have to stay this size for a couple of more weeks. I’ve done nothing to get ready for my birthday party on Sunday. Luckily, most people RSVPed that they’re not coming, so that makes things a little easier.
