Some places are exactly as you describe, whilst others are breathtakingly beautiful & unspoiled. The weather is spot on most the time, but when it's nice it really is nice. Expensive...where isn't in todays climate? I know some tourist attractions also blame our rate of VAT for being more expensive than other parts of Europe, but don't know whether that really is true.
