My "nightmare" actually happened this morning when I was changing DD's diaper. We're fighting a bad case of diaper rash and the screams that came out of her could probably be heard down the street. My fear is dealing with something like this on the ship... someone passes by our cabin as DD is lets out some blood curdling screams, thinks I'm abusing our child, and call security.

I don't envy you that one. My DD (now 18 yrs) inherited her Dad's bad skin....eczema, cracking, peeling....and diaper rash like I've never ever seen.... We used to have to let her go naked, would rinse her under the faucet instead of wiping, used cornstarch instead of any kind of powder or cream.....it finally went away, but she still has dry skin problems. The best part about it, though, she never had acne. So I guess there's a plus in there somewhere.
Don't worry, I for one will not turn you in!!

If anyone wants to share their DD or DS Webkinz names..I know my DD would love to "chat" with them in Webkinz world too...Send me a PM and I will respond with DD name as well!
We are a Webkinz family too! All 4 of us have 2 each! Believe it or not, DH is the one most addicted!
Kathryn just got a Ty giraffe today that is the same concept as Webkinz. We looked around the site some and it looks pretty fun!

I'm anticapating very hot weather on the excursions for this cruise and was wondering if anyone has used "cooling collars" for the heat? They look like a good idea on the web sites but do they really help keep you cool?:confused3
I've used them at work. They do keep you cool, but you have to keep getting them wet. The ones I've used dry out quick.

Hey Lil' Grumpy!

Got another giraffe!

th_giraffe.gif

Julie...Can I ask a stupid question? I am new to this board, and this will be our first cruise with Disney. We would like to participate in "ALL" of the fun. Don't really know if that is possible...but one can try.

Back to my question...is it too late to sign up to participate with the fish extenders? And, if not...how do we go about doing so?

Thanks, Carol

I'll ask her in the AM... She is very shy... but might be interested! How old are your kids... my DDs are 8 and 6

My DD is 9. This may be a fun pre-cruise ice breaker for some of our shy kids :)

My DGD has areally lot of the webkinz also. Between the Webkinz and World of Warcraft site, they fight for computer time.

We are an X VMK family (still sad about that one), by DH and oldest 2 DS's are big Wow'ers. Now DD plays webkins, club penguin, build a bearville and games on the disney website.

DD got a parttime job working for Starbucks and just found out it will be closing next year. What luck.

:welcome: to a fellow Denverite!
It can't be as bad as Beanie Babies! Exactly 10 years ago tonight (I only know because the local news mentioned it), my DW and I were at the All-Star game at Coors Field in Denver. We each received an All-Star Beanie Baby with a commemorative card and were immediately offered $100 for each of them. I held on to them and before the days of ebay, managed to sell them via a Beanie Babies website two days later to a broker (in crazy Philadelphia) for about $600! How bizarre was that?

My youngest DS has one Webkinz and doesn't really have any desire to collect them. It happens to be a miniature schnauzer just like our our family pet and he sleeps with it everynight!

oh your Beanie Baby comments have cracked me up. I was a beanie baby bear collector and they all sit in our storage in many plastic bins. Now that was a craze!!

I don't know about anyone else, but that ride (Orange Stinger and ones like it) scare the CARP out of me. I think I have a phobia of swings, and this one is the grandpappy of swings. I know I will not be sad if its refurbished whil I am there. :scared: :faint: :scared1:

My girls love webkinz and are on the site all the time (that and the Build a bear website). Desiree, I will make sure to pm Courtney's user name.

I am going to start a thread on the pirate zone, as I've lost track of who's kids play. If we just list it their, I can pm everybody DD's info.

We are a Webkinz family too! All 4 of us have 2 each! Believe it or not, DH is the one most addicted!
Kathryn just got a Ty giraffe today that is the same concept as Webkinz. We looked around the site some and it looks pretty fun!
http://beanie-babies.ty.com/

I will ignore the comment that Ty now has animals like webkinz! YIKES!

Not sure I'd agree that any of our pirates are virtuous......except maybe Father Mike

Ok lets see, what are the 7 deadly sins?

Lust - lusting after the desserts perhaps - shouldn't have looked at the food porn!

Gluttony - early morning snack, buffet breakfast, brunch, buffet lunch, afternoon tea on deck, dinner then late night room service... say no more on that one.

Greed - taking that extra dessert at lunch time or just one more cookie?

Sloth - lounging around during those days at sea

Wrath - what will happen if someone jumps the queue between me and the buffet line...

Envy - what I will feel when I leave the ship and see others heading towards it

Pride - being satisfied I ate my own body weight daily in food during the cruise

Of course thats just me and others may be much more virtuous...

Dumb question #297...What's a Reading FC? :confused3

It's our local soccer team. Has a couple of USA players too: Bobby Convey (DDs favourite player) & Marcus Hahnemann. I'm not a soccer fan, but DH & DD are & it looks like the youngest is being influenced too...maybe I'll get A sutrday afternoon of peace if the yall go off for the match!

Get mugged...
Live in a crappy overpriced row house..
Have really really crappy public schools...
Get yourself a better job by commuting to Joisey....
Pay tolls daily crossing the river to said job.
Drive an insane amount of miles daily because everything is so spread out...
(You might as well live 40 miles away since that's what you'd put on your car daily anyway...)

Oh wait..you just want to visit..Afraid i lived there. No incentive could make me move back there....

Although i have to say. The WAWA, cheesesteaks, amoroso rolls, Tastykakes, and soft pretzels do make it hurt less....

DC is nice to visit too...Again... You don't want to live there...

Gettysburg...Same thing. Historic in the middle of NOWHERE with slim to no services.

Just ask M for her 34,529,457,458,968 reasons for not promoting life in the DC area....:rolleyes1

I find it ironic that you feel this way about Philly and others love it - can't comment as I've never been there but I feel the same way about the England.

Most people rave about England, about the history and the quaint villages etc, etc

I see England as dirty, cold, wet, grey, council estates with lifts that smell like urine etc, etc. Oh and its very expensive too... after seeing how my remaining family in the UK live, I'm very, very grateful that my parents decided to immigrate to New Zealand.

Also - I'd just like to say that I mean no disrespect to anyone that lives in the UK and likes it. Its just simply my opinion :)

Interesting how people have different perspectives. I love visiting London (though you're right about the expensive part). I do hope to get to New Zealand someday (refueling stop on the way to Australia doesn't count).

I've travelled quite a bit around the world, and around the U.S. And there are many very nice places. But I do find it hard to imagine leaving California.

I mean yes, the ground is shaky, taxes and cost of living high, and there's either not enough water or too much and half the state is on fire between May and October.

But the weather is as close to perfect as one can hope to find. You can hike a redwood forest, surf in the Pacific, and go skiing in a single day. And if you're a tech geek like me... well, there's simply nothing like Silicon Valley. And though I don't live in Southern California any more, DLR is just a short flight or 5-6 hour drive down highway 5.

Not suggesting anyone should move here - just, it's hard for me to really see myself living anywhere else....

You've obviously seen the highlights! :rotfl2: Some places are exactly as you describe, whilst others are breathtakingly beautiful & unspoiled. The weather is spot on most the time, but when it's nice it really is nice. Expensive...where isn't in todays climate? I know some tourist attractions also blame our rate of VAT for being more expensive than other parts of Europe, but don't know whether that really is true.

TBH I went to LIverpool recently & it is not exactly on my list of places to return to. I haven't felt so unsafe in a long time...& this the European capital of culture! I guess all countries have the nice & less desirable areas & I guess I've never really thought baout England from a tourist's perspective before...

GM pirate:

Presently 75 going up to 90 here in Central Florida with 50% chance of rain

:grouphug:  pixiedust: and prayers to everyone who is going to need it today

:welcome: aboard to all the newbies

Happy Birthday and Anniversary to all we have missed.

Have a great Tuesday

My family will be heading down to South Carolina later this week.

Last month my cousin lost her husband. Last night she lost her dad. He had a heart attack while at a BBQ in SC. His wife (my mom’s sister) keeps saying she just buried her son-in-law, now she has to bury her husband.

Once again our whole family is in shock. No one expected this.

My aunt and uncle were married for 38 years. I can’t imagine her without him.

WE are so sorry for your family's loss. You are all in our prayers.
