Golf Carts at the Fort.....waaaaay out of hand

First of all I dont want disneys money.
I would go out of my way to make sure disney "or anyone else" was not part of anyone elses problem.
Second, I guess alot of money to some is nothing to someone else.
I carry millions of dollars of insurance and umbrella polices on top of that, but not everyone does.
So I guess if you have the money, insurance, than let your kids drive the carts.
I could learn to live with a new $30-$50,000.00 paint job.
Otherwise it could be a very costly game.

There is a slight difference, in the fact that if you could prove that Disney was negligent in enforcing rules at the fort, then they'd bear some liability. And in a lawsuit, you go after the deepest pockets.

On the theme park deaths, no one from Disney was negligent in their duties. That's why I'm curious why they don't enforce the cart rules more.

Ahhh.... therein lies the difference. You sign a waiver when you rent a cart that you acknowledge and will obey the rules. The fact that they can't be everywhere 24 hours a day being "big brother" bears out the liability issue. Disney's liability ends when you sign that form.

They do enforce the rules as much as they deem legally necessary. You've seen it and I've seen it. All Disney would have to do is produce CM's stating that they do enforce the rules. End of liability. I'm sure Perry Mason would even agree with that one!;)

I love these discussions, Pete!:goodvibes <smiley just to aggravate you - and I can't get points for that!>

I would tend to agree.
No one wants someone to get hurt.
No one wants to sue or be sued.
But,...
I am bored and gatordad and I are in the middle of a game of who has the most time to waste.

Waivers usually don't release the author of liability in such matters.

Uh.... $30-50K for a custom paint job on a 45' MH?? I need to know where you shop!

Bottom line - FtW has been around since 1971. They've rented golf carts a long, long time. If no one has successfully sued them in all these years over the golf carts (and I'm sure people have tried - but we just don't hear about it) I doubt anything will change. Disney probably has a legal defense team that would make Johnny Cochran look like a novice lawyer. I doubt they have left themselves sitting ducks for frivolous lawsuits. If they had, WDW would be closed by now & we'd be even more inundated with cable stations and "frivolous" TV shows & movies.

The reason they don't lose many, is because they have deeper pockets. The same reason McDonalds screwed themselves in the coffee case.

Post count being the main barometer, I think Gatordad has way more time on his hands than wrongagain.

I just want Disney to comp my next trip, so I'm gonna jump in front of the first golf cart I see driven by a tween. Maybe I'll have a cup of McDonald's coffee in my hand just to seal the deal.

If you were the woman and you were offered 20k for the coffee incident, would you take it?

.
Afterwords you will be able to use wikipedia to research the case study, even if wikipedia isn't up to par for some.:rolleyes1

I am a media specialist at a high school. You would be surprised how many times I say in a day "No, you cannot use Wikipedia as a source on your paper because it can be edited." And I always get, "Really?":confused3

Id douse my crotch with lighter fluid and let Gatordad shoot bottlerockets at me for $20k..but Im broke like that!!

Ok...Ib probably do it for free on a drunken dare.

It is amazing how people think of wikipedia as an online encyclopedia. We recently had a scandal with a local politician seeking election who edited her wikipedia entry so it read like a TV campaign ad.

Ok, I get to do this a week early...

Yes, really, people really do edit and put things that are not true on the internet, just to mess with your brain...:rolleyes1

Horrors! I've been discovered! Now the whole experiment has gone to crap.
