Morning snowbirds! I'm off to take the GRE which is like the SAT for garduate school. :scared1: Anyway, here's our dining schedule for the trip:
1/12-
Hollywood and Vine
1/13-
Cap'n Jack's
1/14-
Garden Grill
1/15-
Tony's Town Square
1/16-
Coral Reef
1/17-
Ohana's

1/11 and 1/18 are travel days so quick service all the way :cutie:

We also have PS2. DS9 wants Guitar Hero Aerosmith. I take it we would have to get the guitar controller thingy too??? Sorry, I don't play the PS2 and don't know much about it! :rotfl:

Hmmm...are you sure it DS9 who wants it? :scratchin I thought I heard something about you and Aersosmith...hmmm.

So does everyone think we are safe as far as there being no rehabs scheduled at Epcot, DHS, and AK??? It seems to me that if they are going to have any they should be posted by now. . . But I don't really know for sure how far in advance they normally post those types of things. . .

How about the 2009 DDP Restaurants? Is that list finalized yet? I was just reading on another thread that the food court at CSR - Pepper Market, and several other non-Disney owned restaurants at DTD and World Showcase at Epcot are NOT going to participate in the DDP for 2009 because they were losing too much money. Anybody have any further info on that???

We are past the middle of November, I would think these things would be finalized by now!!! :confused3

I would certaintely hope so because I planned my meals based on the 2008 list and it wouldn't make much sense to continue with DxDP if I had to pay OOP for 2-3 of the meals. I really hope we hear about this soon if they are going to have changes, so I can make changes to my reservation in time.

At this point, for anyone who has to pay off their trip in the next few weeks, I'd suggest leaving off the dining plan. You can re-add it to your reservation within 72 hours of arrival, so there's no harm, and once the lists are finalized, you can decide if it's still a good deal for you. Things seem to be in such a state of flux that no one can be certain of anything!

This is a quote from someone that stays at CSR all the time. So just keep in mind that you may not be able to use the DDP for those of you staying there. . . Also everyone be careful with the World Showcase and DTD restaurants. . .

"Last year the PM, Maya Grill and Siestas didn't sign up until December BUT I heard from a friend at CSR that the Pepper Market is losing money by participating in the dining plan.

Also, there will be only 2 restaurants at Downtown Disney that will take it (Captain Jack's and Food Quest in DisneyQuest).

The number of countries is also going down as well. Only Canada, the UK, Norway, Germany, and the US will accept the dining plan.

It looks to be all restaurants that are run by outside companies will no longer be participating in the dining plan.

It's not in stone yet but just a heads up."

My Husband and I both think that for the last two January's rehabs had been posted by now. But with Disney, who knows?:confused3

We also have another resort update. We are now staying at POP (for the first time:)). We decided that since we are ""Park" people and spend most of our time there (especially with the shorter park hours) that staying at CBR would be a waste. We sleep at our resort and that’s about it. Thanks for updating us!:thumbsup2

Thanks for the heads up!!! My dining plan was a gift so I'm not sure how it would work to drop it and re-add it...and this only affects 3 of my ADRs and I was planning on canceling one of them (Raglan Road) anyways because of a better opportunity arising...I think I will do a dessert around the monorail resort thing LOL! I'll have a big lunch at 50's PTC anyways...

I have two meals at EPCOT (one in France and one in Japan, so I might just change one of them to one of the other countries just to be on the safe side and pay one out of pocket).

Just wanted to clarify that the advice I gave (which Shelly quoted) is not from a person who stays at CSR all the time - I'm a first-timer at CSR! It's the subsequent quote that's from the long-timer.

I'm getting the distinct impression that either Disney will have to sweeten the pot for these restaurants (which will of course increase the costs of and/or limit the choices on the dining plans), or there will be many fewer people doing the dining plans. Those who are on the cusp of saving money but want the convenience will probably pass if there are too many places that don't take it - there's limited convenience if you can't eat where you want to eat.

Good afternoon everyone! I just got back from Mexico late last night! VERY hot in the 40's :)

I was going to try and catch up today but you snowbirds chatted over 50 pages while I was gone, so hopefully I did not miss much!

I am off to pay the final balance for our WDW vacation :goodvibes

Only 8 more weeks!!!!

Hope you had a nice time!!!

Cantina de San Angel Mexico (CS)

one of our favorite counter service meals!!!!

Good morning everyone! It is very cold here today. My DH is going to the Bills game tonight and where the stadium is located, they're calling for 6-12 inches of snow! This is one game where I'm more than happy to watch from home.

My DD really enjoyed the Rockettes last night as did I. The show was fantastic! My mom bought her a t-shirt and she wore it to school today. So cute! I was already in a Christmas mood, but now I really am! !

GO BILLS!!!!

Meghan.,... my mom and aunt went to Shae's yesterday to see the ROckettes also.... they had a wonderful time.....!!

Surgery went ok. The only problem was when they took the uterus it was twice the weight its supposed to be so off to pathology it goes. We will find out this week what was up with it. Can't sit toolong at computer thanks to all for thoughts & prayers. Will chat more later this week.

Glad your home and doing well..... please continue to keep us updated...

Sarah...... glad your home and doing well also..... taking an extra sick day is a good thing!!!

Well if thats the case it looks like some reservations will be harded to get... and I would think some of the restaurants that aren't going to accept the DDP will lose business.

Has anyone heard anything about DIsney VISA promotion.... I have been so busy the last week....

It is snowing here.... I hate snow.... I want to move to Florida... okay whinning done....

That's what I think too - about the rehabs. . .

I don't blame you, if we stayed at the parks from open to close and only slept at the resort we would go Value too.

I quoted Buzz - who stays there every year. I don't think I have seen anything you posted about it.

Either way CSR doesn't affect me. . . I am more concerned about the Epcot restaurants and I noticed that not all of the Boardwalk area restaurants are listed. . .

Does anyone have a list of non-Disney owned restaurants??? That would be helpful in determining which ones *might* not participate.

:rotfl2: Funny dreams!! You aren't obsessing about this trip are you???

CBR Meet - no detail yet. . . I need to look at the list and see when everyone arrives. I think I arrive a few days earlier than the rest of you CBR-ers! I'm gonna get right on setting that up!! :cool1:

Aaaaaaak! I'm having more resort indecision! :scared1:
I had pretty well decided that, even with the 3-free deal at a Disney hotel, staying with SOG was better for us. But I was just reading the SOG thread, and someone who usually stays there just got back from a trip where they had stayed offsite at Wyndham Cypress Palms (timeshare) through AFVC (Armed Forces Vacation Club--can stay at various timeshares around the world for $329/week). Anyway, he thought it was GREAT, even though he loves SOG. So now I'm thinking about that! Here's what I've come up with:

Pros to staying at SOG:
SO CLOSE to MK--walk to Poly and catch monorail
Convenient to other parks (we'll have our car, so we'll drive to other parks)
Extra Magic Hours--we'd planned 3 morning and 1 evening EMH

Pros to staying at WCP (or other timeshare through AFVC):
More space--SOG's rooms are BIG, but they're still just one room. At a timeshare we would have a separate bedroom (possibly 2), living room, kitchen, washer/dryer, etc. Could put the baby to bed and stay up in the living room.
Lower cost--SOG would be $780 for 6 nights ($125/night + $5/night parking); AFVC would be $329 for the week (we'd still probably only stay 6 nights). Parking at the parks is a question mark...officially they are supposed to charge SOG guests to park at all but MK, but in practice they sometimes don't.

Do any of you wise Snowbirds have any additional thoughts for me? Meghan, where are you staying? Have any of you stayed at Wyndham Cypress Palms or other offsite timeshares? Help! I'm suddenly in a panic. Silly, I know. :sad2: Thanks for any insight you can give me! :flower3:
