Dog fencing for campsite

This is the same one that I was thinking of buying, but I've been hesitant since I didn't know if you could link them. Please be sure to post once you find out!
Thanks! :)

They can be linked! When you pull them out of the box, they're open on each end, which have fasteners to hook them together. So, you can link together as many as you need. They're really good quality, and the 24" height will be perfect for my "height-challenged" boys! I think you'll be happy with them!

Dog fences are no good. The fort should put certain people in cages and dogs driving golf carts.:lmao:

Couldn't agree more! The saying "The more people I meet, the more I like my dogs" comes to mind! ;)

Actually, I was thinking they should put some people in cages, and make the dogs carry the pitchers of Kungaloosh!! ;):rotfl2:

Great! Thanks for letting me know. I think the 24" one will work for my dog too.

I'm telling you, last October your Yorkie yapped the whole time you were gone one day and was left unattended in your camper. What was that saying about living in glass houses and throwing stones?

hold on, I think I know this one.... if you live in glass houses and throw stones, don't pee in a fan???

You know this is getting a little bit old; you have brought this up so many times. Don't you think it's time to give it a rest.

Probably not but since I don't see posts from some of the village idiots IMHO so to speak thank goodness for some of the options available so none of those posts for 3 or 4 people here bother me anymore and that is a great feeling.

What is really funny in all this is you and I have actually met you and remember our encounter (thanks for the ride back to my site) and I think I actually did what I think any good camper would do and tried to help you in a respectful manner and I actually felt bad that I couldn't bet your issue resolved. This is the problem of the internet in that people that don't actually know someone can say anything they want and get away with it and make it funny at least in their mind ... very, very, sad and OH WELL ...

I think we do the very best we can and when we leave our dogs are confined in the follow hall on the floor which is in the very middle of the trailer so it is as isolated from the outside the best it can be and there are child gates at each end of the hall.. We turn on the radio to drown out any outside noises and we have checked how effective this is by confining then and have one of us stays in the trailer and getting them worked up and barking while the other checks for outside noises. You can't here them from the road in front of where we park our tailer. We can barely hear them from the hitch position and the road is another 20'+ from there so I feel comfortable we have taken every precaution available to be a good camping neighbor.

Show me one other person that has gone to those lengths to try and be considerate of other campers ... not one that I know of.

I can't wait for the Oct. GG and the F&W Festival at Epcot.

Actually when we leave our dog alone in the camper, he stays inside in his crate. I too leave the radio and air conditioning on. And I put him in the bedroom with the blinds closed, so it is nice and dark for him. He is crated trained, so it doesn't bother him at all for a few hours. We never leave him for longer than 4 to 5 hours at a time and then come back and take him on a nice long walk.

As the OP for this thread, I have to say that I have been very surprised at the direction that this thread has taken. I have tried to stay out of the argument as much as possible, but I just have to say that this statement really annoys me! All I can say is that you must be camping around the wrong people! I believe that vast majority of dog owners on this board are very considerate campers, and go to just as many "lengths" as you say that you do to make sure that our pets do not disturb people. We were very worried the first time we left our dog in the RV (A/C and tv going, all shades pulled down so that he wouldn't see anything to bark at). As we walked away for the first time, he started barking. So we walked down the loop just a little ways, and then came back to see if he had stopped...which he had. We stayed away from the RV for a very short period of time that day and each day we extended it a little bit more, just so that he could see that we will always come back. He doesn't bark at all when he is left now. While there will always be campers who will leave their dog barking for hours while they enjoy the parks, I think you will find that the people on this board are much more responsible than that. Just my two cents!

Scott for President......

I second that vote......

Larry J has people on ignore, oh the irony.

I bet he doesn't have any one on ignore. He likes to stir the pot and see everyones reaction. So I will give him another example of considerate campers (because he claims I am not). I removed Bella (a full grown boxer) from the puppy park more than once because someone with a small dog will enter the park. Bella is not aggressive but she will jump up to box (imagine that) and may land on a smaller dogs back. I don't want her hurt nor do I want her to hurt another puppy so I just take her out. Now I have a fence that will hold her and a few friends of her size so they can play and no others get hurt. I will set the fence up and I will let her run loose in it and I don't care what he thinks about it. Once again, if he does not ask for the 1700 loop, chances are he will never run into me or the dog.

As for the fence at Camping World, it is 30 inches high and needs to be supported with larger stakes for the larger dogs but 2 boxers played in there for days at a time and the fence held up. However, one drunk took the fence out in a single step.:rolleyes1

Ya know, I dont recall a single trip when some of the neighbors didnt drift over because we were having so much fun. Heck, one guy even changed my ressies just so he could camp next to me..... you cant make this stuff up.

We don't use fencing, leashes, or anything with our dog. I just give her a good whack on the hips with my maglite. She won't wander off for a good 2 or 3 days. Much cheaper than fencing!

j/k....;) I would never do that to a pet. Plus, our dog is a 100+ lb German shep. She would probably bite the maglite in half.

Was his name Donnie? :) Seems like I remember a trip back in April when a few of us from the 800 loop drifted over (on Cheryl and Jeff's golf cart) and hung out with you guys. I'd say from the looks of things, you are very considerate campers!

Amen!
I've been lurking on this thread and staying out of the fray, but we are also amongst those "considerate campers" that go out of our way to make sure our dogs aren't disturbing our neighbors - doing many of the very same things you all mention, including making sure we schedule all our days so that we have time in the morning to get some good exercise in so they're all quite tired and ready for a nap.

And even though it cuts into our park time, because we think it's so important, we do test runs the first couple of days to ensure the system is working and we never leave them for more time than we know they can handle (6 hours ish) And even if we're pooped at the end of the day, we play with them when we get back at night so that they get plenty of fun time too.

We also make sure to check with our neighbors and ask them to tell us if they're making a ruckus. So far, in 9 weeks at FW over the past 5 years, no complaints!

We try and be as conscientious as possible at the dog park too - keeping our crazy border collies entertained with their jolly ball away from where the little dogs are playing (BCs have blinders on when their ball is in play!) We also have one dog we know wouldn't do well at the dog park because he doesn't greet new dogs well. He doesn't mean any harm, but we never want to subject anyone else's dog to his shenanigans. So despite it being double the work, while DH takes the girls to the dog park, I take our "special boy" to the canal dog walk. Everyone gets their exercise, then they all happily load up into their crates with their frozen chew toys, we flip on the AC or fan and their TV (which we bought specifically to mount at their end of the camper), close the blinds, and slip out the door.

Yes, it all means more work, but for us, it's part of being responsible pet owners and if we're going to bring them with us camping, we need to be sure they get what they need to be good neighbors too.

It took us a little time to work out a system, but it's definitely worth the effort, as we now have dogs that we can camp with for weeks at a time and everyone is happy - our neighbors included!

There are always a few bad apples out there, and we probably all have our stories of the all-day/night yapper, but in my experience most campers at FW are considerate, responsible pet owners. And when it comes to this forum, I've seen lots of good questions asked by first time pet campers and lots of great advice given. :thumbsup2
