Here's my DW birthday cake that we enjoyed at the wave last Monday. Chef Brian did an outstanding job. My wife was wowed.

WOW, chef Brian was a busy man last weekend. A Splash Mountain Cake on Sunday and a Cinderella Cake on Monday!!!! Great job, Brian.

Yes, Cinderella was hand painted white chocolate. In fact my son bit off her head about five minutes after this photo was taken. I had poste the details on my order about two weeks ago, it cost $100.

Am I the only one who is not really digging the 2 dimensional pics of characters that seem to be popping up a lot now?

Not the only one. Not to mention it seems that it is a hit or miss if the 2D pictures are even cut out neatly.

Just thought I'd post my most recent experience...

A week or so ago, I emailed Brian at the Contemporary to discuss cake ideas and get some options. We settled on exactly what I wanted and I was then able to call the CR private dining directly to order. I gave a credit card as a guarantee, but it will be charged to our room.

-8 inch chocolate cake with bavarian cream filling
-bright blue fondant
-white chocolate monorail (Brian also said he'd throw in some other fun touches)
-personal message written on the cake

To be delivered to our room at Bay Lake Tower on Feb. 7th. Cost is $100 plus room service fees for delivery.

I'll post pictures here after we get it!

Can't wait to see a picture!!! My kids love the Monorails!

Ok, I have spent hours and hours reading this thread. My best friend turns 40 in May and her husband is in Iraq. Since he cannot be here for her birthday, we have planned a surprise trip to the Grand Floridian for her birthday. On her actual birthday, we will be dining at Narcoossee's. I am looking for suggestions on a special cake for her birthday keeping in mind that it is for 2. Also, is there a list of cake flavors and fillings anywhere?

Thanks.
Pam

Hi all! Was wondering if anyone has gotten one of the ganache (rather than fondant) cakes lately? I love the look of fondant, but I've heard having that shoots the price way up. Just wondering what current rates are for ganache cakes, what sizes are available, and what restaurants you can have them served at? Really any info on ganache haha ;D Celebrating my 25th at Disney this year but don't want to spend $100!

whoops!:confused3

it is too bad that things go wrong sometimes.:sad2:

I agree, it was annoying though since it cost me $100 and was for my daughter's b-day. Pat (the same one who took my order) from the GF called me to see how we liked our cake and I told her we were disappointed. She was very surprised and told me that perhaps I'm just not familiar with how a custom cake should taste! I told her that it should it at least taste good and the 7 people in our party agreed with me! It was just so blah and flavorless, not to mention it tasted stale and crumbled when I cut it. I don't think I'd order from the GF again. Next time I'll maybe give the CR a try, they seem to be turning out really nice cakes.

Last year my DH & I had an awesome chocolate ganache cake at Yachtsman Steakhouse. It was a beautiful cake, decorated with fresh berries. I can't remember the exact price, but it was a 10 inch cake for I think $35-$40. WELL worth it and we had plenty of cake for the week. I have a pic...if I find it, I will post it.

Thanks Susie! That price sounds fantastic, although I'm sure it's gone up since then lol. I saw one made in Sept I think with a 2-d white chocolate disk and some stars etc shooting out and that was in the $50s... I want something even more plain than that, so fruit sounds great! I really just want something YUMMY, not too big (only 4 in our family), and not crazy expensive since I myself will probably eat most of it :rotfl: I am the big chocolate and cake lover in the family!

What bakery did you order from?

Planning a trip to the World for my son's 1st Bday. We are going to have dinner at Crystal Palace. I want to order a small cake, but realy cute. Any suggestions? TIA

Also, if I order a cake from GF bakery, can I pick it up for dinner at CP? I am guessing they only deliver on GF property.

It's not a 'real' bakery where you can walk in and pick up a cake. It's the GF private bakery. As far as I know they will only deliver to their guest's rooms and their restaurants.

Some have report luck getting a cake delivered from CR (Brian) to CRT so maybe you can get one delivered to CP. I have no clue if this is always possible or if those guests were just lucky. Good luck.

The only actual bakery where you can walk in and pick up a cake is the Boardwalk Bakery.

Question for anyone who may know:

My DH and I had a recreation made of our first tier from our wedding cake for our 1st anniv. at the GF bakery in December. The GF was going to charge us $75 delivery fee to take it to the BWV. This month we're staying at the WLV and taking my mom to Artist's Point for dinner for her b-day. My question is if I go thru the Contemporary do I have to pay the $75 delivery fee? And does it make a difference if I have it brought to the restaurant rather than the room?

TIA!

OHHH how much are the characters? I would love to get one for each of my kids if they are not overly expensive. I am sure I can make one of our meals be at CR. We are staying at AKV and from what I've been told its best to go elsewhere for the cake.

I'm taking my DD, her BFF and her BFF's mom to WDW in June to celebrate the girls 21st birthday (both turn 21 in May). I already booked dinner in California Grill and I want to have a cake made and served at dinner.
I actually plan to ask to have the cake as the centerpiece as opposed to waiting for it to be served after dinner.

Anyway, I'm wondering if anyone has any pictures of a small cake with a champagne glass theme? This is one idea I have.

Another idea I'm thinking of is a mini wedding cake decorated with small champagne glasses and bubbles, with some sparkly type things on the top with a "21" cake topper. Anyone know if I can have the mini wedding cake decorated like that? And how many people does a mini wedding cake serve?

Thanks!
