Booking into 2013

Wow, it looks like the private town car may only be $10 to $20 more than the cab fare! Still, the range of $100 to $120 quoted for cab or limo fare took me by surprise. Of course it has been over 30 years since I have ridden in a taxi though.

I guess that the DME (priced into the reservations) and the Grey Line DLR Express (at $38 pp R/T) may have spoiled me?

Thanks for the clarification on Universal's setup there. What a mishmash. I can see having someone else operate your hotels for you as a cost saving measure, but to try and tie it all together as a package deal with a third-party travel agency is odd.

But, I guess that it works for them, huh?

Loews are partial owners of the hotels, so they just don't operate them. However, Loews doesn't own any part of the parks. Having a third party travel agency do their group bookings makes sense. However, it really isn't necessary to use them. It is dead simple to do it yourself and often save a considerable amount of money by doing so.

What's the latest in 2013 you've been able to book so far? It seems as though it's not more than 6 months out, which will create problem for me with my 7 month dvc booking. Still looking for May 2013.

Looks like rates are now available online for all of 2013. MUCH higher than I hoped for June. :(

i looked at days for my 2013 trip and see the rates are at rack rate.

when i try with the aph rate, it is the same as rack.

the discount rates will be up at a later point.

the SMSM will possibly be listed later this year, more likely december.

you can book now and modify your rate when when promos are released.

the only reason to book now for june 2013, is to lock in your booking dates.

Just booked for June 2013. SMSM discount saved me about $50 per night of of rack rate with just a 2 night stay at RPR.

Booked just a standard room, no discounts on Jurrasic rooms. Probably can survive 2 nights....

Just tried to duplicate my feat and now I'm not seeing any discounts at all. I guess I'll keep my discounted stay and be happy

If anyone is looking for SMSM discount for 2013, you should definitely check the website periodically. It seems like the discount is offered at various times during the day and for certain hotels at any given time.

I booked the HRH online over the weekend (on Saturday, 8/18/12 at 1:45am)for December 2013. There was a SMSM 25% discount offered at the HRH hotel only and I decided to book it. I first checked the pricing Friday (8/17/12) afternoon and saw that HRH only had a 10% SMSM discount and the RPH had a 25% SMSM; there was no discount listed for the PBH. But when I checked that evening, there was no discount at either of the three hotels. I thought perhaps the discount I saw earlier was a mistake or perhaps I mistakenly put in 2012, instead of 2013. I am not sure what made me check early next morning, but I was surprised to see the SMSM discount was back. This time for the HRH only and now it was a 25% discount. By late morning on Saturday, the discount was gone again.

Around 11am today, I checked the pricing again for a friend, and saw that the SMSM discount was back again. But now it was for the RPH only and at 30% off. I will definitely check back again periodically to see if I can get the HRH for 30% off. I am happy with the 25%, but that extra 5% will pay for the refrigerator that I reserved. (I still can't believe they charge $15/day for the refrigerator).

Good luck everyone and enjoy your stay!

Stay More Save More

a discount that anyone can use.

the more days you stay, the better the discount.

How can I tell if the rate given on the site is discounted according to SMSM?

When the hotel prices are listed, it will list the available pricing categories...such as Stay More Save More or Seasonal Rate. The only way to know how much of a discount is to compare the SMSM discount to the Seasonal Rates.

In case anyone is interested, I just saw that the SMSM discount is back. But how long it will last tonight is anyone's guess. I am not sure if it is available for all dates in 2013, but it is available for December 2013. The discount is 25% and available for all three hotels. This discount was for a 5 night stay.

It looks like I can only get a SMSM rate for my June dates if I stay 4 nights but not 3, is that usually the case?

it can vary.

later it could change back to 3 nights again.

the larger discounts are for longer nights booked.

Are there usually AP rates in late August and if so when are they traditionally released? Thanks for any info.

I received a 15% discount for a 2 day stay in June 2013. It disappeared recently sand haven't seen it again!

Yes, there are usually late August AP rates. I'd expect to see them by late spring.

I forgot that the Stay More, Save More discount depends on the number of nights. It is presently still available online. However, depending on the number of nights, not every room category may be available. This is what the present SMSM discounts are for December 2013:

1 and 2 night stays = No discount
3 nights = 10% discount (at all three hotels)
4 nights = 20% discount (at all three hotels)
5 nights = 25% discount (at all three hotels)
6 nights = 25% discount (only at the RPH)

Keep in mind that the discount and room availability will depend on the dates you are going.
