Hey everyone! This is a last minute PTR because, as you can see, I leave in 10 days!!! It feels like it's been forever since my last Disney Halloween trip, and I'm so excited to be going with my cousin (we shall call her Snow), since she hasn't been to Disney since she was 12
Quick background, and then I'll get to what matters...where we will be eating
Alice: I'm 29, I work full time in commercial banking but my true love is traveling. And Disney. And food. I'm totally Pooh sized, although less so now, since over the last year I've lost 84 pounds. I have 60 left to lose, and I don't plan on worrying about that AT ALL while I'm in Disney. So don't worry, there will be plenty of food porn. As far as I'm concerned, food on vacation doesn't have calories
Food likes/dislikes: I will try anything once, but from experience I'm not a huge seafood fan. I love most meats, lots of veggies (no tomatoes though) and fruit and have a pretty serious sweet tooth.
Snow: Just turned 25, so this is a birthday celebration for her, and also a much needed return to Disney. She works with autistic adults full time and also has her nursing degree. She also loves travel, Disney and food and is in the same Pooh sized boat as me. She's only been to Disney once (I know, I know...how?) and pretty much left all the decisions on where to eat, what to do, etc up to me as this is my 20th trip. Because of this, we are eating at a few places just for their "fun" aspect, as opposed to how amazing the food is.
Food likes/dislikes: Fairly adventurous, tends to like what I like (as in, when we eat out, the order is usually "I'll have exactly what she's having"). The main difference here is that she doesn't really like ribs or steak. Note we are still eating at at least two steak places Also loves sweets, so I'm excited to introduce her to staples, like Dole Whips!
That's enough of that, lets get on to the good stuff. The reason we are all here. The food!!
Now, I'll preface this with the fact that is was actually cheaper for us to arrive one night early, so our first night we aren't on the dining plan. I intend to eat my one and only meal of Disney Pizza that night. I don't care, I know deep down it's sorta gross, but I love it. Reminds me of when I went to Disney and couldn't afford real food (kinda like raman noodles and college hehe).
Sept 21 - Arrival Day/Typhoon Lagoon
We should be on Disney property by 12:30. My favourite thing about flying out of Detroit is that there is an Earl of Sandwich in the terminal!
B - Earl of Sandwich
L - Intermission Food Court (IFC)
D - Intermission Food Court
So...day one will be slightly boring for the foodies, but I swear, keep reading, it gets much better!
Sept 22 - Magic Kingdom
B - IFC
L - The Plaza - 1:25
D - 1900 Park Fair - 8:00
Now, initially this was supposed to be arrival day, so I had to just take what I could get food wise. That being said, I enjoy the Plaza. The food is always good, I've never had poor service and it's fairly fast. Plus, umm, banana split? Yes please I had booked 1900 Park Fair as our arrival dinner, and thankfully it still worked in our plan. I am not a huge buffet person, but this meal is lots of fun. The stepsisters are HYSTERICAL, so I'm excited for Snow to experience this.
Sept 23 - MGM (or HS, whatever, I can't seem to wrap my head around that still)
B - Hollywood & Vine - 8:05
L - Mama Melrose Fantasmic - 1:40
D - Sci-Fi - 6:45
Obviously, we are only eating at H&V to get into the park early. We don't care about the characters, we just want to eat and then be as physically close for the speed walk to Midway Mania as possible. I was surprised to discover the Fantasmic package for lunch, and Sci-Fi is always fun.
Sept 24 - AK
B/L - Rainforest Cafe - 10:15
D - Jiko - 7:30
I'm no longer sure what the logic was on the late breakfast/early lunch at RFC but it must serve some greater good lol. I feel like this addition was made within the last few weeks. What I'm assuming happened is we added an AK day and Y&Y wasn't available. On the plus side, I'll be hungry for Jiko
Sept 25 - DTD/MNSSHP
B - IFC
L - WPC (new for me!) - 11:30
D - 'Ohana - 5:15
Today is a planned lazy day. We will sleep in, meander over to DTD for lunch, eat, shop and then head back to the hotel to change for my most favourite of things at Disney, the Halloween Party.
Sept 26 - TL
L - House of Blues (new for me!) - 11:30
D - Yachtsman - 7:30
I'm operating under the assumption we will sleep in, as we will be at the Halloween Party until close. Roll out of bed, go try out House of Blues, walk across to TL for some wave pool action and then head back to the hotel to change before Yachtsman Yes, I am dragging my non-steak eating cousin to a steakhouse because I love steak and truffle mac and cheese. I'm sure there will be a chicken option or something for her lol.
Sept 27 - Epcot
B - IFC
L - Via Napoli (new for me!) - 2:00
D - Le Cellier - 7:40
Originally, breakfast was at Akershus, but I cancelled that so we could eat lunch at the Plaza. To me, there is no real benefit of getting into Epcot early, since everything you want a FP for is at the front of the park. However, I've done this breakfast before, and the princess interaction is great, so if you're looking for a princess breakfast, I'd suggest this one.
I also originally had a better timed lunch ressie for Coral Reef. Then I read a million reviews on Via Napoli and changed my mind. I mean, really, what are two girls who don't really like seafood doing at Coral Reef?
Dinner. Le Cellier. Yes. I eat here every trip, I love the soup. I love the breadsticks. I love the filet. This place has never done me wrong.
Sept 28 - Hotel/MNSSHP
B - Kona Cafe - 10:05
D - Royal Table - 5:15
OMG I love Kona Cafe. I stayed at the Poly a few years ago, and I could happily eat at this restaurant every day. Tonga Toast, Macadamia Nut Pancakes, the juice...yummo! We are just lazing around the hotel today, something I rarely take the time to do, so we will just tan and nap and then get ready for our second Halloween Party and dinner in the Castle! This is one of those things that is for "fun" as opposed to for mouthwatering food. But at 25, my cousin is still really excited to eat in the Castle
Sept 29 - AK/Departure Day
B - Tusker - 8:05
L - Yak & Yeti - 1:00
Sadly, today will be our last day. Breakfast at Tusker will get us into the park early, plus this is one buffet that I actually enjoy. I had tater tots here for the first time in my life a few years ago, and for that, TH will always have a special place in my heart Lunch is at Y&Y which I always enjoy. Plus, AK is somehow the hottest place on earth, so the frigid temperature of Y&Y is always welcome.
So that's our plan. I am thinking I'll try and report live from Disney each night, but no promises lol. Either way, prepare yourself for a lot of food pictures and (hopefully) happy reviews. Oh, and I will also review snacks.
Enjoy!!
