January 2013 Discounts

Someone posted this on another thread (thanks to CanadianGuy!)

Thanks for linking this. It's really helping me to see the numbers and crunch them myself:

I had a PIN for free QSDP (upgraded to DDP) at Pop so for our stay it still saves us almost 200 over the SPD option, though I can't seem to get a mod with that PIN :(.

My boyfriend has been calling all morning (as the vaca is booked in his name) and I've been gchatting him as we are both at work.

I told him to use Q69 and the CM kept telling him that saved up like $75, which we knew wasn't right for either RO or s/p/d so he told her to keep trying. Finally she said that she couldn't apply the s/p/d to our reservations because we booked them so long ago (July). I again told him to tell her no or to ask for someone else. We eventally had to rebook our trip but we got everything thing the same, so who cares! Here are the details:

King Room at POFQ Jan 7-14
2 adults
Regular dining plan
6 day park hopper
Original: $3620
With s/p/d: $2905

That's $715 saved! We are so psyched! Sending you all lots of pixie dust and best wishes- don't lose hope! pixiedust:

You're right, the savings are much more when you have older kids. If you'd like to save more I'm happy to send my kids with you...:) (I'd miss my kids, but I've never been to Disney with just my husband and that sounds like fun!)

hahahahah!!:rotfl2: maybe next time

well i feel better having someone confirm my suspicions. i guess $560 is pretty good. considering i wasn't expecting any kind of deal, it just kind of happened!

For anyone who has aleady booked a package with Run Disney, like I did, this RO discount does apply to us! I just got off the phone with a lovely CM at Run Disney and she explained that they typically have lower rates with the Marathon Package but this particular RO offer would be a better choice for me. I bought the Run Disney PKG for 2 adults w/ Dining Plan at AKL (Savannah view) originally so she priced it out with another CM and they told me that if I rebook through Disney Travel then I would save a little over $300. :cool1:
The only thing is, I am now missing out on the mysterious "free gift" from Run Disney. Something tells me it doesn't have a retail value of $300 though, so I don't think I am missing out on much! :rotfl2:

Your savings seems low.

POFQ is a moderate, so you could choose to take 30% off RO instead of s/p/d. Taking 30% off the room rate, you'd save about $330 on garden view and $360 on river view.

S/p/d is the same formula for moderate as deluxe, so your savings should be more in the $72 per night range over the non-discounted prices, not $142 for the entire trip. You can calculate the s/p/d discount by calculating the difference in the dining ($55-17+99-55)*4 persons plus $2 * 4 persons for the ticket difference per day. So, your 5 night trip should have a total discount under s/p/d of about $370.

All calculations I show are rounded to the next lowest dollar. Expect Disney not to round, so the prices could vary by $20-30.

The two discounts are pretty much equivilent, based upon your dates and number of guests. But, they're still a lot more than $142 off list. They ARE about $142 off list if you previously had a AAA discounted room rate.

Mind if I ask you to tell me if I did my math right here:

2 adults Jan 9-19, looking at Pop and PORS right now.

Child 7-day ticket: 287.55
Dining plan: 17.16
Per person total: 334.71

334.71 * 2 = 672.42 plus room?

I can't seem to get a non SPD room check anymore. All links are leading to that package offer so I can't check my room rack rates currently for Pop and PORS.

On hold for an hour this morning, only to be told that the system was down.

On hold now for 57 minutes and counting...wondering if I should just book 2 new rooms online and then link them and cancel my old reservations later on when the call volume drops. Sorry to be so crabby.

Are you doing the s/p/d? If so you would have to do two separate reservations - the first two days RO, then the package reservation.

With RO, not sure if you have to do two separate ressies or not, but you would get the discount for the rest of your stay.

Ones a package so yes, 2 ressies needed.

So I gave up after hours holding on the phone and issues so i booked one online...So I have 2 reservations for the same trip but I will cancel the one and get everything straight in a few days when the lines aren't as busy... Here is me breakdown:
Jan 7-16 pofq garden view park hopper
2 adults and a 10 year old disney adult:

Cost 3290.91... FYI my first booking this morning had me at 4600 so I am a happy girl saving 1300 dollars:)

Has anyone figured out if the S/P/D deal is the same as free dining? Better? Not as good but better than the room only (for a value)??

Just trying to figure out what we're doing. I am adding 2 nights. We are currently booked at AoA in one LM room (my MIL) and one family suite (the 5 of us), but there are no LM rooms showing up as available online -- I was figuring money-wise we would be switching to Pop anyway, but if the LM rooms are gone, I guess there is no way to stay with that one.

And I'm disappointed by the issues they are having, because I'm calling from Singapore and we're 12 hours ahead of you guys -- so if I have to wait until 11 or 12, it's going to be midnight here! Yawn!

For two adults, POP standard, upgrade to reg. dining plan 6 nights with 2 day tickets, it was a little over a hundred dollars more than the Visa offer. Cm was great and put me on hold for a while twice to make sure.

Just got off the phone...

POP Century
Jan 5-13
2 adults and 1 Child (11)
Regular dinning plan
7 day park hoppers
$2653.11

We didn't have dinning on there before and it was 2065.00. I double checked online (the jan-mar discount page) and it matched.

She tried to give me the room only discount. It was 200.00 or so cheaper but I needed dinning. Then she quoted me the regular price for dinning. Then she realized it and told me to hold on, came back with that quote. Said they were still figuring out all the new discounts.

So I'm now stuck, I think. I had two PINs on file as well as the discounts that came out today. I've ended up booking two different ones to sort out what I want without the pressure of the CM on the phone waiting on me:

Booking 1: Free QSDP
10 nights, Pop, 2 adults, 7-day tickets, Free QSDP upgraded to DDP: 2168.24

Booking 2: Room-only
10 nights, Pop, 2 adults: 890.25, add in 7-day tickets of 613: 1503.25

I'm not sure which one we will want. DBF loves his food and we have dining reservations with the hopes of FD.

Th S/P/D option for PORS came to 3172.06 so it just was not on the table for us. We would be willing to do a split stay since the first few days we won't even need our DDP, so a RO would work for us, but we'd prefer to be at a Mod for the last week of our stay.

There are free dining pins out there for 2013??? If so, I want one:badpc:

inkedupmomma: I used the idea listed below:

I figured out that the Kid dining plan was $17.16 per day (vs $55.59 per adult) and used the kid ticket price from the Disney website (after the tax was added) and ran the figures as if everyone in our party was a child plus I added on the cost of a room only reservation to figure out what my cost should be with the s/p/d promotion - if I can ever get through again!!!

Thank god the spd was released online! I was able to do my own math and I was right! I called instantly, all this time they booked me with non expiration tix which sky rocketed my cost!

People if your numbers don't match, check the ressie online :/

It was Free Quick service only but I could upgrade to the reg DDP for upgrade cost but couldn't get a mod resort. I'm not sure if I'm going to call back later and see if I can move to PORS or another mod. I'm glad I asked if I had a pin though. I wonder if DBF has one.

I know I shouldn't be annoyed about this as I am, but I feel like Disney's really screwed over those of us who were able to secure Little Mermaid rooms early on. We're coming in for the marathon 1/12-18 and I've tried every which way to apply some sort of discount to our stay (even switching the first couple nights around the race to POR) and no dice. I know our room type is sold out and I should be thankful we got it, since we'd been talking about staying there since they were announced, but it still burns a little to know that basically everyone else is getting a discount while we're stuck with the rack rate! :furious: And, /rant.

I modified my original reservation after 90 minutes on hold. The discount off two room at the Poly for three nights was $1200, but I used it to buy 10 park tickets, so the net discount was only about $200 (plus I got park admission for five!)

Can't complain about that -- worth the time on hold. Thanks to everyone who let me know it was going on!!

I had booked LM back in May for race weekend as soon as I could because I really really wanted it. I just changed it now to Pop because I couldn't argue with over 400$ savings even after I added a day due to cheaper flights the day before we had booked. I really want a LM room but I just can't say it's worth 400$ to me right now when I'm coming back down in Feb for the Princess.

We need to go 1/18-1/22 -- are we totally hosed for a discount?

We're booked at POR garden view from 1/18-1/27, and our total for the stay using the RO discount is $1301.74. That comes out to a 30% discount off each night of the reservation. The room rates are higher for MLK weekend, but the discount rate was the same...at least in the case of POR. I think you've got a good shot! :)

Just got off the phone after not a long wait, was able rebook our existing AAA R/O res for Jan BC at the new 35 % discount! Very happy about that!!
