*2013* epcot food & wine festival 9/27-11/11

Sorry to say it, but I think discussing the tone of a blogger's reviews is not on topic for the Festival discussion. I guess I don't want to see the thread get sidetracked with a discussion about this particular blog and what the author might mean or not mean by his choice of words.

You have to be familiar with Josh, the blogger who wrote the review. He never claims to be some kind of professional, non-partial reviewer, he's just Josh, giving his own opinions (and he has a definite sarcastically humorous style) . If you read his blog he is so incredibly detailed in the information he provides. Mostly with regard to crowd calendars and touring plans. But he also provides extensive coverage of food and beverage offerings, construction updates, merchandise offerings, and loads and loads of beautiful photos. He give those of us who need our daily Disney fix lots to savor. :D

I suggest reading his blog and then you will understand his style a little better.

Ahhh... Thank you. I love being able to ask a question & get it answered! Instead of jumped on. It was just bugging me. I'm so used to the Food Network & Cooking Channel reviewing things. I keep forgetting that most of these blogs are fan created. At that point it's like on here & is just a TR. I'm definitely going to finish reading it now. & just a bit silly about saying anything. :scared:

Sorry, Miss Nala. I wasn't trying to start a fire.

Yes, basically it is like a trip report. Although IMO much more than a trip report since he goes to the parks nearly every single day (jealous!) and does have access to some insider info on things. And he works really hard at being very accurate in his crowd calendars and with his touring plan recommendations. He spends a lot of time providing so much info every day, and he does it all for free, unlike some other sites. So I for one love the site and am very grateful!

OK TDC Nala, I'll stop now. And really we weren't debating anything about his style, just a quick explanation is all. :)

Back to the topic of Food and Wine! We will be there in 4 days!! Woot Woot!!

I purchased three entries into the
Wine Demo The Great Whiskey Debate on Nov 2.

I purchased them under my name.

I will not be one of the three people going.

Do I need to go with them to the event to make sure they get in?

Do they just have to give my name and or confirmation number?

Thanks

They ask for an ID when you're picking up the tickets (only for the person who's name is on the reservation). They did that for all 3 of our Wine Demos as well as our Sweet Sundays event.

Yep - did the same. My mom purchased and picked them up, then gave them to my friend and myself (who were actually attending). I did see them carding in the line to the actual event, but was for age only, not to match the tickets.

Anyone have a copy of the latest guide? Trying to find out the signings etc for 28th October onwards and can only see up toi the 14th at the moment.

Since my blog had not made it that far yet, I though I would share with you one of my favorites:
◾Griddled Greek Cheese with Pistachios and Honey
I 100% loved this dish! It was heaven in my mouth! All of the elements of sweet, savory, and salty perfectly balanced!

Also pictured:
◾Taste of Greece: Grilled & Marinated Calamari, Hitipiti, Eggplant Dip, Olives and Pita Bread
This was yummy, but kind of gloopy, couldhave used at least one more triangle of pita to sop it up.

&
◾Ouzo
This was my first Ouzo, it tasted like a black jelly bean but really did not have the harshness I was almost expecting due to it's pop culture reputation.

At a booth in the festival center (wonders of life pavilion). Right near entrance, next to info booth

You mentioning this was the Wonders of Life reminded that when we went in there this past weekend, in felt so strange, last time I had been in there I was 18 and rode Body of Wars, lol... on the F&W part of it(to keep on topic), we tried the Ghirardelli Chocolate, it was so creamy, didn't get to buy the drink though, it wasn't warmed up enough.

Anyone out there @WDW who would be at Epcot tomorrow - we have reservations to the 11:00am lunch with the Voltaggio Brothers and are unable to go - anyone able to take our place - CM said no - anyone have an experience having someone go in their place? Thanks!! :)

Dh and I gave away tickets to a culinary demo last year when we were unable to attend. If what you have is a special event they are non-refundable and non-transferable. Very disturbing...why the heck can't you transfer them, they're paid for! Anyhoo, I've never had I.D. checked but whoever you had go in your place would have to check in with your name.

Flame suit on.

DH and I are already going to be at that lunch or I'd jump at the chance. There were so many people who tried to get tickets and couldn't that I imagine someone will be able to use them! I have no problem sending someone other than you to the event when it is due to a last minute change in plans. I suspect Disney doesn't want you to be able to substitute people so that these events can't become hot tickets on the black market, selling for even more than Disney charges! That isn't the case here so my vote is go ahead and let someone else enjoy the lunch! I'm really looking forward to it.

Anyone out there? PM me within the hour and it might be worth a shot if I give you our name! '}

They were checking picture IDs for the person who made the reservation at the Kitchen Memories lunch today so anyone who showed up in someone else's spot technically should have been turned away. There were three people sitting across from us today so I"m curious if they got the "extra" tickets. I didn't ask though, didn't think of it until just now.

The lunch was great! I admit I didn't care for the first course, but most people seemed to love it. The entree was chicken and was very good. The dessert was excellent. The Voltaggios were very entertaining. I'm looking forward to seeing what they have at Party for the Senses tomorrow!

OK quick question, I have an expried driving liscense which obviously has my photo on and dob. Do you think they will accept this as photo ID for Kitchen Memories or do you think they will question it? I don't particularly like carrying around my passport all the time. I usually use my expired liscense for drinks when carded and never had a problem previously but wasn't sure about for this event? What do people think?
