One show over, on to the next show! Ben's middle school performance in Music Man finished up last night. The show was fantastic!

Now, Ben and I will be in a show called Night at the Wax Museum which opens on Thursday. Ben has been in about 15 or so plays, and he asked me if I would be in a show with him. When your almost 13-year old still wants to do stuff with you (or in fact, acknowledges your existence), you do it! This is only my second play and my first musical. For the record: I can not sing! :scared1: But I am loud! I play a pirate, Madame Ching, and my director told me pirates can't sing, so there you go!

Gonna be a super busy week!

On a slightly on-topic topic. I am acting as an advisor to the 8th grade class trip to Disney in June. The kids and chaperones will be staying at All Star Movies and are taking 2 Y.E.S. classes. Right now it appears that they will receive Magic Bands but won't be able to schedule any FP+ until arrival. Not particularly thrilled with that. If anyone has a group school or sports trip before June, please let me know how it goes.

Now, down to business...

Does anyone know if you can use a snack credit to get a bagel at Ale and compass?

I believe so.

:)

Do you need a reservation at beaches and cream for the kitchen sink? I was going to take my son when the mood striked.

I hate that you need a reservation for B&C. It would be nice if they would expand the size of the restaurant then you might not need an ADR. It hard to plan that at 2:00 p.m on Sat. that you will be in the mood for ice cream.

I totally agree! Is the to go counter still an option? The last time we were there we got ice cream to go and ate at our lounge chairs. That was in 2009, so maybe it's changed since then?

GoofyJen- have I given you a welcome to the thread? Do you have an upcoming stay at the resort?

Just in case... :welcome:

As others have stated, it looks like you do need reservations- I'm not sure if they take any walk-ups at all since the restaurant is so small, but I was wondering if anyone knows if the few counter seats (not the to-go counter which has a limited ice cream menu) are still available for walk up traffic.

:listen:

We had to cancel last year's September trip. We're going to try again this year - Sept. 13-21 or as long as I can stretch it out. :rolleyes1

:welcome:

I'm glad to hear you have rescheduled!!!

I'll add you to the Be Our Guest list on Page 1- which resort? BC?

:cool1:

Anyone at the marketplace there lately see Chip & Dale Tropical Tiki Mix?? It's sooooo tasty! Just wondering..

I don't have an answer for you, but what in the sweet name of snacks is THAT???

:goodvibes

I just read that you can buy a case of Dansani water at the BC Marketplace, can anyone confirm this? THX!

Last I knew, you could get a case of Dasani water in the Marketplace- the price list I have shows it is around $16, but that was from a year or so ago.

:thumbsup2

Here are some pictures from our recent stay at the Beach Club. We were in room 2582, a garden view room on the second floor, fairly close to the lobby. We used the lobby stairs all the time to get to our room. The room had a daybed, connecting door, and full balcony.

*snip*

Thank you so much for posting these!!!

:goodvibes

I took a few more pictures of the Beach Club. I haven't seen too many pictures of the courtyard between the BC and the villas.

I took all my pictures with my iPhone, which explains the low quality.

These are great! When I get a chance, I will include them on one of the first page links. You are right, we don't really have pictures of this view.

Thanks for including a picture of you and your DH!

:)

I have updated the Be Our Guest list. I would appreciate it if you could take a moment to check to see if I have your information listed correctly.

Thanks!

Chip & Dale tropical Tiki Mix?!?! :) Well, that's some of the tastiest snack mix around! Imagine--honey roasted nutty trail mix meets tropical fruits on a deserted
island. :0

Dee,

I may be able to get some info. For you. Our H.S. Band is performing in April. Although I'm not a chaperone....heck my kid isn't even in the band lol, but his 2 best friends are and we will be there as well. I've been waiting ( very patiently) for their info. Meeting about the itinerary and such. I was wondering the same thing about the whole scheduling of FP. I kinda figured they wouldn't be able to do all that... Maybe if they hired me as an advisor I could've done it. LOL
The meeting is supposed to be some time this week. I still can't believe they don't really know anything yet and it's 3weeks away. That would drive me crazy!!!

Ben is in 7th grade right?? What does your advisor role entail?
I think I still have your email if you want me to email you when I know more.

Cool! Thank you!

My yahoo email is beachclubdee.

Basically, I am providing the instructors with the info I know and any suggestions/tips I have. I'll meet with any of the parents who want additional information.

I chaperoned in 2012 and if the trip continues next year, I will chaperone again for Ben. I was the one who had to break the news to them in 2012 about the enforcement of the FP return times.

I also told them about the Sum of All Thrills attraction, which the teachers did not know about.

I am President of the parents group at the middle school, so I also have some involvement from that perspective as well.

We will be arriving by car to YC, how will whether or not we have checked in online affect our arrival process? Will someone greet us outside, or, do we just go in and wait in line for front desk?

I would park the car, march up to the front door and just make eu contact with any of the outdoor greeters. They are great at YC and will point you in the right direction, which will probably be the check-in desk if you're not staying CL.

It will be our first time visiting THE DARK SIDE! :) We love BC, but I think we can love YC just as much. I know my boy is excited about all the ship decor, and is psyched to rent something at the marina to take out on the lake. Me?? I heard YC had the same WONDERFUL scent as BC! If this is true, I'll feel at home as soon as I walk in the front doors. Aaaaaahhhhh......

Same scent, same background soundtrack. I've found that when staying at BC/YC, you really feel like you're staying at BOTH resorts. For me, YC has a slightly more grown-up feel ( but still kid-friendly), and no one can deny....it's a LOT quieter than BC. I also prefer the dining options at YC and the gift-shop. I'm sure you will love it too!
I was hesitant on my first visit and actually got into a conversation with the SECOND nicest greeter at WDW. I forget his name, but he was working in the lobby the day I checked in to YC for the first time. I told him I was missing BC and BWI for that matter. He was great about listing reasons why I should give YC a fair shake, but ended with "If you're not perfectly happy, come see me and if there's a room to be found at BC or BWI, we'll get you into it." I appreciated that, gave it a try, and now, we love YC. Love those Disney greeters too!

If you do online check in and list an arrival time then they will have a general idea of when to expect you. And maybe they will even have your room ready for you. We have done online check in three times now and our room was ready either when we checked in or within twenty minutes of checking in all three times. :)

There are several CM's standing outside the door to the resort. Just approach one of them to tell them that you are checking in. If no one is there at that time, then just walk to the check in desk.

Scott MC, that nice greeter just knew you would end up happy at YC. I know we will too. That whole area around the lake is just so quaint and picturesque!

And this is us on the day we took the Keys to the Kingdom Tour. They were painting the castle and that is white primer on the roof section. The cameras for the TV show The Middle are just out of view to my right. It rained a little that morning.

I took all my pictures with my iPhone, which explains the low quality.

Great photos, makes me want to be there so bad! Is the infamous crane actually gone from the castle? :)

Thanks!!! Do u feel it would be educational for a 15 and 13 year old but still a lot if fun? I don't want it to much like school science class!!can I bri g my own wetsuit? If not can u tell me if wetsuit is super crazy tight? I have an old knee and IT band injury and anything too constructive really flares up my knee. Thanks!! Feel free to pm me if easier

I think it's educational, but not overkill educational. It's fun and the two guides make it really fun. You visit inside where everyone can go and then you also go backstage a lot. The wetsuits were not overtly tight they were comfortable. All one piece to the knee with the little booty shoes. When you make the reservation you can ask questions and if they don't know the answer they will give you a number to the dolphin guides and they will answer all questions... they really are very very helpful. They give you a locker for all your stuff. They allow NO jewelry of any kind to remain on... I have a bracelet that requires a screwdriver to get it off and I had to bring the screwdriver with me to remove it (they helped me out with that since I was traveling solo and needed to put it back on before leaving). Once you go into the tank area they walk you down to the water which is waist deep and seat you on a bench while they bring the dolphins out and then have you walk down to the dolphins where you get to touch them and command them to do tricks followed by photos with them. I really enjoyed it a lot!

I'll be at All Star Movies with our HS Marching Band from June 10-15!

We've been told by our travel agent to have the kids set up MDE accounts now, but we won't be able to link tickets and make FP+ until we get there. We won't get the tix until arrival...Bummer.

Thanks. :)

The cranes were still there when we were at WDW Mar 19th to 25th. They are painting the castle and put them up when working and take them down when they aren't working. This picture was taken before park opening, around 8:00am and the cranes were down then. I was surprised to see the cranes up while they were shooting the television show later that morning. I thought for sure they would take them down during that time. :confused3 But it looked like they were getting close to finishing the paint job.

I'm not sure of their dates, but it might be the same time-frame! I was very impressed with the way the teachers/administrators organized the trip and I was very pleased with the behavior of (most) of the kids during the trip, except the boy who made me cry!

:sad1:

My husband is at MCO at the moment, on a plane, ready to come home. He was one of the chaperones for 400 high school students-- all boys-- enjoying their Senior Trip to WDW.

And, minus the YES classes, that was their experience. He said that the day they got there-- Thursday-- was a mob scene, and they couldn't even get near the FP+ kiosks by the time they got to the parks.

What I think I'll do before my school's Senior Trip in May is to print out the info on FP kiosks; I think Touringplans has a rundown on which ones are least likely to be crowded. I'll give what I find to the Seniors in my study hall and those that were in my homeroom as freshmen.

Do most people leave tips every day for housekeeping or do you leave a tip at the end of your trip? How much do you leave?

We leave about $1 a day per person.

I make up the envelopes before we leave, label them "Mousekeeping" and leave them out each morning when we leave for the parks. In the weeks before we leave, every time I find myself with a $5 bill, I pull it aside until I have 7.

We are leaving a tip every day - for two of us we already budgeted $5 a night for 9 nights. :) But, that may be more than normal, I'm just really not sure.
