Adventures at 40"! May 2014 TR *COMPLETE* 9/10 **NEW** Italy ABD TR link posted 9/29

Hey! Just found your TR now! I am sad to see your trip is almost over, but it has been fun to read it all in one setting. DS is growing up! Soon he will be a able to go on every ride! It must be fun to see WDW through his eyes, as he gets to experience new rides!

I love WL and Will and I will be "going home" there in 10 days. Your TR has made me even more excited about going (and I didn't even think that would be possible), so thanks!

Aww such a cute pic of DS waving to DH :goodvibes

Ugh that's annoying about the Dumbo play area. Cute selfie on the ride though!

Aw man, I'm sorry DS wasn't up for BTMRR :(

Sorry that the crowds were so heavy, but seems like you guys made the best of it. And yay for a DISmeet too!

It looks like a fun day even with the long lines! Thank goodness for play areas and interactive queues!

You've had so many good DIS meets - how fun to meet these people in person and already have so much in common!

I'm sorry that DS was not keen on BTMRR, but bravo for taking him off. I've seen parents force kids crying and screaming on rides. Not fun for anyone involved!

Can't wait to see some parade pics!

It looks like your son had fun in the Winnie the Pooh queue. That's crazy about the Dumbo play area. We did FP+ on it because my nephews picked that #1 to ride, so we missed that area completely. The hair cut pictures are great.

That's too bad he didn't want to ride Big Thunder Mountain and I know it's hard when kids get something set in their mind that they don't want to do. It sounds like you handled it perfectly.

Yay for a DISmeet!

Hmmm...was that also a Sunday? crowds at MK are usual horrible on Sunday. That combined with the days of rain as you said compiled to make it tough. Besides, I don't think May is as slow as the fall when you usually go. (Well, early May isn't too bad, so I guess I don't really know you're exact dates.)

Speaking of DISmeets, I still may be heading down your way, but right now it looks iffy and even if so might be right during your trip to Italy. Truthfully while I'd love to meet you and Dustin, I would prefer to do it during a "pleasure" trip as this would not be a particularly fun trip for me. I'll keep you posted, even if it ends up we can't because of your trip. Gosh, you must be flipping out with it just around corner. Tell Kevin (from the podcast crew) I said "hi" if he remembers me from the BSM pre-trip chats last spring. (I got the impression he didn't like me much, though! Which was too bad as he's my favorite on the podcast.)

We hopped out of line, much to DS's distress, and headed over to Winnie the Pooh. It had a 20 minute wait, which was terrible for that early in the morning, but at least it has an interactive queue to keep DS busy. DH was pretty unhappy to be getting in a 20 minute line first thing in the morning, but from the looks of it, things just weren't going to be walk-on.
:crazy2: Wow. That's not really a good sign of things to come.

Although it killed DH and I to have waited so long for such a short attraction, DS really enjoyed himself, both in the queue and on the ride itself.
Not a big fan of a 20 minute wait, but at least that queue helps.

But then just as we lost DS into the depths of the climbing area, DH said they were just letting you go play for as long as you want, and then you had to join the line at the same point whenever you wanted to go ride, it wasn't actually functioning as a virtual queue or whatever it’s intended as.
Well, that seems rather chaotic... :crazy2:

We didn't get lucky on Donald merchandise, but DS did find a pair of ears he wanted to try on.
Excellent choice! :thumbsup2

This is the point where I learned that having a FP+ for a ride was great, but when you didn't have one, it was a huge disadvantage. I felt bad for all the people queueing up in the outside portion of the queue in endless switchbacks because I knew that could have easily been us or we would have just skipped Pirates altogether.
:crazy2: I'm really going to have to re-evaluate some things before I make FP+ reservations, aren't I?

Although I didn’t get my usual before-photo at the barber pole, he was more cooperative for the after-photo.
Nice job, Paxton! I'm glad that he was cooperative throughout the process. :lmao:

I found Jessica over by the stroller waiting for her crew, who were in the 40 MINUTE LINE for the Magic Carpets!!
What the what!?!?!?!?!? :crazy2: :faint:

Then I felt bad for even trying to take him on the ride in the first place, but I know there’s no way I could have known how he would react.
I'm sorry that he reacted that way. But no, you wouldn't know until you got there that he'd be so adamantly against riding. Nothing you can do about that. It is just too bad that it didn't work out.

Yay! Glad DS rode Splash Mountain ok but too bad about BTM. Oh well, sometimes it can take a while before they are ready to brave certain rides. I can't believe how crowded it was at MK! I know that is was May and all but the stand by times sounded crazy for the morning! So do you like the FP+ verses the regular FP on a crowded day like that?

So I just did a huge catch up:

Love DS's funny face pictures with Lightning McQueen and Mater. Looks like he was really hamming it up.

Your Fantasmic pictures are really great! Really interesting fact about Ariel on the boat. I had no idea and am now going to need to watch for it. Love DS's comment while exiting about freaking out! I feel the same way during all the big show exits.

Great view of Wishes. Love when that type of thing happens.

How great that DS was sooo excited to ride the Disney bus! Our excitement level for our first Disney bus ride each trip is pretty high but the excitement tends to wear off pretty quickly.

So yeah, your DH's Philharmagic shirt is the best. I don't remember ever seeing this one. Love it!

Nice work getting DS on Splash. I still can't get my nearly 11 year old on it. And I have to tell you on our trip I finally rode Kali River Rapids....in a poncho with no shame all because of you in your last report. For Kali it is definitely the way to go and I might consider it for Splash. I really hate walking around in wet clothes so much that I often avoid these rides. If a poncho makes it enjoyable I say do it!

Congrats on the DL trip! We might be returning this summer and I am beyond excited.

Sorry BTMRR didn't go so well but looks like you made the right choice.

So I suggested Melissa & I get a photo to commemorate this wonderful DIS meet before the parade started!

This is the cutest picture and I know I said this to Melissa - but you guys definitely look like sisters in this pic! How fun that you got to meet up! I think she lives in really western Maryland which is fairly remote so I'm not surprised about the no Starbucks. We've pass through there on the way to WVA and there's like one real town, maybe.

Always so jealous of your pirate pictures. They are always so well lit! Love them!

So glad that Paxton did so well with May's haircut. I remember how worried you were about October's. He did great and boy, he really needed that cut! :rotfl2:

Despite the crowds I think you ended up with a well planned day. You got a lot done and those FP's definitely came in handy.

Poor Paxton - I can only how thrilled he must have been when you pulled him out of line for the carousel and from the Dumbo play area. :scratching What the heck was the purpose of the Dumbo beeper anyway? :confused3

Can you believe I have never been through the Dumbo queue? I bet its fun with a little one.

Just got all caught up!

How cool to get in a first ride for Paxton on Splash! (I, for one, am totally okay with ponchos on that). Too bad he wasn't up for Big Thunder, but maybe he will be at DL and I hear that one is super-awesome!! So fun to experience those firsts with him. :goodvibes

Sounds like you had a really nice meet with Melissa and family to make up for your lack of meet with your aunt and uncle. Too bad the lines were so long, but at least you had those FP+ and good weather, I guess.

So excited for your upcoming trips - Italy and Disneyland sound amazing! :thumbsup2

Having been off the DIS grid for such a long time I had a lot of catching up to do but I just did!

Great to hear that you all had a better Fantasmic experience than last time albeit the backstage exit at the end. ;)

Yay, you got to meet Brenda! They are such a pleasure to be around!

I can sympathize with your rainy day at DHS - was having some deja vu moments from our January trip but your DS seems to have had a better stroller cover situation than our DS did with our makeshift poncho converted to stroller cover. :rotfl:

The whole Frozen rush at rope drop is just crazy and we have no intentions of taking part in that even though I was unable to secure FP+s for it last night when our window opened. We'll still enjoy the opening show and take our time walking into MK.

Although I would have loved to catch up with you again if you had made your trip to DC next year, I think you're making the right call. The first week of March is still not vacation-friendly temperatures compared to California or Vegas. Good call on Vegas. I was just there three weekends ago to meet up with my friends while the kids spent time in Ohio and was thinking the same thing that I'd probably wait until the kids are 18 before bringing them here. :rotfl2:

Awesome that you get to go to DLR! Even though we just spent a single day it was so worth it and just as fun as WDW!

Welcome back, Dave!! Don't worry, I was totally enjoying your Hawaii photos in your DIS absence, so it's all good. ;)

Brenda was such a pleasure to meet! Hopefully we can coordinate some time to meet up when we go to SoCal next year! It's too bad we won't be able to head to your neck of the woods, but March was definitely the best time for us to plan a trip, and D.C. just didn't seem like it would be the best for us at that time. But I definitely want to get back someday! And as for Vegas, I was getting really excited as I kept finding more and more to do. Then I read in a Trip Advisor forum about the porn slappers and racy ads on buses & taxis and I got discouraged...I had totally forgotten about all that! Definitely not what I want Paxton being bombarded with for a whole week. :rotfl:

Hopefully you can happen upon some Frozen FP+...a friend of Facebook said she scored some the night before their MK day on her trip! If not, I think you're making the right choice staying out of the rope drop frenzy. It's like nothing I've ever seen, not even when TSM was at its height!

I love that your first post about DCA was Carsland, because that's what I'm most excited about taking Paxton to see! The last two times we have gone have been very short trips where we felt a little rushed at times, so I'm happy this time we'll have 5 full days to take our time, explore, and ride RSR as many times as we can manage!!!

I guess it's only right to let him play after braving the Mountain for the first time.

Awww, did DS make a friend in the Pooh line?

Oh Lord yes. Crowd calenders can be thrown out when you get a lot of rain. As soon as that sun peeks out, they swarm the Kingdom.

Haha, Drunk Hippo. Which ironically is the only way you'd get me on that ride. Maybe.

I think Pirates is one of the biggest changes from FP+. That standby line can get pretty crazy now.

Move It Shake It!! <3 I hope it hasn't changed yet when I'm there in a couple of weeks.

Awww, I love a good DISmeet. You're becoming a pro!! But... No Starbucks where they live??? Is that even possible???

Paxton definitely got a lot of playing in that morning! Thank goodness for interactive queues. Well, most of the time. Not at Dumbo when there's not really a line at all.

I was just so glad that is was sunny for our MK day that I wasn't really bothered by the crowds. DH was getting a little more frustrated that we weren't getting more done, I think. But I was just so happy to be there that I didn't really care if we didn't get to do every single thing we had hoped to do!

The Pirates queue has suffered horribly due to FP+! I was pretty disappointed to see that. And to think that we had to "waste" a FP+ on something we have never had trouble walking right onto in the past. But it was a good thing we had it, or we would have skipped it completely.

I'm disappointed to hear they are changing Move It! I hope the music is still fun and catchy.

:lmao: That's what I asked her!!! Apparently, it IS possible...who knew? :confused3 I was so thrilled that despite our super short trip, we were able to manage several DIS meets!! Hanging out with Melissa & family was so fun!

Great updates and pics. The POTC pics are gorgeous. How did you do it?

Thanks, Scott!! I'm going to have to defer to DH on that question...hopefully I can remind him to chime in with a response because I'm sure it's a bunch of camera jargon that means squat to me. :rotfl:

Aww, too bad DS didn't want to ride Thunder Mountain, but you get a Good Mom Award for not forcing him! I think that it must be so difficult making decisions like that when you know it's possible the fear of the ride could turn into a great love for the ride because you as the parent know your child. At the same time, you also don't want to be the mom who forces your kid on the ride and scars him on future experiences. I tried to practice those judgment calls with my younger brother because my dad would tell him the ride was nothing and not scary, but then once we got in, he purposely tried to make it extra exciting and sometimes scary! I knew that he needed to know what to expect so I'd tell him about the drop in Pirates and when it was coming up instead of being taken by surprise.

I think I'm babbling because it's late, so I don't know if it makes sense, haha.

Thanks, Rachel! I kind of thought if I could sneak him through the queue that he might get on without realizing exactly what we were doing. But as soon as he saw the train car, he was done! We tried to make it sound as non-threatening as possible, but he just wasn't going for it. When we met back up with DH, he said it seemed so much faster than he had ever remembered, probably only because we had been thinking of taking DS on! :rotfl:

Totally makes sense! :goodvibes

Yikes! MK sounded like a madhouse that day. I've been in May three times now, and I've noticed the crowds getting bigger and bigger each year. Lots of people have learned that secret time to go.
Not to me too. FP has increased a lot of wait times. Pirates is now at ridiculous times.

Sorry DS didn't want to ride Big Thunder. But it was smart of you not to push it. Hopefully on your next trip he'll be up for it.

Love that Paxton got his hair cut again at Harmony Barber Shop. A great tradition!

How cool you got to meet Melissa! I can only imagine you two had a lot to talk about. Both of you having boys around the same age, I'm sure you never ran out of talking points. It's pretty neat how the DIS can bring you to people both extremely similar to you and to folks you'd never normally have anything in common sigh. It's great like that.

It was definitely crazy busy! It didn't help that we were only there over the weekend. It sounds like during the week wasn't nearly as crowded with school still in session. But I was just so happy to be there, I couldn't really get too upset at the crowds. And we are so spoiled to October, that didn't really help!!

I really hope he'll be more interested in trying it in March in DL, but we'll see. As exciting as it is that he has reached a height milestone, I'm not in too much of a hurry for him to grow up!!

Haircuts at the barber shop are one of my favorite Disney traditions! I hope we can keep up with it for years to come!

Meeting up with Melissa was SO great! We really did have tons to talk about, and it was fun that we both got to experience something brand new to both of us by watching the parade together!

Oooof those are some bad crowds that early in the morning! It looks like you got a lot of favorites in, though. I love the pictures from the Pooh queue!

I feel your pain, I've always waited a long time in the Peter Pan FP+ line. :confused3

The haircut looks great!

I didn't ride Big Thunder until I was 7 or 8 so I understand DS's reaction. But he'll have many more chances to ride it over the years, I'm sure :thumbsup2

Paxton had a BLAST in the Pooh queue, so that made that 20 minute wait just a little bit more tolerable. We definitely still had a great morning despite the crazy crowds, it was just different than what we are used to experiencing, so we had to manage our expectations a bit.

Seriously, the FP+ lines were absurdly long! There just has to be a faster way than what they have set up. There's no reason a CM should have to be walking up and down announcing that this long line you're entering is the FP+ line and not the standby line!!!

As fun as it was to try new things with him, I'm not in a rush for him to grow up and become a thrill seeker just yet!! I'll enjoy the slower paced rides with him for a little while longer. :goodvibes

Welcome!! That's the worst thing about such a short trip...it's over so fast! But it was still nice to get a Disney fix in when we didn't think we'd be seeing the parks for a lot longer. It's really amazing how new and exciting things that I have done literally hundreds of times seems now that we are getting to experience them with Paxton for the first time! It's a whole new level of magic!

Yay, WL! SO exciting that you will be back so soon! It's such a gorgeous resort, and it was totally the perfect choice for us for such a short trip. Enjoy your visit!!!

He's such a mess! He was probably telling DH to hurry up! :rotfl:

It was super annoying! Why even bother with a pager??? I felt so bad dragging him out of the play area, but he seriously would have stayed in there all day if we had let him. Hopefully we can make it up to him next trip when we have more time in the parks.

I was a little disappointed that he didn't want to ride BTMRR, but ultimately we made the right decision. I don't want to scare him and make him never want to try something again!

We definitely did our best to make the best of it since we were on such limited time. I'm so glad that despite only being there 2 days, we managed several DIS meets!

Those play areas and interactive queues are the BEST thing Disney has done for parents!! It makes waiting in line with them so much easier, except when it's time to drag them away from it. :rotfl:

It was fun to not only have as many DIS meets as we did, but they were all DIS'ers I have been hoping to cross paths with for a long time! It really worked out perfectly that we chose that weekend and had lots of people to meet up & hang out with.

Definitely NOT fun, and a 3 minute ride isn't worth scarring my kid for life! I was happy he braved Splash Mountain, and he still says how much he likes that ride. But BTMRR was just too big of a step for him this time. Maybe he will be more interested in March when we head to DL!

Brace yourself, I have a TON to share!!! I probably need to edit some to get the number down, but it's going to be SO difficult! Hopefully I can do another massive update tonight or tomorrow. :goodvibes

He was having a great time that morning getting to play in between rides. :thumbsup2 I totally wish I would have realized what was happening with the play area and skipped it completely because I felt horrible dragging him out. But he would have played in there all day if we had let him!

Thank you! I felt so bad when he started crying for even trying to take him on there, especially after his reaction when I just walked him through the train car to get to the other side of the platform! The fact that it was way past his usual naptime probably didn't help matters. But oh, well, we'll try again when he's ready!

It was such a great DIS meet! I had so much fun hanging out with Melissa & her family!

It was a Sunday, and the beautiful weather after several days of rain had people coming into MK in DROVES! But I'm glad we chose that day for MK ultimately, because I think I would have been way more sad about spending a day getting soaking wet in MK than I did in DHS. We were there the first weekend in May, and although that Sunday was packed, my family that stayed for the week said it was way better the rest of the time they were there! So I guess early May is still an okay time to go, just beware the Magic Kingdom when it has been downpouring for several days!!

Totally understand if it just doesn't work out with it being a business trip! We'll be out of town the 14th-26th. I can't believe it is getting so close! Only a week left to go! I'll definitely tell Kevin you said hi. :goodvibes I'm so glad I followed your advice about joining in on chat. Even though there wasn't a lot of people in it every week (usually only about 10 or 12 people out of a group of 35), I feel like I have at least gotten to know those people from chat pretty well which will make integrating into the group a little easier since a lot of them have traveled together before!

:crazy2: Wow. That's not really a good sign of things to come.

Not a big fan of a 20 minute wait, but at least that queue helps.

We definitely weren't up to our usual touring level that morning because of the crowds. And also probably because we chose the longest attraction in MK to do first! That ate up quite a bit of time first thing in the morning, but it was totally worth it.

Well, that seems rather chaotic... :crazy2:

Ugh. It was. Totally don't get it!!!

Excellent choice! :thumbsup2

I figured a few DIS'ers would approve, even though DS has absolutely no clue what it is. :rotfl:

:crazy2: I'm really going to have to re-evaluate some things before I make FP+ reservations, aren't I?

Absolutely! FP+ has completely changed the ballgame!

Nice job, Paxton! I'm glad that he was cooperative throughout the process. :lmao:

Really, aside from his trip when he was 2 and he lost it over the hair spraying, he has gotten to be a pro at haircuts, whether at Disney or at home! But I still worry because you just never know with kids...

What the what!?!?!?!?!? :crazy2: :faint:

I KNOW! My uncle looked, I'll just say, less than thrilled to be standing in that line! :lmao:

I'm sorry that he reacted that way. But no, you wouldn't know until you got there that he'd be so adamantly against riding. Nothing you can do about that. It is just too bad that it didn't work out.

It was a disappointment, but I was still just so happy that we had at least been successful in trying out Splash! I really thought that once we got him to the platform and he saw the train he'd be more willing to go on, but clearly not!

Yeah, I think it's going to be awhile before he's ready for BTMRR! However, he does keep talking about how much he loved Splash (even though he seemed more than ready to get off when we actually went on it lol), so maybe he will be more excited next time. And no ponchos!

It was an insanely crowded morning, especially considering how spoiled we have gotten to late October crowds! It was definitely nice knowing we had those 3 FP+ set up and ready to go, but because by default it seems to make standby lines longer, it really made it worse on such a crowded day. Stuff that is normally walk-on or very short was way longer than I have ever seen it. I mean, 40 minutes for Magic Carpets? Give me a break! The Pirates line was crazier than I have EVER seen it! And same for Pirates. So while it was great for the rides you did have a FP+ for, it was torture for the ones you didn't.

If a poncho makes it enjoyable I say do it!

Congrats on the DL trip! We might be returning this summer and I am beyond excited.

Sorry BTMRR didn't go so well but looks like you made the right choice.

He is SUCH a ham! He really knows how to play it up when he knows Daddy is snapping away on the camera!

It's scary to me trying to shuffle out in that crowd, I can't even imagine how much worse it is for him being so small and only coming up to people's butts!

:rotfl: I totally agree about the bus! We were all so excited for the first Disney bus ride (ever for DS, and in a very long time for DH & I), but by the end of the night, I was SO annoyed standing there waiting for a freaking bus to come!!

He got that shirt several years ago, and it's definitely a favorite. :thumbsup2

After 2 trips with a poncho on Splash, I'm beginning to feel less ashamed about it! :rotfl: I have definitely learned it's not the end of the world if it makes your day go by smoother. But I look forward to our next long trip when I can ride it right before we are ready for a break at the resort or leaving for the day when I can go on and not care about getting soaked! I hate walking around wet too, but I'll risk it if I know I can go change if I need to!

Thanks! I am SO excited to be heading back sooner than expected, and even more excited to get to take DS to Carsland for the first time! I can't wait to see his reaction to walking into Radiator Springs!

Thanks, we felt like we did too after seeing his reaction. Forcing him on probably would have ruined him for the rest of the afternoon!

Can you believe I have never been through the Dumbo queue? I bet its fun with a little one.

Aww, thanks, Mary Ellen! I love how that pic of us came out too! She did tell me about what it takes to get out to her house, so I am less surprised after her explanation that she doesn't have Starbucks. It's just so weird to think there are still places in America where they aren't on every corner!!!

Thansk! I think that's DH's favorite dark ride to photograph.

Oh my gosh, did he EVER need that cut!! I was so tempted in the weeks before the trip to just say forget it and go get it cut before, but I'm glad I didn't. It's such a fun tradition now!

I have NO CLUE why they were handing out the beepers!!! It seems like they would just tell you that you could go in and play for as long as you wanted and come back out to ride when you were ready instead of handing you a pager and expecting that you would be paged to ride the attraction when it was your turn. It's definitely fun with a little one, and he was excited to be big enough to go into the climbing area this time and not just confined to the toddler area. Hopefully next trip with more days in MK we can take him in there just to run around and burn off some energy.

:thumbsup2

It was AWESOME to finally be able to experience my most favorite Disney ride with him, and although he didn't LOVE it, he didn't hate it either, so that's a plus! Poor DH, I think he was hoping for that same experience with BTMRR (his favorite) but it just wasn't happening this trip. Like you said, maybe DL will be a different story!

It was a great meet! I wish we could have spent more time with my cousins, but our day just didn't seem to be lining up with theirs. We are talking about maybe taking a big family trip sometime in 2016 with them and my parents, so hopefully that all pans out! Despite the huge crowds, I was more than thankful for beautiful weather on our one and only MK day!!

Thanks, I'm beyond excited for both!!! I can't believe that our Italy countdown started at 900+ days and now it's only 8 days away!!

What we found was that even with chat for about the first 15 minutes it felt awkward being with a bunch of strangers, but usually they kick off with some sort of welcome dinner, but as you started matching faces with the screen names you rapidly realize you're already friends. It'll be great!

Our chat was the same, usually only 6-8 people on chat, out of a group of maybe 12 or so. Still great fun, I missed it after the fact.

Makes sense that several days of rain would make MK crowded. On really rainy days you are better off with Epcot or DHS. We of course spent our rainy day at DAK, because (1) it was near the end of the trip and (2) we can't change the plan! :lmao:

I'll be sure to let you know if I do get down there. Definitely won't be before the 14th. Might be after the 26th.

Since we are arriving early, we already have a food tour booked for a small group of us the night before the welcome dinner, so I think that will also help break the ice! I think I will find myself missing chat nights too. I didn't find I had much to say for the first couple, but now it's so much easier to keep the conversation going.

Yes, keep us updated on your plans! Would love to meet up, but totally understand if it isn't possible. :goodvibes

Day 4 Continued: Sunday May 4th

Finally, we could hear the music and we knew it was time to experience Festival of Fantasy for the first time! I have to preface this by saying that we had to completely rearrange our plans in order to see this parade. Originally, we had thought we’d leave the park around the same time we normally do for a break around 1 pm or so and come back close to 4 pm and do his haircut when we got back in the park. But then we realized we’d be completely missing our chance to see FoF in person for the first time! We were able to reschedule his haircut for earlier in the day no problem, and decided we’d do a later nap in hopes that we could keep DS up a bit later and stay in Magic Kingdom as late as possible.

I’m SO GLAD we made this decision! Not only did it mean we got to meet up with Melissa & family, but we got to enjoy this AMAZING parade! I’m going to apologize in advance for the completely obnoxious number of photos, but it was pretty hard to whittle down to even just these. Not only are the floats amazing, and the colors vibrant, but every single performer in this parade is so amazing that we got tons of great facial expressions and poses that made it hard to edit some out! The costumes of the dancers are absolutely out of this world, which makes for beautiful photos as well.

Away we go, it's a Festival of Fantasy!

The spinning element of this float was so great! It makes it so easy to have a great view of both parts of the float no matter what side of the parade route you were standing on.

Woo hoo, my favorite float is coming!! I can’t believe how amazing this float is, with the swinging element. So much movement and so exciting to watch it coming down the street. Rapunzel was hilarious with her frying pan, and her facial expressions were hilarious!

Day 4 Continued: Sunday May 4th

From under the sea, now to fly off to Neverland! This is another amazing float to see. The colors are absolutely incredible, and the scale is so huge. There is so much going on and so much to look at. It starts off right with the antics of the Lost Boys!

Oh my gosh, what else can be said about this parade?!?! Is it so visually stunning, it's actually breathtaking to watch! I absolutely loved every single second of it! Usually I am not a big fan of change, especially when it comes to Disney World. I was a little upset when I heard Celebrate A Dream Come True was going away, because it was the first afternoon parade we had seen with DS, and he loved it so much. I was even a little skeptical when they did the fashion show to show off the costumes for the new parade because I thought they looked a little weird. But seeing it all come together with the larger than life floats, it all made sense! It all fit together perfectly!

Despite DS being not in the best mood because we were pushing back his hap, it was totally worth staying in the park to experience that amazing and beautiful parade. Definitely a change to the parks that was totally worth it!

We said goodbye to Melissa, Daniel & Gavin, and took our time heading up the street to give the parade time to finish so we could get out of the park and get back to the resort for a nap. However, it didn't seem like the parade was moving! So getting through the crowd was a challenge. I found out later on Instagram that the dragon got stuck and couldn't make the turn! It had to do a lot of reversing and adjusting to finally make it.

We got out of the park and headed to the resort boat launch to head back to the WL! Although the bus probably would have been faster, taking the boat was something I had been looking forward to doing and this seemed like it would be the best time to do so.

We got back to the room around 4:15 pm, but again we had problems getting DS to settle down and fall asleep, despite how tired he had been in the park. It took him about 30 minutes to fall asleep, and we let him sleep until 6:30. I tried to take a nap, but never could fall asleep myself, so I snuck down to the gift shop for a bit to buy a few souvenirs. We got a WL magnet, and a die cast monorail DS had gotten excited about when we had gone through the gift shop the first time. I also picked up an Ariel mug for my cousin who was keeping an eye on our cat for us and loves Little Mermaid. I tried to get a WL shirt I'd had my eye on, but even after going to check in the back inventory, they didn't have it in my size.

Once I got back, DH went down to Roaring Fork and picked us up some dinner. We ate ours while we let DS sleep a little longer. Once we got him up, DH headed down to the bus stop hoping to get to the park first and get us our 4th FP+ selection since we had forgotten to do that before leaving the park. I finished getting DS up and ready to go, and we took his food down with us to the bus stop. There was a Magic Kingdom bus waiting, so we hopped right on...and found DH! Lol Turns out he hadn’t gotten ahead of us at all, so we were all on our way to the park together while DS ate his nuggets.

As soon as we got into MK, DS spilled juice all in his lap, so we had to do a quick shorts change...luckily we had remember a spare change of clothes! I tend to forget that sometimes now that he is fully potty trained. We headed to Fantasyland first, passing up this beauty along the way.

While DH went to the nearest kiosk to book us a 4th FP+ at Haunted Mansion, I took DS over to see Mickey's PhilharMagic. DH got through the kiosk line pretty quickly and was able to meet up with us in the holding area before the show started.

Day 4 Continued: Sunday May 4th

After singing along to PhilharMagic, we headed over to the Mad Tea Party, which had a very short wait.

04-287 by disneymom1024, on Flickr

While we were in line, DS caught sight of the Tomorrowland Speedway next door and started asking to ride. According to the app, it had a pretty long wait, so we had to make a decision. I was able to use the app to change our HM FP+ to one for the Tomorrowland Speedway that was only 10 minutes away! That was one feature of MM+ I really enjoyed, being able to change FP+ reservations around easily on the app. I just wish we wouldn’t have to go to the kiosks and stand in line to book those extra FP+ but maybe that will soon be a feature.

We chose a cup, and DS was immediately ready to spin!

04-293 by disneymom1024, on Flickr

As you can see, DS had figured out that there’s a way to make the cups spin faster than they do on their own! That’s gonna be a problem for me on future trips, I think! After spinning to his heart’s content, we made a quick bathroom stop and then were able to use our Speedway FP+.

04-295 by disneymom1024, on Flickr

Since it had gotten a little tight trying to squeeze all three of us into a car in October, we decided to split up this time. DS said he wanted to ride with DH, so I got in the car ahead of them to take their picture.

DS had a great time getting to drive the car and getting as close as he could to my car in front of them! After that, we were ready for a relaxing spin on the PeopleMover. I was SO relieved when I got the news that the refurb of this ride had been pushed back until after our trip! It has become one of my must-do attractions while in the Magic Kingdom.

Once we got off of our spin around Tomorrowland, DH went to a kiosk and got us a FP+ for Jungle Cruise at 8:50 pm. We were kind of excited about it because we haven’t ever ridden at night, despite always saying we wanted to try it. Then we stopped for a couple of PhotoPass photos headed for the hub.

04-313 by disneymom1024, on Flickr

04-314 by disneymom1024, on Flickr

Wow, those are both awful!

Our FP+ time was only a few minutes away, so we made our way across the hub and over to Adventureland. We were still a few minutes early, and the CM said she couldn’t let us in until 5 minutes before our scheduled time. However, we only stood there a short time when she waved us through 7 minutes ahead of our time. It’s the little things…

04-315 by disneymom1024, on Flickr

That’s either the only picture DH took, or the only one that came out good enough to post from our nighttime jungle excursion. I think though, he said he wanted to just enjoy the ride this time, since JC pics always look the same. There was no one at the FP+ kiosk outside of JC, so DH got us another set for Haunted Mansion for later.

Day 4 Continued: Sunday May 4th

When we went back towards the hub, we could see it was pretty crowded for the parade, but we were planning to see the later one anyway and were really just interested in a place to watch Wishes for now. We stopped on the bridge from Adventureland to the hub, and were still able to enjoy part of the parade from afar. DS was battling the dark with his glow in the dark Jake sword we had brought from home.

We decided to get a little closer before Wishes, so we took the bridge over to Crystal Palace, then went down and found a spot in front of Casey's. There was a CM working hard on crowd control who had kept telling the same group of people they couldn't stop where they were because they were leaving a path open, and they obviously weren't listening so she said under her breath, "Or just ignore me." I couldn't help but laugh when she said that, and she immediately apologized, but I told her it was okay, and I couldn't imagine what she had to deal with every night around this time when the street is so packed!

First up was Celebrate the Magic!

Wowser! Awesome pictures of Wishes! As usual you guys got some great shots! And don't feel bad about too many shots of the parade. I find the more photos in a TR that better.

Impressed you got FIVE FP+. I wonder how many you CAN get. I don't dare book FP+ in the morning, but my intention next month (YAY!) we should have all our FP+ used by 3, with the hopes of getting f fourth for around 7 PM. With the park open until 10 PM, might just be able to get in 5.

I would love at some point in the future to see if it would be possible to get it up to 6-7, like in the 'old' days. :rotfl2:
