Video Debut of Canadian Lumberjack Show

I was at F&W the other day for this and all I can say is WOW! I was about to rip my ears off when passing by. This show is LOUD! I actually speed walked thru Canada to get out of there...
To their credit, there was a small group of people watching the show. I just had to rush through as fast as possible because it was WAY to loud.

p.s. I can't imagine chopping wood and doing a lumberjack show during the super hot summer months. :faint::faint::faint::scared1:

Dan

This is basically Australia all the time. :lmao: We have big competitions here at all times of the year, even when the temperature is over 104.

The show looks incredibly boring.

I don't understand how the performers themselves aren't embarrassed to put on a 'show' like this. You could put all of them together and not come up with an ounce of talent.

Well they are getting paid - and I'm sure it's a lot better than actually working as a lumberjack.

As I understand it their pay has gone down dramatically over the last few years - and it's an extremely difficult and dangerous job.

I don't blame them at all - but it is unfortunate that the show is so lame.

For everyone who is wondering if this show would be better if they had more space, it definitely wouldn't make a difference with these guys. As I said in a previous post, I actually saw this same group of guys put on this same show at our ag fest (basically a smaller version of a county fair) a couple months ago. There, they had easily 5 times, if not more, the amount of space that they have on the Disney stage and yet it was still the same show, nothing extra and was still the same poor talent. Even then I only watched the show because I was flabbergasted at how terrible they were. I mean they all had to throw those axes two or three times before they even hit the target. So if anything the smaller stage is helping them because now they're closer to the target and its therefore harder to miss entirely.

A steady gig in the same location sure beats travelling around for sporadic shows. $$$ trumps embarassment, especially for D-List caliber performers such as those guys.

D-list might actually be a compliment for such wretched "talent", and if the show continues to suck as much as it does now, their gig might not be as steady as they had hoped. Which is what I suspect Disney intended all along. Intentionally book cheap inferior acts, pay them off to get rid of them, then claim guests aren't interested in live entertainment. Let's give guests what they REALLY want, more overpriced schlock shops and upcharge "events."

Sad but true...and unfortunately there seems to be no shortage of idiots who will open their wallets at the schlock shops or pay $60 to $100 for dessert. I guess when the free stuff is so abysmal it makes the crap they charge extra for more attractive.

Now, how about we get some good New Orleans street musicians to replace the former fife and drum group in the American pavilion?

Oh please no, I don't even wander through the French Quarter (the real one) partly because of the new breed of street "musician."

I'm not sure how well a group of unwashed, unshaven "artistes" playing Sweet Home Alabama on a guitar, corn jug, and washboard would go over at Epcot.

Especially if they ARE the real deal. They'd demand $20 just to take a photo of them playing.

But I probably shouldn't give the higher-ups any ideas for new special events or FP+ options.

Great find - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6Dkcx0iet2A

This is 1000% more 'Disney Like' - and Disney could do with reviewing this presentation and staging of a lumberjack show done much better than theirs - sure it is still mighty corny, but a lot more engaging and 'theme park' like the the 'country fayre bottom of the barrel' show that is currenly playing. (sorry if that sounds a bit harsh - and not that the there is anything wrong with the lumberjacks currently trying their best - they'd go down just fine at my local country fayre. But it just isn't what you'd expect from the worlds most popular, most creative, most famous, and most wealthy theme park.

Disney people - check this out - and then look at your own lumberjack show https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6Dkcx0iet2A

Maybe 10% more Disney like...still painful to watch.

I walked by on Monday and stopped for about 15 seconds. The noise from the chainsaws was obnoxious. I'm sure the sculptures were amazing, but I couldn't take the noise long enough to see

Sculptures?!? :rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2:
Watch about 10 minutes in. All these idiots ever do is make sloppy little "chairs" that could probably be made by a 2nd grader...if you could trust one with a chainsaw.

Are people complaining about this show at Guest Services? I really don't want to hear the sounds of chain saws in the World Showcase!

I sure hope so, this is an embarrassment ..... Bring back real entertainment Off Kilter.... Who thought this was a good idea???????????? Maybe the worst idea ever.... and during the F&wF!!!!!! :sad2::sad2::sad2:

I'm waiting to see if I can hear the chainsaws from the Beach Club.

At any rate, Off Kilter likely won't be back, even if management feels the need to get rid of the lumberjacks, unless they are willing to return as independent contractors or on a part time basis and not as full-time Disney employees.

I wonder what would happen if we all stayed away in droves. :rolleyes1

Stayed away from what, Epcot, WDW itself, or the lumberjacks? Nothing probably, at least not until their contract is up.
