What location do people like to request if your number one concern is noise at night. I wonder if upper level is better? Most problems seem to be kids coming home late and running on that metal walkway. in February our room face a nice green area but then we realized that service cart came and went all the time from that location.

Your best bet would probably be high floor, lake view. We have never really had noise issues at Pop no matter where we stay.

We have always booked standard and always been assigned a top floor room until our last trip in September, we were assigned a first floor room and loved it.
I'm not sure what area has "metal walkway" since all the balcony area's between rooms are concrete?
We have never had any noise issues at POP but I would assume that the rooms furthest to the end of each building would avoid the most foot traffic, therefore avoiding most of the noise of kids running.
Definitely do not book a preferred pool or standard pool room since those would have pool noise.
I think standard or preferred would both be fine and 4th floor will definitely avoid any room above yours, cutting out some of the noise and you may be able to add a request (request only-no guarentee) with a CM asking for a room on the end or close to the end.

Good luck and I hope you get the perfect room!:goodvibes

Hi everyone! My DH and I are staying at POP for the first time this August. I definitely don't know as much about POP as I do POR (where I've stayed twice now). I didn't read through all 44 pages of this thread, but I feel like I understand the layout of the hotel pretty well from reading through some of them and checking out maps! Thanks for all of the GREAT info! I do have some questions still, though... I'm hoping someone can help!

1. My DH and I are booking a standard room, which is listed as either 2 double beds or a king bed. My DH is 6'4", so we would be miserable if given a room with double beds. Is there a way to make SURE you get a King room? I haven't actually booked our trip yet - it's in the WDW Cart. I'm going to have to call to book our trip as we have a PIN code to use! Is it possible to make sure of this when you call?

2. We really don't care about having a lake or pool view, the Hippy Dippy pool, or the food court. Our biggest concern is being as close as possible to the buses and having a quiet room in the evenings. We might go to the pool a few times at most and prefer a quieter pool. Looking at this map, it seems that our best bet would actually be in the 80s or 90s, in a building closest to the 90s parking lot. (Both of us were born in the 80s and grew up in the 90s, so it seems fitting.) If we were there, basically we would just need to walk across a parking lot to get to buses. Am I correct in thinking that this is our best bet? Is there any fence that would block us from walking across the lot to get to the bus area?

3. What IS the procedure for setting the A/C to work even when you're not in your hotel room? We don't want to come back for a break from the parks in August to a hot room!!! :scared:

Again, THANK YOU for any help! :thanks:

My husband is 6'6, 300 or so, and we shared a double just fine, with room to spare, this.past week. Rare to get granted a king request, honestly..

Are the washer and dryer machines still coin operated? They were are our last trip in July 2013 but I want to be able to plan accordingly.

They are NOT coin operated. Credit/debit card only. Discovered that this last weekend' when I went to.do laundry with my roll of quarters...

Forgot to add....we were in room 4437 and it was perfect!! So close to everything, lake and Illuminations view. Corner room. Could.not.have asked.for a better location.

Glad to hear they switched to the credit card operated laundry facilities! I hated having to get change, or finding out the change machine was out. The credit card ones are so much easier to use! We had them two weeks ago at the BWI. They don't take Amex though - glad I had my mastercard on me too.

We've been so excited to get back home to Pop, but it's looking like my Mom is wanting to save some money and stay at All Star Sports. Little nervous about it as we love Pop and have never stayed at ASSports. We did stay at ASMovies and it was good but hated the bus situation. I think Sports gets picked up/dropped off first so maybe that will fix that problem when they share. Will it be ok? :(

We love Sports. It's our favorite of the All Stars. We have not found the bus sharing to be an issue. During a total of 22 nights between the 3 All Stars, we shared a bus a total of 6 times. And those 6 times we did, there was maybe 6-8 other people on the bus. We also like the fact that when they don't share, we didn't have to wait for our All Star bus to show up at the park. We would just hop on the first All Star bus to show up. We never waited more than 6 minutes for a bus to head back to the resort. Well except for after park closing, but that's to be expected.

My 2 sons (14 yo & 15 months at the time), my wife & I stayed at Pop late October-early November last year. We had only stayed at WL, CSR and POFQ before. This was our first value resort but we wanted a longer stay so we gave it a try. I worried I was a victim of overhype. I worried about missing out on a lot of things the other resorts offer. Let me say, aside from a few minor issues with Magic Bands & such that can happen at ANY resort, this place is wonderful! Of course we would still prefer deluxe or moderate but I guarantee we will be back someday and I would go there before CSR without question. CMs were friendly, food court was good, my oldest son enjoyed the pool, gift shop was fine, theming was good. It felt welcoming. I won't give away our room location but it was perfect & our first neighbors showed up our last two days & we heard nothing. It was a bit of a walk from the nearest parking lot but I wouldn't have traded it. I'd say my least favorite part was some of the guests but you can't control that anywhere. Some just seemed very...un-Disney-like. The worst was when we watched the final World Series game at the pool bar and almost got to see a fight when a guy standing in front of a tv several people were trying to watch was politely asked to sit down but purposely kept standing there to tick them off. Aside from that, amazing! Not overhyped. Rooms and beds were fine. I always sleep with a fan on & had no issues with the lack of a ceiling fan. Just try it out. Lots of fun.

They have non-preferred rooms in the 50's section - that is my favorite section - it is the section with the big jukebox icon - closest to the parking lot if you are driving

We decided earlier this week to take a trip in late July. My mom got a pin and the deal was too good to pass up! I was wondering how early to leave the resort since we have a pre-park opening breakfast one morning at the MK. I know we will definitely need to leave plenty of time for transport as its summer and there is only bus transport. How much time do yall allow?

We have always had great success when we are at the bus stop 1 hour before we want to be at the park.

Does anyone have experience making an 8am BOG reservation using the buses ? Our trip is in May so wondering if anyone knows if buses run early enough. I like to be as early as possible.

The buses start rolling at 6:30AM. We have had 6 pre-MK opening ADRs and have made every one via bus. Just be at the bus stop by 6:45AM.

Our experience with by passing check-in didn't go well:guilty:. I had received the email saying that we were set up for the by-pass, but we didn't get a text before we arrived, so we went to the desk for regular check-in. We did arrive at 9:30 am, so that may have been an issue. My friend wanted to attach her own credit card to her magic band so her charges wouldn't go on my account. We went ahead and added that, which did not work.....it all go billed to me anyway. At that point they told us the room wasn't ready and we would get a text when it was with the room number and location. We did receive the text about 3 hours later. I'm hoping when I stay at Music in May we will get the room text before we arrive at the resort, otherwise what is the point?!?! They have the information about your arrival time, so they should text you before your stated arrival time with a notice that telling you whether or not your room is ready.

Enjoying all of the posts on this thread! My teen daughter and I will be staying at Pop Century for the first time later this month. :flower1:

Just switched from POFQ to Pop for our August trip. We were going back and forth for awhile, but the 500+ savings was too much to pass up. Plus, we think our kids will enjoy the decor and ambiance more at Pop. My son loved it when he was 5 and my daughter who is now 5 should also love it. Last time, we had a preferred room right next to the lobby area on the first floor. I can't remember hearing a lot of noise from that area. We are hoping for something similar, even though we booked standard. I am looking forward to being back at Pop.
