It's time to get on track and hold myself accountable because if you were to search the internet for the poster child of "You Can't Exercise Yourself Thin" you would find a picture of me!

In 2015 I completed 15 half marathons (not fast but I completed them) and logged over 1,000 intentional workout miles in the process...AND STILL GAINED 20 PLUS POUNDS in the process on top of the 40 pounds that I was hoping to get rid by getting into a more active lifestyle. But instead of using those workouts in a productive way, I allowed them to give myself to eat anything and everything because HEY I AM EXERCISING.

I can't do this anymore...it has to stop. I have figured out the exercise part and on most days I really love it. But it is also time to get the eating under control.

Which leads me to this WISH journal...

This year as I train for 2016 Wine & Dine...I WILL NOT being relying on the cupcakes, cocktails or pixie dust to get me over the finish line but a BETTER ME!

So what is my plan & goals to create this BETTER ME?

Exercise Plan for 2016:
2,016 miles using the FitBit
1,467 INTENTIONAL WORKOUT miles (Distance from my house to the BC Resort)
*Resume Galloway Interval Training this spring starting over at a 5k, then a 10K and finally W&D Half Training with the goal of getting under 3 hours for my half time

Eating Plan for 2016:
Being Premenopausal as well as having PCOS I know that the only diet that will work for me is a Keto/Paleo Diet cutting out ALL sugar and basically all CARBS. It has worked in the past, but I always seem to give up!

How am I going to hold myself accountable?
Everything will be logged and daily documentation is going to be written down in this WISH journal for the WORLD TO SEE (comment and kick me in the hiney)!

Looks like a good plan to me! Although I am a long way off from a half marathon, I've been loving the last two weeks on a Whole30! I lost 60 pounds doing keto paleo in 2014 and gained about 40 back in 2015, I just couldn't stop myself! Back on track in 2016 and have hopefully learned my lesson.

Hey there! I've followed (loosely because they have gotten LONG....) your cupcake posts and happy to see you here.

And....CONGRATS on the 15 half marathons! That is a truly awesome accomplishment!

I seriously am in the same boat. Since I've gotten into running about a year and a half ago I've gained close to 15 pounds. I need to teach my brain that a 9 mile training run DOESN"T earn me unlimited food for 2 days. Haha!

I finally had the opportunity to run a Disney race over marathon weekend (5k and half) and I am completely hooked. I'm heading back for the SW half in April and hoping to register for the marathon (my first) or maybe Goofy IF I can lose some weight. I honestly can't imagine marathon training carrying these extra pounds. I am thinking of starting my own journal here too!! but enough about me......

Looking forward to following along and losing these "running pounds" together!

Would love to share keto ideas with you. I am pretty simple with my eating when I am following the plan. I dont have time to cook crazy meals for myself and then a normal meal for my family. So I usually just cook up a bunch of protein and then have a few veggies on hand...

Whoot get it! Sounds like a very rational plan.

Some people would not call my eating plan rational, but it is doctor approved and is what I know I can lose at.

A CUPCAKE LURKER...love them...yes our threads tend to get crazy...so far our latest for our next one has not gotten out of control yet. I do recognize that you did not lurk all the time!

THANK YOU....it was a huge accomplishment and one that I am not really in the mood to try an beat this year...LOL

I REALLY NEED TO LEARN THIS LESSON...I am glad I am not the only one that 9 miles equals whatever I want.

Congrats on your half! A couple of the cupcakes are doing SW in April. I am shooting for marathon 2018 and would really like to be DOPEY but that is all depending on this weight...I cant get the times I will need if I cant get this weight down!

Would love to follow your journal...it looks like we have a lot of the same goals and missteps!

Looking forward to following along and losing these "running pounds" together!

THANK YOU FOR FOLLOWING THIS ATTEMPT FOR ME TO GET MY LIFE ON TRACK!

Restart 2016 Day 1: January 18

Exercise: I am really happy how the day went considering it was a "non-normal" day for me. My school district had the day off, but the school district that my sons attend did not...SO THAT MEANS A DAY TO HERSELF for mom. What a treat. The weather was quite cold, icy and foggy so my visions of a long walk were out so I hopped on the treadmill to break a long walk into several chunks throughout the day. Then I decided to take advantage of ShopKicks Walk In Holiday Bonus Kicks. This took me to the mall where I quickly discovered lots of people walking...so I joined in and ended up walking over 6 miles in the mall! Not only did I score 900 shopkicks and ended the day with over 10 miles, I discovered a new place to walk!

Food: Good day overall, my macros were off a bit but I was happy when the day ended and I was within calorie and carb range for my overall eating goal! So I am calling it day 1 on my eating right streak! Tuesday we will focus on getting macros a little closer to the percentage for Keto! I did manage to pull of a 16/8 fast day (tinkering with intermittened fasting).

Water: Ugh, not so good! In fact pretty awful! Need to work on that. My goal is 100 oz a day, I was no where near that number.

So let's count the Streaking Up...

StreakGranny1.jpg

Eating: 2016 Streak Days 1

(Calorie Range 1200-1400/Carb Under 20)

Exercise: 2016 Streak Days 18
(Minimum of 1 INTENTIONAL MILE)

Restart 2016 Day 2: January 19

Exercise: Another good day...I logged in 7 INTENTIONAL miles today plus normal walking for almost 22,000 steps. I LOVE my FITBIT so much and the competition it is bringing with friends and family. I know I need to get back in a run training cycle soon but right now I am happy with just the walking. So thankful that my DH got me that treadmill for Christmas...it helps so much!

By the Number: 21,741 steps/9.55 miles/7 miles INTENTIONAL

Eating: My marcos were off again today and I felt so starving that I ate my lunch at 10 am and forgot to pack any sort of snack for the afternoon bewitching hours. I did find some jerky type sticks in the vending machine so that helped LOTS. I made oven baked Chicken fajitas for dinner...minus the tortillas for me and it was a great meal that we all enjoyed. Calories were a little under and carbs a little higher than what I would like, too...but if you look at net carbs then I am still within my 20 carb range for the day...counting that as a win!

By the Number: 1151 Calories/21 carbs (12 net)

StreakGranny1.jpg

Eating Plan Streak: 2 Days
(Calorie Range 1200-1400/Carbs Under 20)

Exercise Streak: 19 Days
(Minimum of 1 INTENTIONAL MILE)

You are doing great!!!

I also got a treadmill last month and that is one thing I am trying to incorporate as well....even on days that I don't officially workout I'm still trying to at least hop on the treadmill and walk a few miles. Hoping it makes a bit of a difference.

I have already learned why they call it the dreadmill because I totally hate doing anything longer than 3 miles on it...right now I am breaking sessions up into 2 mile segments...1 before work, 1 at lunch and 1 at night. Keeps me going....not officially on a training plan yet but the bulk of my training will be late spring, summer and fall so I dont see a lot of training on the the treadmill. Thank goodness!

Restart 2016: Day 3/January 20

Exercise: Another great day with my sister& DIS friend pushing me from afar with the fitbit gadget. I even realized afterwards that I hit my 100 INTENTIONAL MILE mark today! Wahoo. It was such a pretty unseasonably warm and sunny afternoon that I decided since my meeting ended early that I would do my afternoon miles at the park. LOVED BEING IN THE SUNSHINE
By the Numbers: 21,046 steps/9.35 miles/7 intentional workout miles

Eating: A good day, I really found myself slipping in the evening but I grabbed a few almonds and that helped.
By the Numbers: 1210 calories/20 carbs (9 net)

Water: Adding this to my daily challenge to refocus and get on track in 2016...sure wish it was a cocktail though (LOL anyone that knows me knows that I am really just a big talker and little drinker).
By the Numbers: 110 oz

Let's Go STREAKING...

Just started reading your journal. I totally understand what you are saying about running and running and not seeing the lbs drop...been there!

I'm on a path to trying to get at least 15 lbs off right now so I'll lend some cheer-leading and moral support where I can.

Congrats on the huge amount of half marathons though...very impressive!

You need to check out No Fail Fat Burning for Women by Skye St John. It addresses some protocols for IF for women and how exercise should relate to women doing keto/IF.
I've been doing well, even staying on track being stuck at home with the family during the blizzard this weekend! The only difference is that my fasting time has shortened to about 13-14 hours because I have been fixing breakfast and we've had so much work to do outside with the livestock etc.
keep up the good work! It sure is nice and feels indulgent to have some time off without the kids! So glad you did something good for yourself!

Gotta love when life gets in the way! I am hanging in there...NO BINGES which is a good thing and lots of miles...mad that the scale. Trying not to let it get to me.

I will be back later tonight to update and respond.

I just discovered that you're doing this, so I wanted to stop by and say that you're doing awesome!!

Whoooo lots of miles and no binges!!!!

I was actually thinking about you today as well while I was reading some articles and thinking about a friend of mine. A lot of people gain when they run. It ramps up your metabolism, and because of the exercise you think well I can eat whatever. When in reality a lot of easy runs are only burning 250-300 calories which isn't all that much. You're 100% not alone. Today I learned you cannot fuel off of wine. :x

Current Eating Plan Streak: 0 Days (Longest in 2016 4 days)
Current Water Streak: 0 Days (Longest in 2016 3 days)

Okay writing down the numbers I realize none of my days were AWFUL...there was no binges (which is a plus) but a few slip ups that I tracked to be honest with myself. Yesterday, it was the darn GS Cookies...I caved and ate 1 thin mint and 1/2 dinner roll...why? Well I stepped on the scale and realized that I had not lost anything over the past week and I had pretty much been on point all week. I told you I have a love/hate relationship with the scale...if it is good I give myself permission to celebrate with food and if it is bad then I give up and binge. UGH! I know I just need to stay away from it!

Welcome and thank you...I am not thinking of being half crazy in any way this year. I am going to try to focus on getting this weight off to get my time down...so I an do something COMPLETELY crazy before I turn 50!

Can use any cheerleading or hiney kicking I can get!:jumping1:

Whoot whoot looks like you're doing good!!

Nothing too bad at all...a few slip ups but no binges! Thank you!:goodvibes:goodvibes:goodvibes

I am totally going to check out that book. I had hope to go 16/8 today but I was starving at 10 am...LOL...so I made it 14 hours. Tomorrow I will try again. Congrats for sticking to it while being snowed in...I totally would have had a 16 hour eating fest. I know I still all the ME minutes I can...and I love walking outside....can't pass up a pretty day!

I just discovered that you're doing this, so I wanted to stop by and say that you're doing awesome!!

Thanks Beth for stopping in...I am doing this to keep myself accountable a little more than just my little journal.

I think exercise just messes with my rational side of my brain...it numbs it in some way and I think I can eat anything.:eek::eek: I am hoping that tracking my food (before I eat it) will help me realize that I cant have the cupcake (or 2) after a run. You cant fuel off of wine...dang...:rotfl2::confused3 :drinking1...it is water, right?

Wine it's water and grape juice 100% okay. Doesn't lead to dehydration and cramps or anything... :ssst::rotfl:
