Congrats to everyone!
I definitely didn't take into account how hard it is to stop for pictures, wait in line, and then get started running again. With everything in the Magic Kingdom it took 36 minutes for one mile. Crazy! I estimated with waiting in line and my average for the 10k I would spend about 4 hours on the half - and I finished at 4:01 (my "normal" time is around 2:30). It's a lot harder to be out there for so long. But I got a ton of pictures so totally worth it!
My wife and I were very similar. We started in corral F, but finished in 3:24 (exactly an hour more than our PR). For both the 10k and Half, it was relatively cold at race start, and running (warming up), stopping for pictures (getting cold), starting up again (warming up), stopping (brrrr).... and so on... was much more challenging than we anticipated. Our longest stop was almost 10 minutes for the princes at mile 2 of the Half. Of course, when we saw them again on the way back to Epcot, their line was about 1/4 of what we waited in. Live and learn!
Overall, I had a BLAST this weekend! I think the highlight of the 10K was getting a picture with Lumiere and Cogsworth. LADIES! IT WAS LUMIERE AND COGSWORTH!
LUMIERE AND COGSWORTH! Ahem. I was a little bit excited.
At the
Princess Half Marathon, we were a little surprised at the lack of
princesses on the course. We got pictures before the race, but the only ones we saw during the race were Aurora/Belle as you're leaving the MK. We ended up skipping that line, because I believe we would still be waiting in that line right now. We did get lots of great pictures, though, and I really like the "live photos" feature of the new iPhone. It's very cool to see all the action behind us in our pictures.
Best Part of the Weekend: Another fun race with wife in the most Magical Place on Earth!
Most Expensive Part of the Weekend: We MAY have signed up for the Dark Side Challenge while at the expo. Let's just say that mistakes were made. Expensive mistakes. And let's not call them mistakes, but opportunities for glory. Yeah, that sounds better.
