EPCOT... UGH!!! DOUBLE UGH!!!!!!!!!!!

Tell me about it. I saw so many little drunk people staggering around, screaming like banshees, spilling stuff everywhere, running into people, falling down, peeing their pants, having emotional meltdowns....oh, wait. Now that I think about it, those were probably children.

I don't think I'd find young adults drinking and having a good time at World Showcase during the Food & WINE Festival to be that inappropriate or out of the ordinary. Unless they were vomiting on me or shouting lewd things during Frozen Ever After, I'd probably enjoy their happiness. I don't drink, but I think drunk people are pretty amusing.

In the 30+ trips I've had to Disney I have never once seen unruly drunks at Epcot. I'm sure there are, but either I'm just lucky or obliviously enjoying MY OWN vacation. I don't drink...but I'm not sanctimonious about it or anything, I just don't like the way alcohol tastes and I don't like to feel "altered", and I don't have a problem if others want to drink.

Epcot continues to be our favorite park. Sorry it's lost its "muchness" for you.

I have somehow have also missed the unruly droves of parties descending on the World Showcase. Maybe I was considered one of them when I couldn't decide what flavor of margarita I wanted so I got 2.

I'm failing to see what the problem is with people are drinking alcohol at a food and WINE festival. As long as they were not knocking into you because they were so drunk, or spilling their drinks on you, I don't know what the big deal is. If even the sight of people drinking is offensive, maybe next time avoid a festival dedicated in part to drinking.

Not defending the OP here, but the F&W festival wasn't happening during his visit. It begins week after next (while I'M there...yippee!!)

I also am not a big drinker, but I could personally not care how much someone else wants to drink. If they're an adult, that's their decision.
BTW> I'm betting Las Vegas would be a huge shock. They let you walk the streets with open containers and giant plastic cups of "adult beverages."

we just came back and I also noticed in the WS there were lots of people walking around with drinks, more than our last trip it seems. We also saw a few groups with matching t-shirts that said things like, "Murphy family pub crawl" as well as a bachelor party or two. I did not see anyone acting unruly or drunk, just enjoying a drink walking around. We actually struck up a nice conversation outside of England while waiting for our table with the brother of a groom-to-be. He was so nice and talked to our kids and told us how much he and his brother loved Disney and this was his brothers dream, to have his bachelor party at Epcot. I was actually impressed with how everyone was behaving.

We practically live in Epcot and I've seriously never seen any abhorrent behavior...and I'm not a newbie. I'm usually there in early May and mid-September, so I cannot speak to the summertime or holidays. So sorry that was your experience. So glad it has never been mine.

OMG a family pub crawl around WS
would be everything! That's a great idea, thank you!!

Sorry OP you might want avoid WS next spring when our family rolls though :drinking1

We were in EP last Saturday and Sunday (we go to WDW about 6 times a year) and I too saw more "drink around the world" matching t-shirts and 1 bachelorette party. It definitely felt more "adult" than usual. DH and I were actually laughing because one of the biggest lines we encountered in EP was for the tequila bar in Mexico. No one was out of control however. We even ended up doing the chicken dance with a few ladies who had their "drink around the world" t-shirts on. I have absolutely no problem with EP being a little more "adult". It's actually a draw for my DH who can barely stand MK. He enjoys unique alcohol offerings (LOVED the new AbracadaBAR which our whole family was able to enjoy with their addition of non-alcoholic cocktails). If WDW can offer things that appeal to a broad range of people, they will bring in more families, couples, etc. who have a broad range of interests. Some people actually would like to enjoy some alcoholic beverages while on vacation. And good ones, to boot! What's the problem?

I know! I thought it was cute. It was mom, dad, two sons (who looked in mid to late 20's) and a couple of random relatives, like uncles. They had matching bright yellow shirts and looked ready for a good time.

I haven't been to EPCOT in about two year and I thought the same thing then. This 'Drinking Around the World" is getting out of hand. Drunken,( and I mean the bride can't stand on her own or women trying to re live their Pop Warner days), bachelorette parties, guys with beer muscles fake fighting each other. It's pathetic.

Gee, you sound like a ton of fun...

Epcot (and WDW as a whole) is for everyone, not just families, and not just non drinkers. Epcot doesn't have much going for it these days, honestly, in terms of rides, so naturally DISNEY is very much pushing the World Showcase and the associated food and drink (and festivals and concerts) to entice adults to spend time there. They are constantly opening up new lounges and drink stands and promoting them..

I have been to WDW and EPCOT well over 50 times I'm not an idiot. I can see it at the Food and Wine, I can even stretch it and see it at a normal night around World Showcase. I'm no prude, I have my drinks on he weekend and when we go out but if you need to drink mid afternoon(to get drunk), especially in a place that is 80% families with children, you have a problem. Many of these people weren't unruly, but they were the obnoxious drunk type, commenting on people, cursing, walking into people, especially several bridal parties.

I'm sorry you were unhappy in WS. After all that rain, though, I'm sure all those people were happy to let loose a little without ponchos and umbrellas. Perfectly natural. You don't have to like all of WDW. That's ok, too. Next trip, maybe just avoid WS.
