Disney's POLYNESIAN VILLAGE RESORT Information & Questions

For those that have stayed in the DVC Studio at Polynesian, has anyone done it with a family of 5? (We have 2 adults, 5,11,13) Comfortable or too cramped? We don't spend load of time in the room, usually get a 1 bedroom but have always wanted to stay at the Polynesian. Thanks!
We're a family of 5: we put DD11 and DD4 in one queen bed and DS10 in the couch bed. Since the room is bigger than even other deluxe rooms we didn't feel too cramped.

The POLY is definitely one of my favorite Disney resorts *despite never actually having stayed in it. It IS on my Disney bucket list and it will happen someday. Anyways...I wonder...with Moana due to be released, are they going to start featuring her and other Moana characters at the resort. While, I'm sure it would be welcomed, I hope they don't entirely remove Lilo and Stitch's presence there.

Hello!

I thought I would try to rent points for my stay in January. There is lots of availability on the disney site so hoped still some studio/villas available. For Jan 15-20 only okw was available. RATS! I really want to stay monorail area.

I have a cr gv room booked but hoping winter discounts released soon and I can get a poly studio. Want the extra shower!

I always wondered on availability but apparently 4 months out for the quietest time of year is not advance enough.

Happy Planning

I was wondering this. We are booked there next december, and I have been showing the kids Lilo and Stitch, so they recognise them. I hope, even if Moana gets added, that Lilo and Stitch will still be around!

Our first stay at the Poly is almost over and I can definitely say we'll be back! This place is something special.

We're planning on heading to Disney Springs tonight for dinner and some shopping with our 2 boys. We drove here, so we have easy access to a car, so I'm wondering if it is faster/easier to drive to DS or take the bus? Thanks!

I am considering renting points for our planned stay in Jan 2018 (when they are available at 11 months out). I am wondering if anyone can compare a DVC studio lake view to the hotel category? Is it like the hotel lagoon view?

It is a big price difference (based on what it would be if renting or booking with WDW direct for the same dates in 2017 - I know this is subject to change) and I think we can live with the kids on the pull-out couch and no daily housekeeping. Are there any other differences that would make it worth an extra $2,000 for you? (I know this is subjective :)

the lake view DVC rooms are all in moorea, which runs just about parellel to the edge of the lake. the bungalows are in front of most of the building. if you get the 1st floor, your "lake view" will be between the bungalows. 2nd and 3rd floor rooms offer a much better view.

we stayed in a lake view room last week and got 1st floor. we inquired if there was anything else available, and there wasn't. in the end, the manager gave us back the difference in points between lake and standard views.

don't get me wrong - we <3 the poly. and the studio rooms are beautiful. even with the two of us, having the second bathroom was so nice, and we can't wait to stay there with our kids next summer. but the lake view studios are a definite risk. if you book lagoon or TPV with cash, you'd be guaranteed to get what you want.

It is tales like this that make me think that once Poly is fully sold, they will reallocate points, possibly creating a third "view" class.

I hope they do. My husband said it seemed like this wasn't the first time the manager had heard the complaint / comped for it.

It's our home resort and I love it, but if I book lake view, I want to be able to actually see the lake.

Oh, I assure you it's not.

The big things that seem to be happening at Poly DVC is people upset at getting Pago Pago, and anyone getting Lake View first floor.

Points have to held stable across the resort/365 days, but I foresee some juggle where we end up with a Standard, Garden and Preferred View.

Was all set to book Contemporary for our first family deluxe stay for the sole reason of being able to walk "home" after the fireworks at MK. Then my husband's coworker said we must stay at Poly. I'll admit, it looks gorgeous. Maybe watching the fireworks from the Poly beach would be just as good as a walkway to Contemporary?
