Hurricane Matthew Closes WDW - Reopens Saturday, October 8th

just curious,, IF the box lunches were not a normal item. where the heck did they get all those boxes?
also, interesting how different offerings for the boxed lunches change from resort to resort. I know some had great ones & there was some bad "whitebread" ones. I missed where those "poor" boxes were from.. anyone remember? all from one resort?

& staying in rooms, seemed to be different from resort to resort. the poly told guests to stay in rooms, but yet at the contemporary we see pictures of guests with characters playing around NEAR GLASS DOORS *EGAD* where this was one comment that the "stay in your room" was a safety to guests to stay away from glass windows.. *sigh*
My guess is the conference center probably offers boxed lunches for catered events...so that's probably where they got them. As for what went in them - may have varied by what was available at each resort

Similarly, "stay in rooms" makes a lot of sense at a resort with rooms that open outside. At CR, honestly, people are as safe on a low level in a common area as they would be in their rooms, and do not pass outside to get there. So why not? Same would be true at BC/YC and BWV, or within Jambo or Kidani.

If you have a car and feel comfortable with it, a lot of places at Pointe Orlando are open, ando not busy at all. I drive is clear.

We are at the Grand Floridian now, our flight is scheduled to leave tomorrow At 943am we keep get conflicting answers on if the airport check in at the hotel will be operating tomorrow. 2 cast members said yes 2 said no.

I'm so glad I just went and got fried chicken at Publix instead of going to Disney Springs!

Hahahaha... I'm laughing because I got a box of Publix fried chicken on Thursday night before the storm. One of my local friends told me Publix has the best bakery and produce around. She was right. That chicken is crispy and juicy. Reminds me of Dayton's fried chicken back home in Maryland.

Also glad we stocked up our kitchen before the storm. Even got wine. I only venture outside to see what the weather's like. Inside I am "fat and happy", as they say.

I hope all the Disney resort guests are making the best of it. Lines may be long but you all got to survive a major hurricane together. (Everyone in Orlando is breathing a huge sigh of relief. Remember Matthew was the worst hurricane this region has ever faced. If it hadn't taken that midnight jog east at the very last moment, today's stories would have been very tragic. As it is northern Florida, Georgia and South Carolina are getting hit hard.)

Things are good here at AoA. They had Jessie, a couple of Green Army men, Chip and Rafaki doing meet and greets in the lobby.

They were showing the new Jungle Book movie and all the arcade games were free! They were also cleaning up the big blue pool.

That was a few hours ago - I'm a mean mom and I'm making my kid finish her homework before we do anything else.

You're not mean, you're a good mom. Better to get the homework done now so you can spend the rest of the weekend having fun.
