Podcast Cruise 6.0!!! Official Info

This sailing skewed older than almost any other cruise I have ever been on
I've been reading some Oasis reviews on cruisecritic (not just from our sailing) and there have been several that mentioned the elderly demographic so apparently it wasn't confined to our trip. For whatever reason, Oasis seems to be attracting a particularly old crowd.

This was my 3rd time on the Oasis, and in 30 plus cruises it was the second oldest demographic I've seen. The reasons will be the same I mentioned, whatever the sailing. If the ship isn't full the groups I mentioned in my previous post will be offered deep discounts or complimentary cruises. These groups tend to be older with the time and resources to travel last minute. There will also be Florida resident rate offered to fill ships which often is the same older demographic. Truth of the matter is cruise lines with large fleets and especially large ships like the Oasis, need this demographic to fill cabins when families and working folks arent traveling. With the new Harmony sailing, the demand for the Oasis and Allure will drop for awhile.

I didn't have any issues with the older demographic. I actually had fun joking with them when we were in the elevators. One lady made me laugh out loud when we were in a crowded elevator, and saw another person approaching, and she said, "Please hurry before she pushes the button!" It was pretty funny. They had no impact on any of the activities that we did on or off the ship.

True indeed. We're RCL Diamond, FL residents, and apparently gambled enough or previous RCL cruises that we got numerous emails about special rates (including a "free" cruise) for this sailing. And yes indeed we probably qualify as the "older" demographic even though we refuse to grow up.

The only issue I had was all the scooters that were running around made getting around a bit harder and elevators even more crowded and slower.

I would not count you and Val among the "elderly" that I was referring to.

Tracey, that makes sense. With the size of these ships and the number of them out there, it's got to be a tough job to fill them week after week.

And I'm jealous of your cruise count. We're only at 5 but we're working on it.
