Gay character in "Beauty and The Beast"

Due to the gay character in "Beauty and The Beast", will you still take your kids to see the movie?

As a side note, my kids and I have enjoyed Lemony Snicket on Netflix. Neil Patrick Harris, as Count Olaf, dressing in complete drag and singing didn't even prompt a discussion about sexuality in my house.
In other words, I doubt LeFou being gay would even really register with a child unless there has already been specific discussions (one way or the other)

C'mon guys can we stop with the stirring the pot and being rude about those that voted no. Respect needs to go both ways. No one is on here demanding why people voted yes, so let's extend the same courtesy.

The people that voted yes have openly explained why. I am not wanting to be disrespectful (can not speak for other posters) about the people who voted no, but I am genuinely interested in their reasons behind it.

Ian McKellan is an openly gay actor and he plays Cogsworth. What's the difference??

Ian McKellan is gay, but Cogsworth isn't. Josh Gad is not gay, but La Fou is. I think it's a lot easier to ignore the orientation of an actor who you never even see in a movie (only hear until the very end I'm assuming when everyone is human again) vs a live-action character who is part of a movie.

I don't see the problem either way, but some folks do. :confused3

Ok so I just found a clip of the Gaston's song and I've just gotta say that it doesn't seem hidden agenda, sending a message to me. It looks stereotypical flamboyant by the mannerisms and what not. Personally if it wouldn't have been on here and all of the news I would have watched it and afterwards be saying I couldn't believe how flamboyant they made the LeFou character. It's not subtle from the 45 seconds I saw.

That clip is actually not where the "gay" moment happens. The director said he didn't want to spoil it but there is 100% definitively a "gay" moment in the movie with LeFou.

Disney just had their first official same sex kissing scene on Star vs. The Forces of Evil a Disney XD cartoon. A small minority is flipping out over it. Let us not forget the backlash they faced on Good Luck Charlie when one of Charlie's friends had two moms. Disney has proven twice now that the small group who actually boycott over these normal situation aren't hurting their business.

Nowhere did I state that this clip was THE clip where it happens. I merely said I found that clip and after watching, made my observation.

This thread is a great one for putting words in people's mouths and being rude and sarcastic with no repercussions.

Not the person you replied to, but it was my impression that they were just trying to outline that the scene you saw isn't the "peak" of the character's actions

Yes, my kids have known of kids with two moms or two dads since they were in preschool. We've also taught them that anyone even marry someone of any gender.

This exactly ^^^^^.....

I'm the maid of honor in my cousin's wedding this fall. She's marrying a woman. My kids are totally fine with it bc it has always been normal in our family. They've just grown up knowing the 2 of them together. They're happy and in love and good to each other. That's really all there is to it imo. So, a gay character in a movie is hardly a concern.

My boys are ring bearers for our gay friends next month, all they see is 2 guys that love each other, no different to when they were ring bearers for my brother and his wife!
