CBR $75 Gift Card deal ending

On Disney's website it says the gift card can only be used towards "food & beverages or Disney merchandise"
Doesn't mention paying off a room balance
It is a regular Disney Gift Card with no restrictions.

The email reads "This gift card can be used at participating Walt Disney World Resort Food & Beverage and Merchandise locations."

The word "only" is not included-Walt Disney World Resort Food & Beverage and Merchandise locations are one option.

I highly doubt Disney will be handing over gift cards before balances are paid in full. Why would they give out gift cards for something that isn't paid for yet?
I never said they would do that. I said it's possible that you can wait to pay off the room till you arrive and you can get the gift card at check in, when you are also paying off the room. Note the word possible. I have no idea if it will be possible. But it could be. It mostly centers on when they provide the gift card. If it's at check in, at the same time you are paying, then it's worth asking if you can use it to pay towards the room. Worse they say is no and then you use it to pay on room charges instead.

Another option, that is worth asking, they can reverse charges made to a credit card. I've done it when I had gift cards to pay on the room charges and they ran the card before I got there to use them. They reversed the charges to my credit card and I paid with the gift cards. Can they do that in this case, again, I have no idea. But it's something to ask.

And all of the above is only valid for room only. Packages are paid off what, 30 days before arrival, we never book them so I'm not certain

I was told by a CM that it cannot be used against your balance. Not sure where you think it can be, but I'm all ears
Of course it can be used to pay on room charges made via the MB during your trip. All Gift Cards can be. Any CM who tells you otherwise is mistaken or misunderstanding the question.

Exactly.Im already paying a small fortune for our trip of five people incl ddp out of pocket.I dont plan on buying souvenirs etc as the kids have enough.Since im paying out of pocket for the dp the gift card doesn't help me much. What am I gonna use it on that doesnt just go back to Disney's pot of gold? Give me the gift card as a visa or MasterCard then that would help.Disney knows what they are doing.Buyer beware.

You might want to put a pencil to the numbers.

Every time I've run the numbers on DDP for our family, I've never been able to save more than $100 with DDP for the trip. Yes, I've included tax and the refill mugs. And yes, we don't hit a character buffet every night, but even with those, a $75 head start every day on out of pocket dining expenses would certainly make it a better deal for our family.

I completely agree with this suggestion... We used to use free dining all the time, but it's not quite the deal that it used to be, and that's before factoring in having to purchase Park Hoppers and whatnot. We went OP last year, for the first time, and I was shocked at how much less we spent than we expected. This year we went with a RO discount and the numbers are looking pretty good.

That said, we're only a party of three. It's def possible to make out on DDP with larger parties. Always run the numbers!

Plus consider what you truly want to eat. We never eat enough QS meals to work with any dining plan. We eat 90% TS, 10% QS. Only deluxe plan would allow for that and that won't work because we won't ever eat 3 meals a day. Sure, we could force ourselves in to a plan but why do that? It doesn't save money, you'll break even or maybe save $100 and you don't get to eat how you want. Sounds like a loose - loose situation to me.

I agree it really depends on your party size and eating preferences! For my family of 5 FD has always worked out to be the best offer! With three kiddos under 8 we can really use the "break" at a TS but two a day might be pushing it so the QS is nice and not having to worry about buying 3 of every expensive snack they can find is great lol. I really try to use our snack credits on the more expensive options or things that can be subbed as a breakfast or meal item or treats to take home to friends. We also always stay at a MOD so the room discount isn't a substantial amount.
For example this trip at CBR in December for 11N/12D in a standard with 8 day hoppers and no dining we are right around $5200. The DP for our 2 adults and 3 kids would run almost $2400. If you consider we are getting $825 in gift cards from the promotion we would still be almost $1600 short of the cost of the DP. Again it depends on how you eat but we have gone 3 times without the DP and we almost always come out just shy of the actual cost. A 25% room only discount would only be about a $700 savings. Just to throw some numbers out there :)

The gift card will help though. It should cover tips and extras like adult beverages or maybe an appetizer you might decide to order that the DDP doesn't cover. The GC offer worked out well for us, because it means that the money we were initially budgeting for tips and drinks can just stay in our savings account.

Well....just got off the phone again looking for a couple of answers to CBR reservation booked last Thursday. Don't shoot the messenger(who knows how accurate this info is that I just received)...

1 - An email should be coming from CBR resort confirming the $75 GC offer. This info is not stated online when looking at reservation, nor is it in the confirmation email of the reservation. It might be a month or two before email is received, as they are being sent based on arrival date.

2 - If I receive a room discount offer in the mail prior to arrival date, this cannot be applied on top of GC offer. The discount code would amount to a new reservation, and would supercede any other offer...in this case, the $75 GC offer.

Funny side note...CM said that they have been flooded with calls regarding this offer, over the last few days. LOL

Yes, positive rooms are discounted. For all dates for the year? No. But they are discounted for some dates.

The rate I was quoted yesterday for October was the same rate I paid for our stay at the beginning of December last year. Doesn't seem to be discounted.

Thanks so much for the info! Fingers crossed I will get an email for my hotel only booking I made on Saturday! I have been assured I am getting the gift cards by two of the phone agents, but I just feel better about having something in writing! I figured that would be the case if a new, better offer came along. Completely understand that. I bet the CM's have been flooded. When I looked at rates online, it showed that Caribbean Beach had twice as many bookings in the last hour vs. all the other moderates! :)

Because there are no discounts out for Oct. You can't book discounts for any dates but those with discounts. The dates for all current promotions are listed on the website in the Special Offer area.

Exactly. Tips and a few drinks here or there could easily use up $75 a day

I called yesterday to make a reservation for a room only for the last week of October. The CM told me that the $75.00 gift cards can be used to pay on the balance of the room at arrival. I didn't ask, he just volunteered that information. I hope he is correct, as I would like to do that.

Thank you for this info. On 3/14 I booked a few nights at CBR in May and when I checked my confirmation email realized it says nothing about the $75 GC. I'll be on the lookout for a second email about the GC and will call if I don't receive it fairly soon.

Thanks! I thought I erased that comment, was going to post it yesterday and decided not to and somehow it got added on to my other reply about the emailed confirmation for the gift cards (still kinda learning this disboards thing). I understand now though...I initially thought they were offering a discount ON TOP of the $75 gift card (maybe they were at some point). Thought that's what was meant by the discount comment. Now I understand it to be that it was meant for the current up to 25% off deal that they have going on now. :)

It will all depend on when they decide to hand over the GC.

Will they do it at the BEGINNING of the Check-in procedure or AFTER the Check-in procedure and thus after the balance has been paid.

I don't think we will know for sure until Guests actually start checking-in.
