Got an email from VISA at 1:21pm about Free Dining promo.

YAY!!!......but.......I already knew that.
Haha! I still haven't gotten the email from Visa about the promotion. Looks like they won't be emailing me I guess.

I've heard something about a green mickey?

(I'm probably wrong, but the fastest way to get an answer is to be wrong and have someone correct you) :p
Yeah, we used to do the green mickey heads to identify ourselves, but I don't think too many people do it anymore. I've seen a few in the parks and on people's windows at Pop Century.

I just canceled one of my reservations because I found a better deal... any idea how long it takes until I get an email confirmation?

Does anyone know if it is doing me any good to keep refreshing the website? Would open rooms just pop up or would this be like a daily thing to check? Part of me doesn't want to give up... but if it's not worth my agony...

I'm wondering the same thing. I know earlier someone mentioned the distance from the main pool. But I wonder how far it is.
besides main pool all dining. But that is being torn down anyways. They are far out. Outside of the bus loop i believe

Kinda bummed. My TA wasn't able to get me FD on my CBR reservation for Dec 18 - 28th (2 rooms) standard view. Hoping later in the week something will open up. I would change to pirate rooms but have 3 big guys (one is 6'5" and one is 6"3") double beds just won't work :( Congrats to those who got what they wanted. Not that this will stop us from going by no means, was just hoping to save a little money. At least we still have the GC though that will help pay for the tips and extras too. Thank you to all those who helped with information too.

Home Depot used to have disney paint and the paint swatches (?) were mickey heads. The lime green ones were used on trips to let other DISers know who you were. Unfortunately Home Depot doesn't carry the paint anymore. Not sure how they are doing it nowadays. I suppose you could make your own. :flower:

By the time I got through on the phone line this morning, there were no rooms available w/ free dining for our group of 6, so I booked a room only w/military discount at ASMu and added the regular dining plan (which you can do with a military r/o discount) and planned to purchase tickets separately. Then I just checked again and was able to book a family suite at AoA w/ free dining. The r/o plan at ASMu was actually just a bit cheaper even adding tickets, but we've never stayed at AoA and the price difference isn't much. Now I need to decide which to keep and which to cancel. ASMu or AoA?

So I'm seeing availability for 6 days out of the 10 days I want to do. Should I go ahead and book it in the hope that I will be able to extend it over the phone once the madness is over? What are your thoughts? Thanks!!

I'm pretty sure I've lost my mind today refreshing and searching all sorts of options to make this trip work since 5:30 this morning :badpc:. Luckily I have a job where I can get away with this stuff! BUT I FINALLY HAVE A POSSIBLE SOLUTION! If we axe free dining and stay one less night(hotel unavailable on last night) we can find availability at CSR and make it work for way more than we wanted to spend, but at this point I'm in a frenzy and need Disney in my veins. So spending way more $ for less is my solution but it means we get to go to Disney...I suppose this is a win? I need a break :faint:

The cost of a "free" dining package is based on the rack rate of the resort which changes depending on your dates.

I *think* if you book "free" dining with the 2-day park hoppers, you'll be able to upgrade them to 4-day base tickets for $97 more per ticket as long as you don't use the PH feature. FD with a 2-day PH is $1565, add $291 for ticket upgrades and you get $1856. That's a difference of $147 for FD over your $1709 RO discount. Could you feed your family of 3 for 6 days for $147 even sharing meals and drinking water? I don't think so!

That is a game changer, I didn't know I could upgrade two day hoppers to four day regulars. Thank you!

i just got through, been trying since opening - keep trying!
finally!!! i have a hold time of "over 45 minutes" - at least it is good music... and luckily my big boss is a big disney fan and totally gets it!

Our family of 5 (all adults) stayed last year and loved it. Lots of room for everyone and 2 bathrooms was a huge plus!!

Got through to Technical Support and they were unable to resolve my issue over the phone so they have created a ticket and will send me an email when they have some news for me. Interestingly enough, they did a mock reservation and were able to select all four guests with no problem . . . :badpc::badpc::badpc::badpc:
