In your opinion what is the most overrated thing in WDW?

Every parade, MK fireworks/castle projection shows, and Illuminations. I can't figure out why people camp out for these things. I was forced to watch the electrical parade trying to leave MK last time and it was a nightmare. I'd rather ride rides. With that said, I LOVE Peter Pan and Tiki Room and they are must dos for me. I also really enjoyed BOG dinner, but thought it was better than lunch.

•Parades: I can't stand them. I think it's mostly because even when I've camped out for a spot there's always that jerk (usually over 6 feet tall) who tries to slide in front of me with his entire family at the last minute.

•Jungle Cruise: Why would I wait in a long line to see fake animals on a shaky boat when I can go on a safari in Animal Kingdom and see the real deal?

•Splash Mountain: Yes it's themed nicely but it's one of those rides that could literally be plopped anywhere in the world.

•Pirates of the Caribbean: It's something I could do once and never do again.

•Crystal Palace: I've tried this restaurant two or three times for lunch and it gets worse each time.

•Signature dining: Not all but most of the signature dining is ridiculously overpriced. $54 for a steak at lunchtime (I'm looking at you Le Cellier)?

•Pin trading: I don't know if that's still a "hot" thing to do but I don't understand the point of buying pins just to trade them with strangers. I'd rather collect my own.

•Sleeping in: Yes you're on vacation but Disney isn't Bermuda. There's too much to see and do and the morning hours are premium.

•The pressure to do the extras: Dessert parties, in room celebrations (which have jumped significantly in pricing in the last 5 years), etc. I don't understand the need to do the extras when you're already paying a fortune for the room and tickets. It's almost as if just going to Disney World isn't special enough.

I'm might take some heat for this one. Poly. I travelled a lot growing up and I can't get past the fact it looks like a fancied up Red Roof Inn. Plus I think the monorail is overrated. I like the boats better. They force you to slow down and take it all in.
I agree with you! I stayed there right before the renovations in 2012. My boys were 2 and 5 at the time. I didn't find it to be very kid friendly! The boat was very convenient though!

The Poly pool. We stayed there with my two kids who were 15 and 9. They were not impressed and bored most of the time. I found the pool to be very small and just blah. We all like the CBR pool much better.

The monorail. It's good when it's working but it has too many delays/breakdowns.

Dole Whip (freakin sour!) and Candlelight P (my speaker NPH looked like an ant from that far, it was the end of a long tiring day so the mosquitos were LOVIN all the CO2 I was breathing off...the fact that I was sitting still for them was even better)

That's why I love to get the dole whip swirl with pineapple and vanilla! The flavors balance each other out really well. Although this is no longer offered at magic kingdom which is unfortunate.

Pandora. All of it. Disney spent a ton of money and effort on something that there was no demand for. Harry Potter and Star Wars have huge followings. There is a demand for those environments. If you frequent the many conventions around the country, there is virtually zero Avatar presence. No one cares about Avatar. People only care because it's something new.

I agree 100%. Having seen it in person, it's like Disney learned how to make fake plants that glow. wow. FoP is a great ride, it's the shining star of the whole area, but I wasn't really impressed, and I don't understand why it took 8 years to build. Wizarding World is much more immersive and thorough to me, and it was built in less than half the time.

I am yet to visit Pandora, but I completely agree. From the moment I learned that they were building a whole land based on Avatar I did not understand why. I still have not even seen the movie and the fact that there is a whole land at Disney World does not make me want to see the movie either. I will go to Pandora when I have the chance and I am sure that I will think it is pretty and interesting because it is new, but I still think it was a strange decision on Disney's part to spend that much time and money on an entity that does not have much of a cult following.

#1 (IMO) BOG. I got a last minute dinner ressie and thought I had won the lottery. NOPE.

I also agree with a few here:
- Peter Pan [Yawn, go to Philharmagic or the Monsters Inc Laugh room if you want A/C - shorter and more entertaining]
- Dole Whips [There are so many other yummy things for me to spend my calories on]
- Parades/Fireworks [Though I like them because I duck into rides while everyone else is milling around]
- Stormalong Bay [Like @AngiTN I love the Epcot Resort Area though]

The character meet and greets.
I totally agree @pjhootch
For me, I don't want to waste time meeting someone who is dressed up like someone else.
Absolutely. Can't say how grateful I am that my daughter was never into the whole princess worship thing, and naturally my son couldn't care less. When we were at the MK last August I remember my daughter saying "that poor actress must be DYING in that heavy dress".

I just got a dinner reservation yesterday and my kids are psyched (they loved the movie). Personally I'm going into it with my expectations well managed.

Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party. That was such a waste of money for our family. Long lines on all the rides. The parade was cute, but someone had to camp out for a spot to see it and we do not like spending our time that way. Also, the cookies were yuck.

Frozen Every After. I went on it and, to be honest, couldn't see what the fuss was about.

Fantasmic. I feel asleep during it. We all felt like we saw it once, and we're done.

Killamanjaro Safari. It was nice to see the animals, but our bus driver must have throught she was qualifing for the Indy 500, since we sped through it.

I may be a weirdo because I am seriously considering eating at Tony's next time just to see if it really lives up to all the bad hype it gets! :joker:
We did for this reason. And yes, it was as bad as reported to be.

I feel like such a small percentage of visitors must do that that it can't be overrated.

I mean...has anyone actually done (BBB) that twice?

I'm going to add Star Wars to my list. I know, I know. Cash cow and people apparently line up super early so their kids can be Jedi. But it just happened at the wrong time for me. I'm over it. I still will watch the original trilogy (I mean, young Harrison Ford) but the franchise was pretty much dead to me more than a decade ago.

I'd say buffets, but Americans love a good buffet, so I understand why those are popular.
4 times actually, at WDW. Twice at DL, plus a special Frozen version at HS and PL twice. DGD loves dressing up, clearly.
