Minnie Vans "Uber" like transport begins soon!

Any word on when this service might start being available to guests?
Can't be long if they are already hiring for it. I'm interested in the equipment frankly. What vehicles they are using and how it ties in to the MDE app as well as the execution involving pick up and drop off points.

Uber is losing money an at incredible rate. They do not have "deep pockets" - they have empty pockets. Heck, they don't even have a COO. They are a technology start-up company with some financial backing, but no political or financial leverage. They are fighting against companies with deep pockets.

Check out Uber's market valuation. That's more important than their lack of profit.

An the notion that they have "no political or financial leverage" is just not true. They have an army of lobbyists.
I'm certainly not saying that the taxi industry doesn't engage in significant lobbying, as well. But, painting Uber as some David fighting Goliath is wildly inaccurate.

Thanks - this is very useful information. Here is another useful one - the headline:
The taxi industry is crushing Uber and Lyft on the lobbying front, 3,500 to 1

Guess I'm done here. I don't need people "screaming" at me with bold text just because I don't share their viewpoint.

I'm okay with it as long as it isn't extremely pricey. However, I will NOT use a cab service unless absolutely necessary. After living where I live now and hearing the horror stories about the cabbies here, I will not give my money to another cab company ever again. I'll take a bus or rent a car before I do that.

WDWNT posted this on their Twitter a little bit ago, speculating that this will be the load zone for Disney Uber service at the MK. Looks like it's along the walkway to the Contemporary, though no word on where guests would enter/exit (Though it'd have to be before the security check).

Not read all 8 pages so apologies if this is already been stated. However this could end being quite a big thing for international guests who can't use their mobiles while abroad. When I was there we had no way to get an Uber if we didn't have wifi as I didn't have my data plan in the states. Also I was a bit wary of being charged an expensive conversion fee (turned out they charge in your currency of choice but who knew) also some people are still really dubious of Uber, my mum for example, wouldn't use it as there is big issues about people not being insured properly to be an Uber driver.

I live in London so use Uber all the time but I'd be surprised if that was the case where Uber is generally unheard of or local taxis are more likely to be used (such as Glasgow where I'm from).

Slap a Disney name on it and it becomes "safe" "respected" and understood, they could charge what they like people would use it.

I don't need to hear an example from the horror stories, but I will say that it could happen in any "ride-service." What it all comes down to is humans driving humans around town. Of course, BCI checks do help.

Laughing :). Did the Load Zone Sign give it away? :).

Now seriously - I'm personally surprised that this area moved WITHIN the MK Bus Zone. For years, the MK folks have had to chase confused drivers OUT of there. The area is a bit tight.... guessing it's going to cause issues for the dispatchers if any unmarked uber-like vehicle is allowed :).

Oh based on last trip (4-25-2017) .... that Load Zone is PAST (as in "within the Park") current Security Check point on the Contemporary walkway...

That load zone picture hints at what Disney can do here. Use a cheaper Uber and get out at the TTC or use more expensive Disney-Uber and get out at the bus drop off next to MK! Similar preferred drop off locations could easily be created at the other theme parks. Disney Springs is another example - the Uber drop and pick up is way past the Cirque building (you are practically in Old Key West Resort, or at least my tired feet felt that way). However, Disney-Uber could have multiple drop off and pick up points throughout Disney Springs. If I was Disney, i would totally do this.

I hope this starts soon. I will most certainly take advantage of the service on my next trip if so.

So they moved the check point? In all my past experience the check point was at the end of the walkway right before the entry opens up.

For some people, it *is* a real job.

Yeah, but driving Uber for Disney isn't paying 6 figures a year. So if I could live on 35k a year, this would be a job choice for me. So maybe instead of saying real I should say skilled/high-paying? Whatever works.

i think Disney found out the majority of their off duty cast members were making a killing working for Uber on their off time. Slap the Disney name on it, use the same people and take a cut. Why not? Delivery to a preferred drop off location and you have leverage.
