So right now I am trying to plan a trip to Disney for a honeymoon merged into a family vacation with our 6 year old daughter and my parents.

We are looking at:
April 28-May 5th 2018
VS
August 30th - Sept. 5th 2018
(^^^ or the first two weeks of September)

My family went to Disney April of last year and it was honestly hot for us at times... Tolerable, but reaching the max of what we could handle during midday. End of August / 2 first weeks of September are definitely way better and preferred dates for us.... But, I keep reading August & September are HOT! Will it be that bad the first or 2nd week of September?? Does it cool down at night???
I am having a hard time trying to lock in dates because of this.... :/

Any help, tips or advice is appreciated!!
If you don't have a explanation but could vote in the pole for a suggested time for our situation that would help too! :)
THANK YOU!!! :)

End of August and beginning of September will be extremely hot and humid. And no it won't cool down much at night. You might get some relief from afternoon thunderstorms. Beginning of May may be warm, but you have a much better chance for cooler weather.

Ah, the weather issue. I live here and give this advice all the time. April/May will be hot but it will be considerably less humid.
End of August to first week of Sept - first it's the peak of Hurricane season. Second - it's horribly humid. Like high 90's in the day with 80% humidity. Daily afternoon T-storms that last anywhere from 10-30 min and nightly temps near 80. No exaggeration. Living here I do everything I can to avoid WDW July - end of Sept. Heck even Oct can be pretty brutal. It does not "cool down" or dry out here until about the end of Oct into Nov typically.
If you plan on late spring, plan for August weather in Michigan. If you plan on Aug/Spt plan on the biggest heat wave in July you've ever had and add humidity to it.
Truthful warnings from a 21 year FL resident that lives about 80 miles west of WDW.

I have been in Disney during both periods. April/May is definitely better, weather wise. While April/May is hot, September is HOTTER & HUMID. I will never again go in September.

Now keep this in mind, that is the general weather pattern and subject to change on any given day. I have been there in November and had it with highs in the 90s with humidity. The locals were 'Like damn, it is hot for November'. I have been there in April when we had to buy sweatshirts because it was too cold.

If it matters, I live in Boston.

Another vote for early May. I think Barbydoll8 said it well. If you found April hot then you will not enjoy the heat and humidity of early September.

We were there mid August last year and it was brutal for us northerners.

We love early May. We've also lucked out weather-wise for the most part, but we've also hit some pretty humid days. However, we've visited in August/September quite a bit and without doubt the weather is very humid then. We pretty much have to visit then and have found methods to deal with the weather, but it can be a huge challenge for some folks.

September is brutally hot and humid, especially the first couple of weeks. It's really still summer weather. Many parts of the country, the weather begins to cool off in September, but not Florida.

So if heat/humidity bother you, go in May. It will still be warm, but not nearly as bad as September.

We went in August 3 years ago and experienced temperatures with humidex of 114 every day- uh never again for me.

We went in late April/early May this year and there were comfortable days and hot days but we just went to the pool at our resort during the peak heat of the day to cool off and then came back to the parks. We have been in early September also and we prefer the April/May weather.

Early May will be a lot drier than early September, which is prime hurricane season. Even if you aren't impacted by a hurricane, early September will feature lots of rain and storms.

I would love to hear how the weather is in December and January. Warm enough to swim?

Not for FL residents. LOL Jan/Feb is unpredictable. It is winter and we do get cold. The last 2 winters have been very mild but that could change. I usually liken Jan/Feb to March in the north east. One day it can be warm (70's) and one day it can be cold (40's). The pools at WDW are heated to 84 degrees but that's still cold for us FL peeps.

I voted May because I would be a nervous wreck leading up to a September trip! I would constantly be afraid it would end up canceled because of a hurricane.

It can get hot in May, but it was our favorite time to go before the school schedule came into play. Far fewer of those afternoon showers, and we found it to be good crowd-wise.

I've been both times, and while I recall May mornings being a bit cool, neither had me writing home about the weather. Hurricanes are pretty rare, as well. I vote September for crowd sake.

Voting for May as well! We went for my birthday in early May and while it was hot, it wasn't very humid and it still cooled off at night. August/September is terrible weather-wise. That heat can be intolerable sometimes (though I honestly think it's better than most of the year here in NC)!

Thank you all for your helpful responses!!!! I did hear that the crowds are lower in September as well. I think if we were used to hot weather it would make all the difference. But, Michigan never gets nearly as hot so it's just something we are completely not used too....
I wanted to make sure I'm not underestimating the Florida heat and end up paying thousands of dollars to hang out in the airconditioned room lol.
I genuinely appreciate the feedback!!!
Hearing from those who know has definitely helped me make my choice easier! :)
