2017 Epcot International Food and Wine Festival: August 31, 2017 - November 13, 2017

What's Cooking With....question....

I have read two different reviews of this experience trying to decide if I want to try it, but one reviewer said guests were served a separate plated brunch and then samples of the chef's food while the other said they were only served full portions of the food the chef was demoing. Does anyone know if there is any rhyme or reason to this?

They changed the way it worked last year I beleive. It used to be full thing by the person that came out prepraded, now its a breakfast and item I hear.
 
For those of you who have been to the What's Cooking With events before, can I ask what was on the plated breakfast? I haven't been to one of the special events in the last 2 years. Before that there was a sweet Sunday where you got a breakfast buffet and then dessert samples from the chef. Now it sounds like there is a standard breakfast instead?
 
Took me an hour and 11 minutes, but finally got through and booked everything I wanted. I only did beverage seminars, so didn't think they would be as popular as the others...still wanted to get it booked though!
 
It is ok. I had this last year when I tried both early booking and regular day and still couldn't get into Behind the Scenes at Trader Sam's. I told myself that I would book it this year but it is only in September and I am going in October. Maybe next year!

We were thinking about Trader Sam's but eventually decided against it. Knowing it's still available for one of the days we'll be there is KILLING me. I hope it fills up soon so I can forget about it.
 
I am pleasantly surprised if they don't hang up on me after I have been on hold for an hour at this point. I have had that happen before. I have also had a CM INSIST I could not book an event and it was sold out when it was not.

Just tried for Trader Sam's om 9/27 and she said no availability.

Hahahahha. System just hung up on me after I held for 30 minutes+.
 
I did the "What's Cooking With" with Carla Hall a couple of years ago and she has been one of my very favorites! You will really enjoy her!
We did, too. About 3 years ago I think, or maybe 4? In any case, she was great. This time she isn't there when we are but Robert Irvine is. We have seen him before,too, and also enjoy him so we are going again this trip.
 
I can't get the 11/2 Tequila lunch either. She said it doesn't look open yet. Still on phone getting my beverage demo.

I just called DVC and after 30 minutes on hold, I had no problem booking the tequila lunch on Thursday Oct 12. Glad I tried again. Now I don't have to get up early on Thursday.

I agree. I have to forget about it. Of course both last year and this year we are staying at the Poly so last year I made sure I wasn't there when the event was going on.

when did you call? I have been on hold for nearly two hours now.
 
1) If you were told an event wasn't available, try again! Make sure they use your AP # and Name when looking for available spot.

2) If you are a DVC member, definitely call Member Services instead of 407-939-3378. DVC was excellent in helping my husband while I struggled with the idiot at the regular dining number. It seems that is a common theme this morning. Those calling DVC were helped quickly and efficiently.

I would like to see Robert Irvine again....I've seen him before at this event. But, I have other plans that I don't really want to change. I still may change those plans and try to register for his but I would have to make that decision quickly!

Not me! I did ultimately get what I wanted but...

I got through there right at 9am, call picked up at 9:13, got a CM who did not really know what he was doing and put me on hold once without telling me why -- was about to do it again when I stopped him. Turned out he was checking whether I was eligible for discounts that I KNOW I am not -- he could have asked me! ;) Then he was SO SLOW. All booked by about 9:35.

Just shows how it always pays off to know your stuff before calling. I have VERY FREQUENTLY known more than the CM I spoke with on these things.
