Seriously thinking of Skipping Hollywood Studios this trip!!!

So we leave for Disney in Oct, and I was just notified of yet another closure for Hollywood Studios. This seems like such a waste of a park ticket now with all the closures going on while they transition the park.

Looks like we will have 2 attractions open (Toy Story Mania and Star Tours. I cant count TOT or RockNRoller Coaster cause theyre too scary for us) and then the rest is all Meet and Greets and shows (Beauty and the Beast and Frozen sing a long, as we have already seen Fantasmic, Voyage of the Little Mermaid, and The Indiana Jones Stunt show)

Bummer. We dont have Park Hopper tickets this trip so am I wrong for wanting to skip this park completely and just going to Epcot instead??? What are your thoughts???o_O

Well, with ToT and RnRC out for you I can certainly understand where you are coming from, however the idea that so much is closed at Hollywood Studios is really more of a feeling than a fact. They have really only eliminated a few actual attractions, the Backlot Tour and Lights, Motors Action (and now GMR). The Streets of New York area is also gone, and the Honey I shrunk the Kids playground. Other than that there are still many attractions and they have added the Star Wars stage shows, the Galactic Spectacular, Disney Movie Magic, and several meet & greets. Other than it feeling pretty cramped, it's really not so bad. I totally understand that without ToT and RnRC though that it makes a difference. Personally those are both can't miss for me, so a little time at HS is always in my plans.

We are only at HS for 1/2 day this trip. It's kind of sad as I used to love that park and would spend a day or two dedicated to it. Now, I see it as a transition park and don't blame you for skipping it.

yup, if you dont' want to do those two major attractions, then its probably not worth it . There is also the muppets movie as well which is fun. Personally, I disagree and feel they have closed a lot. It may not be a huge amount but those were major attractions.

GMR is definitely NOT the tipping point that got me to go to the park. We usually skipped it. There's so much more we'd rather do at DHS.

If you were only going there for three rides, and now there are only two rides, then I wouldn't go. But I probably wouldn't have been going for only three rides to begin with.

If you don't have a park hopper and don't have enough admission days to "burn" one at HS, then sure, skip it. Not doing two of their big rides also would be another reason to skip.

But overall, I still think it's a great park and worth the visit. Sure, GMR closing is a big hit to the park, but honestly the ride was outdated anyway. Prior to that, not a ton has actually closed since the construction started. Honey I Shrunk the Kids area (how many people went there?), Streets of America (ditto), and Lights/Motors/Action are really all that are gone. Still plenty of attractions and things to do. You could make a solid park day doing TSMM, Star Tours, Muppets, Indiana Jones, Journey of the Little Mermaid, Frozen Sing a Long, Beauty and the Beast show, Pixar Live show, F!, Star Wars fire works.

You're not wrong if that's what you want to do and you don't care for the 2 headliners there. My family would never skip HS, but we love the entire park.

Agree, if you are not going to ride ToT and RnRC, there would be no point in going to DS for us.

We don't mind walking to DS, we stay at BWV, for some rides in the AM and then leave for another park. There is not enough rides/shows that we like to stay more than a few hours.

I have an ENTIRE HS day for our August trip. It's AK I have only planned as the EMH pandora time. I understand all of the Orlando area is hot and humid, but the design of AK makes it worse! I find it unbearable in March, June, July and a December, so I expect August to be the same.

We're going in November for a short trip with non-hopper tickets. We have five people going (all ride-people more than show-people)...one won't ride ToT, RnRC, or Star Tours, another won't ride ToT or Star Tours, and yet another won't ride ToT or RnRC. If I was going solo again, I'd likely spend a half-day there. As it is, we're just going to skip it this time.

We have trips where we don't even make it to HS and those trips in which we do we're only there for half a day. DH and I have always viewed HS as a 'half park'. There's not enough to keep us there a full day, so we hop.

We are going for a quick 4 day trip and plan on skipping DHS as well. We may optionally go if we decided against a water park day. At most I would do a half day no fast pass with park hopper for DHS and just show up for rope drop.

I completely understand OP's point of view. If I was going to WDW for 7 days or less w/o Park Hopper, I would skip it. However, I have a much longer WDW vacation coming up and have 1 day for HS. Here's why: 1) I have a Mama Melrose Fantasmic Pkg booked and the food is great plus the included appy is nice and 2) I want to see the few remaining legacy attractions at HS before they disappear. I was hoping that would include GMR. One less I can enjoy before Star Wars takes over. At least I will take time to enjoy Muppets, Indiana Jones Stage Show, Little Mermaid, R&R Coaster & Fantasmic before the park transforms.

We're skipping it this year. We are going next week, and are leaving out Hs doesn't even phase me:confused3 We just aren't show people, I like the rides that are there but my 14yr old doesn't, so it's a no brainer for us to skip it.
