Cheap Safe Hotel near Disney World?

Since we have annual passes and they don't expire until beginning of october, I was thinking I might run the kids up for a day. Unfortunately I'm getting a bit too old to do the 3 hours each way in a day especially if we go when the park is open late.

Does anyone know of a cheap safe hotel near disney for the night? When I've looked, all the cheap ones always have terrible reviews. I'm not a scaredy cat and will stay anywhere really but when I'm with the kids, i'd like to know that its at least reasonably safe.

So has anyone stayed in the cheap hotels for a night that can recommend one that is decent? Doesn't need any frills. Ideally as cheap as possible, we are just going to go to sleep.

Surprised no one's responded yet. I haven't been to this one personally, but the Quality Inn & Suites By The Parks looks to be about the cheapest hotel that's well-reviewed. It's just off of US-192, very close to Animal Kingdom, and has free breakfast and Wi-Fi if you're interested.

Thank you, that doesn't look bad, but I'm looking for something more in the 50 dollar range or so.

In the Disney area $50 is probably too low to buy you safety. Your search seems to indicate that.

I was going to suggest Holiday Inn Express, one of my "cheap" places but it is far from your $50 target.

I know you were trying to minimize your after Disney driving but have you considered heading towards home for maybe 30 minutes to get out of the Disney price bubble?

That is a good suggestion, but ideally if I did stay overnight, we would do the park a bit the next day and then drive home.

I've been looking at hotels for first week in October and rates are higher than I had before ... become a busy time.

Check Red Lion Orlando (DD has stayed there and it had a full rehab a few years ago)

Baymont Inn and Suites CELEBRATION (DS has stayed a few times)

Comfort Inn LBV (right by Disney Springs)

Compare direct prices with Orbitz, sometimes they have extra discounts.

I do think you are pushing your safety factor if going for $50 a night.

My wife and I "slummed it" once on one of our many Orlando trips and stayed at a cheap hotel. We were the only guests that spoke English. Never again. Also, our go-to off-property hotel has been the Marriott Village off exit 68 on I-4. It consists of a Fairfield, Courtyard, and Springhill Suites, and they are all about the same price. Fairfield and Springhill Suites have free breakfast, while Courtyard has paid breakfast (it's all hot food, though, and it's less crowded than the free breakfast).

Have you tried Priceline? You don't get to choose the hotel, but can at least choose the neighborhood to guarantee you are in a good area.

I remember getting the Hilton across from Downtown Disney for $50 a night in 2001.

These days. you'd have to find a hotel for around $40 because taxes and fees will likely put you up to $50.

I suggest using hotwire or priceline and adjusting your budget up. $100 is the new $50 in my book.

After Sep 11, I believe everyone was in shock and a state of panic. Two planes just hit and destoryed two monuments . Everyone who travelled stop travelling. Hotels were most likely trying to offer deep discounts to lure people in . It was not a nice time to travel .

My sister and I stayed at Red Lion 2 years ago in November - it was a different name...Maingate Resort, I think. It was clean, cheap and very close and easy to get on Property. I noticed it did go up in price since our stay (@80 now) but they we're still going through renovations while we were there. But I'm pretty sure it's one of the last hotels on 192 before getting to World Drive, so only 1 light away. We felt safe there and would stay there again.

I stayed at Galleria Palms it was about $69 a night but came with full hot breakfast. The rooms seemed like they have been recently renovated .

We used Hotwire for a hotel one night before our stay from midnight to about 7 am. I think the rate was $63 at The Quality Inn Eastgate... It was not worth it!!!! I would not recommend this process at all. I would have never picked this place and if I wanted to, I could have got the hotel for the same price on my own. $100 a night for a couple hours stinks but the $50 range is bad....

If you can handle a 20 minute drive at the end of the day, check out Davenport FL. Lodging is around $55.00. The area seemed safe when we were there a couplee of years ago.

I've stayed at the Hampton Inn in Davenport on US Hwy 27 after going to Lego Land before heading to Disney. Had no problems and felt completly safe.

Putting in a random date into Expedia only 2 hotels come up that are under $50 a night. The better reviewed one only 45% of guests gave a positive review. I think you need to up your budget a little bit to get something near approaching decent. Up your budget to at least $75 before tax.
