Any experience with upgrading half board plus to full board plus?

Looking to book a package this upcoming spring. It includes free half board plus with the option to pay to upgrade to full board plus. I can't decide whether to pay for the upgrade or not. My main concern is time as I believe the lunch vouchers are for buffet/table service and not quick service. If anyone has any thoughts or experience please let me know as we are WDW vets but this will be our first DLP trip!

Hi! We have not done our trip with the meal plan yet, but we originally booked the standard half board. I then went into the menus for the parks and looked at what we were likely to get for food as a family and calculated the cost. Going up to standard full board made sense for us.
Yes, that's three buffets a day on standard full board. Breakfast at the hotel, lunch, and dinner. But, I know that my child, who is not really picky so much as changable, will be able to find something to keep her going. I know my husband will not get hungry. So, peace of mind.
Yes, that is time away from the parks, but from what I have read here, the speed of the counter service is no better now than when we visited in 2007. There is a reason it is not quick service at DLP, or so they say. At a buffet, I don't have to wait for the food after ordering, as I would at a counter service or table service.
Now, on the standard I am limited to only a few buffets. Breakfast is fixed as being at my hotel. Lunch is Plaza, Agrabah, Stars in Studios, or La Grange in the Village. Dinner is those or back at my hotel. For a 4 day stay we are repeating some, especially as I upgraded one breakfast to the character breakfast at the Plaza.
But, we are not going to DLP for the food. We are there for the park, the theming, and the experience. Can't remember the food being much to talk about in 2007. Doesn't look like it has changed much from other's comments.

I agree with olafLover, it would be too much food for us as we tend to only have two meals at DLP, breakfast then either lunch or dinner. If you prefer to have three meals then it would be a good idea. :)

Migraine management means regular meals. We've never been able to successfully get away with two meals a day. Plenty of people do, but it doesn't work for us.

I've heard different things about using the monitory value of the voucher at a QS location. Some people have said it's possible and others said no.

It sounds like it's down to the people who serve you sometimes too.

We're taking the Eurostar to DLP on Monday, so will let you know as we are on the full plan and want to blag come Casey's!!

I'll be watching to see how you get on!
I asked on live chat and they said you couldn't - but they also didn't know Annette's had a take out option either so I'm not entirely sure if I should fully believe them.
I did see a photo of a recent half board voucher that said you could use it at face value though, but I'm not sure if theres a difference between paid and free meal plans.

I know for sure you can use them at face value at (more expensive) buffet en table service restaurants, you will have to pay the difference, don't know about QS
Yeah same, it’s easy at a higher cost TS. I’ll find out tomorrow for QS!!

This is great information! Thank you all so much. At the moment we are leaning towards the full board. We tend to do 3 meals and the buffets give a nice option to eat as much or as little as we want and hopefully won't be extremely time consuming. Considering Remy's and Walts for dinner and paying the difference and Agrabah for lunch. Our trip is on the shorter side, 2 nights 3 days so we wouldn't be repeating anything.

We’ve been using our Plus Full Board vouchers at QS with no issues. Need to use one voucher per person in exchange for a QS meal (example hotdog, fries, drink and brownie from Casey’s). :)

Off to Plaza for dinner soon!
