Disney's YACHT & BEACH CLUB RESORTS Information & Questions

O.K. kids .......... we are OUT !
The bed bug scare was enough to deter us from our stay at BC coming up THIS weekend. Changed our reservation last minute (we arrive SATURDAY !!!)
We lucked out were able to score a King room at POFQ . We grabbed it !
No Dogs, NO bedbugs .........
I really hope you have a great stay at the POFQ, I love the place as a moderate (really like POR better though) but I hate to burst your bubble. Do some background search (Google is a place to start) and you will see that just about every WDW resort has had bed bugs at one time or another over the years (even GF). It's not anything WDW does, it is the guests that bring them in with them. All you can do as a guest is check the room out (look at the mattress in the corner creases for spots of blood) when you arrive and before you unpack. Also look in drawers before you put clothes in any of them. Again, it's not WDW but guests that cause the problems. You cannot "deep clean" every room every time someone leaves. It would not be economical and you would have to forget about any early check-in options. And as for the four-legged, non-service animals, I'll wait for the first report before I get excited about it (and my MIL's pouch pooch doesn't count). $75 is a lot to spend to have your family member sit in a room all day and only go out to a small area every once in a while. Not fair to that family member if you ask me.
Hope it all works out for you.

No Dogs, NO bedbugs .........and about 1/2 the price . Its only a long weekend trip of 3 nights , so we will be fine ! (we had been looking for POR, CS or POFQ from the start anyway, but nothing was available. Settled on BC , but POFQ popped up luckily, so ..........)

We have a stay at YC, for a great rate in January .........but waiting to see how this Dog thing works out before we consider changing. (dont really want to, as the rate was dang good ! 35% off Disney Visa Offer !)

Enjoy you stay! Just a friendly FYI, bed bugs have been in nearly if not all resorts. They have become a "hotel problem" over the past few years. They have been in all hotels, "cheap" to "very expensive" ones all over the country.

Thanks !

Yep , realize all that ! I know anywhere can get them .
Its just that BC has bedbugs NOW , and we check in on Saturday.
Plus we were trying to change to a moderate for a while now, and a King POFQ room popped up . Was not really keen on spending full rack rate for BC anyway ........ $$$$ouch$$$!

Glad you got what you originally wanted at the price you originally wanted! Have a lovely time!!

You know, I've been thinking.
If people turned the TV on for those dogs in the resort rooms they would have something to watch and they probably wouldn't bark.
Here is a handy dandy channel guide for the $75 dollar a night resort dogs (Bed bug sniffing chubby beagles not included because they are at work and the boss doesn't want them slacking off.)

DOG CHANNEL LINE UP
Sporting dogs: ESPN
Hunting dogs: Outdoor channel
Poofy dogs that wear clothes and fit in dog strollers : E! Entertainment
Herding dogs: The Travel channel
Hound dogs: Hallmark channel
Terriers: NFL Red Zone
LabradoodlePuggle and their derivatives: Sci Fi channel
German shepherds: The Military Channel
Pit bulls: Spike TV
Chubby Beagles: the Food Network
* Note All dogs are encouraged to watch Animal Planet and Cesar Millan on the Nat Geo channel

The other MAJOR ̶ ̶H̶Y̶S̶T̶E̶R̶I̶A̶ ̶ ̶. concern is what are we going to do when the dogs realize they can call for room service? The upside to this is that those room service trays that are left in the hallways for days will be sparkling clean from all the licking. If Lassie can save Timmy from the well maybe we can get those dogs to take those trays back to the kitchen.

Just a thought...

I continue to make my way through the thread to respond to posts.

To any of our new friends here who I haven't had a chance to :welcome: yet and to others reporting upcoming trips, I'm glad you are here and I'll get you on the Be Our Guest list as soon as I can.

I think I have read most if not all posts and I want to thank everyone for their informative and civil discussion of Disney's new dog policy at the Yacht Club. I'm impressed that I have not had the need to blow my referee whistle so far. Especially since it is at dog-whistle frequency and can't be heard anyway! And special kudos to ~Ninjamom for adding some humor to the situation in her unique style.

:goodvibes

I'm a newbie and have been lurking for the past month, soaking up everyone's knowl edge about YC/BC. So thank you to all of the regular posters, you've made me so excited for my April 30 - May 6 stay!

However, I'm really nervous about today's announcement. One extended family member is terrified of dogs, after a bad bite. Will they be able to enjoy their vacation if dogs are out and about in public spaces? What are the rules about where dogs can go and how will they be enforced? Most importantly, what about SAB?

I adore my pup but I (selfishly) wish they would have chosen a different resort.

:welcome: to this thread and posting on the DIS.

I'll add you to the Be Our Guest list we keep on Page 1, Post 15. I saw in a subsequent post that you are at BC.

Please let us know if you have any questions about the resort.

Just out of curiosity, what's the cheapest rate you guys have ever gotten for BC/YC? Trying to plan my 3rd stay there and I'm wondering how low the price can go with AP discounts/PIN codes/whatever. :) Thanks!
We were 360 dollars a night with free dining and a 100 dollar gift card for our current stay. I booked early October 2016 and we have a garden view. The free dining was part of a package - we had to buy park tickets too but we were going to anyway.

Hi can I just ask we are due to arrive at yacht club on 8th November for a 2 week special anniversary stay very unhappy about the dog situation as holiday been booked a year and no choice and have seen on another thread that procedure has been updated and dog WILL be in separate areas away from guests like ourselves who do NOT want to encounter them any update appreciated going mad here in UK

Our best information so far is that the dogs WILL be in separate area of the YC resort (the first floor wing out by the quiet pool). I agree with other posters who say at least in the near future, trips in the upcoming months, that people will not be changing their long-time plans to bring their dogs. Based on the cost of bring along an animal companion and the fact that the pets will not be able to accompany their owners in most locations at WDW, I don't think this perk will actually be utilized in large numbers.

We will do our best to post news and experiences as we receive them.

For your trip, I suggest calling the Central Reservations Office now, and the Yacht Club about 10 days before your trip, to let them know you want to be placed away from any dog-occupied rooms

Thank you for you instant reply we have spoken with customer care now just got everything crossed that we are placed well away from the dog area . Were so looking forward to spending our 38th wedding anniversary with you there as we spent our 35th anniversary with you so a very special holiday for us as the service we had last time was impeccable!!

I arrive for 3 nights at the YC this weekend. What's the word on the "dog invasion"? Can anyone speak to how prevalent, obvious, and noisy dogs are at the resort now?
Not much word yet, please let us know what your experience is this weekend. And have a great time!

Ale and Compass reservations are now up for my week (Nov 26-Dec 2)and they have candellight packages. The menu is definitely different than what I was expecting from Captain's Grill old menu, but we are staying at yc so we are going to give breakfast a try one morning.

Why the Hallmark channel for hound dogs? What if you have a chubby hound dog?? Oh god if Lola figures out room service she & Dory will eat us out of house & home (& hotel)! Then again, she can eat her keep at the resort by cleaning dishes. She already does that at home. :)

Question about BC marketplace. Noticed on app menu is down to 2 flatbreads and a salad for lunch. Used to be you could get sandwiches there. Anyone know why the change? We usually eat there for lunch a couple times during trip but not as likely to now with menu so limited.

Hi Susan, I have been following the dog developments closely because we are affected by this, too, except that we will be at POR next week rather than Yacht Club. The swift change in policy from Disney execs has been interesting. I have heard from people who have "inside" information and they report that if a guest requests to be in a canine free area then they will honor their wishes - guaranteed. I am going to confirm the fact that we have been placed in a canine free area when I check in. But I truly don't expect to see many dogs at all.I will be sure to post if I find out about any changes to the policy. :)

They only had flatbreads and custom made salads available at lunch time when we were there in July. The salads were good because there was a large assortment of available toppings that the CM could add to the salad. There were cold sandwiches and pre-made salads in the refrigerator. You could get things like hamburgers at Hurricane Hanna's, so at least that was available. But the downsizing of the counter service restaurants for the deluxe resorts we have stayed at has been a little frustrating.

Can anyone tell me if we will be able to walk from BC to the Boardwalk area or if we must use the water transporation?

We are really excited to stay at an Epcot area resort next year. We have done AKL, WL and Poly. BC is next on our list! I am a bit weary about the whole bedbug thing though and we are not even traveling until next Summer. I am aware that any hotel can get them at any time, but it's a little disheartening to learn that the hotel that I just booked has a current issue with them.
