We will be in The World on Sunday November 19th. Our local family wants to meet up for dinner...we have a reservation for t rex but I am wondering if a sort down restaurant is the best place to try to "visit" with a large family group with small children? I am,wondering if D-luxe burger or Earl of sandwich ( or something like ,that) might be better? More ability to move around and see and talk to different people? Trip is getting close so I am in "over thinking" everything mode. Just hoping to get your opinions on what you think would make for a better family visit dinner! Thanks!

How about a private event? You can contact Disney's Catered Events. I just had a birthday brunch at Dinosaur Lounge. It was so well done and not very expensive. You'll have a private space, customised meal and a party planner and event guide to work with. The private nature of these events makes for great family time. No crowds. No noise.

No matter what you do, trying to "visit" with everyone in a 20 member party is going to be tricky, inevitably you end up chatting with whoever is in direct proximity to you. I agree with the others though and going TS is best as it eliminates any stress related to trying to find tables for that many people at a QS.

There is no guarantee you will find seating together at a QS. That being said, TRex would not be my choice of TS if you want to have a conversation. It's REALLY loud. I would probably do any TS in DS over that one - Planet Hollywood, Rainforest, etc.
I was hoping T rex would entertain the kids...and, lol, I guess I was hoping it wouldn't be TOO loud. But, I fear it will!! Thanks for the input!!

You should call Disney dining and see if they can help. That is a large group. That being said I have eat to see Planet Hollywood that busy. They may be able to help you at short notice.

Echoing the others - you definitely need to reserve something. I'd call the restaurants directly if Disney cannot help. I know it looks like you want DS and there are plenty for you to try there, but don't forget about the restaurants in the Swan/Dolphin if you need more options.

I was thinking about The Fountain if you wanted something fun for the kids. Not sure if they offer that though.

I'm in the same predicament with a party of 42. I just got off with Splitsville and they are able to handle large parties. We may end up doing this. She is sending me info via email.

I would look into Splitsville. They are used to bigger parties, who would like to bowl on a few lanes, but you don't have to bowl. LOTS of seating in different groupings. I would call them to see if you can book .... and if you want to bowl for the kids, you could do a few lanes. The menu is varied and reasonable.

Neither of these have enough seats for their high level of popularity so I can't imagine you could get seating for that many, let alone near each other.

It is VERY VERY loud. If we want to visit, that is one place we will not go.

This might also help: http://wdwprepschool.com/booking-large-groups-for-dining-at-disney-world/

It outlines the max number of people you can make a group reservation for before you have to call to see if its possible.

Totally not questioning the truthfulness of this but curious why some places would cut off at 11 or 9. Normal seating arrangements would fit even numbers....And this kind of affects several of the places I was booking for our next trip as a table of 12.

I noticed that too and thought it was odd! I wondered if maybe that was the biggest table size plus 1 seated at the end? No clue though.

I think these are just for online reservations though. If you find you are unable to book for your party size, I'd call.

I'm liking the suggestion of Splitsville. Sounds fun!

Throwing out something else-could you order to go at Earl of Sandwich then find an out of the way place to have a "picnic" lunch/dinner. That way you can visit easier?
