Things on TV shows that bug you....

It drives me nuts when the series will keep a character, but hire a different actor/actress to play them. I know soap operas used to do this all the time. I don't watch them anymore, so I don't know if they still do, but it makes me crazy.

On Stargate universe their station is under attack and about to blow up right? So they all jump through the stargate and come out on this ship chucking all kinds of stuff hastily thrown together through.

But somehow, they're wearing perfectly done lipstick and make up throughout the entire series.

I guess they had their priorities straight. LEAVE THAT FOOD, FORGET THAT EXTRA CRATE OF AMMO!!! TOSS THE LIPSTICK THROUGH PRONTO!!!!

When the bad guy’s location is discovered a LONG way from where the main character is, but the main character is still the first LEO on the scene.

Bad guy in Dallas, cop in Pittsburgh. Seriously, there’s NOBODY closer that could apprehend the suspect???

Why is it the bad guy has to have 10 minutes of drama in killing the good guy? Just shoot him already you idiot!!! Don't you know if you're a bad guy and you drama, you die by now!!!!???

Horror movies. Hey, let's hide behind all these chainsaws!!!

Fancy crime labs with dark lighting like on Bones and CSI along with the magical black box instrument that will tell you the single hair found is from a North American gray squirrel in less than 10 sec. I am a chemist. I work in a lab everyday. There isn’t fancy mood lighting and put a blob of stuff into a FTIR will not tell you it’s a nickel plated steel like I saw on a CSI episode.

I'm a NICU nurse, so pretty much any story line involving a sick baby annoys me because they never get it right and it's usually over dramatized. I especially hate when they have a premature baby that clearly weighs 8 pounds. Ugh.

Realistically none of the crime shows could exist in the real way. You couldn't get the evidence needed in the amount of time for the shows. That doesn't bother me because I know it's not the normal way and it's just for my entertainment.

On the other hand lots of people do believe in what they see on TV thus what the courts call "the CSI" effect where people *think* they know forensics and crime ways.

**Note it's not just CSI as Law and Order has done damage too as well as other shows**

When characters just disappear after a while never to be seen again. Or when the same show rewrites its own history again and again.

King of Queens was bad for both of these: In the first few episodes of season 1 Carrie had a sister...then she just 'disappeared', no explanation. Nada. Never mentioned again.

The way Doug and Carrie met was seemingly rewritten a couple of times. Also their friendships with Deacon and Kelly. In one episode Carrie and Kelly supposedly went to school together but it was never mentioned again and in other 'flashback' episodes, Carrie is only just meeting Deacon and has never met Kelly. Lame.

Chuck Cunningham was played by two different actors.

When actors play characters that are much younger than they are in real life.

In some cases, someone just looks young for their age and can pull it off, but others don’t appear realistic. Like John Travolta, who was 21 when Welcome Back Kotter started, playing a 15 or 16-yr-old. And I believe he was the youngest in the cast. Most if not all of the Sweathogs were in their 20’s and seemed too old to me.

Same with Glee; most of the cast were in their 20’s when the show started. Gabrielle Carteris was in her 30’s and playing a high school student on Beverly Hills 90210. Why can’t they just cast real teenagers to play teenagers?

HA, I love this thread!

The coffee cup thing, yeah...I don't get it! Is it that hard to fill the cup with something to give it some weight? Dried beans, rice, whatever!! It doesn't have to be coffee or even a liquid.

The thing that bothers me the most, which has also already been mentioned, is the infamous food that nobody eats. Mom makes a delicious breakfast of eggs, bacon, pancakes, toast, juice, coffee, sometimes even cut up FRUIT...ya know, just your average weekday morning spread. Kid sits down at the table, says something and then five seconds later, "I gotta go! See ya!" without ever taking a single bite. Thanks mom, LOL.

I agree with many things already mentioned (seriously Gilmore Girls- you couldn’t put an inch or two of water in any of those to-go cups to make it a little more realistic?) but one thing I haven’t seen mentioned is the atrocious car seat (or lack of!) usages. I’m sure non-parents (or significantly older parents to older kids/teens) wouldn’t notice but omg, so many things I see make me cringe. Babies swaddled in car seats, infants forward facing, incorrect harness usage, 3 year olds in boosters, the list goes on. Car seats are my “thing” and it drives me nuts to see so much misuse.

I agree with many that have been said. My big pet peeve is medical shows (yes, most of the show is unrealistic!), it’s the same group of docs & nurses that work the same shifts all of the time. They can leave together for a drink, go to a party tighter. The docs are all readily available, tests can be done in minutes. The same group of doctors & nurses accompany patient into the MRI or CT scan, read the results, etc. Yes, as has been mentioned time constraints are a big issues.

Roseanne- when David first showed up, his name was Kevin.. lol
Mark's brother's name really was Kevin. Darlene didn't like it, so she started calling him David.
watching an episode of "Golden Girls" (not even sure what channel it was on, on DirecTV)
Probably Hallmark. What time?
Ben after a couple years on Friends.
Chip after Season 1 Of Happy Days LOL
Ben lived with his mother, who also stopped appearing. Can't help you with Chuck; I think they just had too many characters.

Bewitched couldn't have continued without a Darren. Dick York developed severe arthritis. Rosanne didn't want to write out Becky when Lecy Gorenson went off to college. Supposedly, Sarah Chalke resembles her. And there were some jokes in the appropriate episodes referring to the recasting.

Stage parents. When all your actors are 18+, the parents have no say. They can even be banned from the studio or site.
