Tips, hints and suggestions appreciated!

I am scheduled for a biceps tenodesis soon. My doctor told me that I am going to hurt post-op and I am nervous about that.

DH will be taking care of all the cooking and housework

Thanks!

I’ve never had that particular surgery but I’ve had frozen shoulder in both shoulders and had arthroscopy done on both. Locally they don’t use a nerve block pump post surgery as part of the anesthesia and pain management but I went to Houston where they do things better and came home both times with the pump. It made ALL the difference! I couldn’t even feel my shoulder and arm for three days so not much pain. And after it was important to stay on a schedule with the pain meds in order to stay ahead of the pain. Good luck!

And get some extra large button up shirts for post surgery while you are bandaged and in a sling. You don’t want to be putting a shirt on over your head!

Thanks for your replies! My surgeon does not do a pump but will give a nerve block to help with initial pain and allow me to get ahead of things with meds.

I have a few button up shirts ready to go.

Now I just want it over.

My dh is healing from this surgery. He had rotator issues, bone spurs and upon opening up... his bicep was in much worse shape , so he had that procedure as well. Several minimally sutured areas ( bicep was in arm pit area)
Sleeping Upright ( wedged and stable) in a chair helped greatly. Use that ice consistently and take meds as needed.
He used the RX for one day post surgery and moved right to OTC for next several days. PT started quickly and progressing as planned.
Button type, loose comfortable clothing, rest n put urself first while you heal.
Best of luck, Pixie dust ur way!

Thanks! How far out from surgery is you DH? It sounds as if he is doing well!

off top of my head 6-7 weeks at this point. Yes was doing well... then we hit a pothole, he knew immediately that something was wrong :( afterward.
Sprained/strained . Can’t recall specific word, the muscle ( after surgeon did a sono to determine it was not worsesaid if it had been earlier in recovery it may have had issues with “staying attached”..)
PT continues as well as the exercises.
Very lucky! So, take it easy... at this point still being told nothing more than lifting a coffee cup on that side.
How are you doing? Wishing you a Speedy and Uneventful recovery!

Wishing all a speedy and an uneventful as possible recovery. On Monday, October 10, 2016 I had a total right shoulder replacement. Apparently a total replacement is far less complicated than most everything else since the following day my PT removed the sling and my doctor told me I could go back to bicycling the next day. Not willing to put my clumsiness to a test so soon, I waited until Thursday for my return to cycling.

If you have a big comfy recliner, set up camp there. It will act as good bed the first week or so. But theyre narrow enough that you can't roll over on your shoulder.

Someone forgot to tell me to nair my underarm, it was weeks before I could move it..... WHY didnt someone remind me
