New parking fee at POP!

Just throwing this out there, but what if I were to drink a little much at one park and left my car there overnight would they tow it or leave. Asking because I am an AP holder so parking is free at all 4 parks

Agreed. And if you go by the responses in the above mentioned thread, there will be quite a few guests switching to off site.

I will be looking at offsite next year if we do drive down.

I also think like many other things, some people who were ticked about this fee will suck it up, get over it, continue to stay onsite and pay the fee. And if I'm being honest with myself, I know I most likely fall into this category.

I think for the most part, those who drive will find the parking fee a very small part of the total cost of a Disney trip and won't think a thing about it. A few will complain, sure. Mostly those here at Dis will be in that category. But majority of guests, will find it a pebble in the box of rocks that is a Disney trip.

I don't think there is any problems with that. It's not like they would prefer you drive after drinking.

If you are planning to have a few drinks I’d leave the car at the resort and take Disney transportation.

I fly down and land in Ft Lauderdale first and rent car. After our stay there we drive rental to WDW and return car to CCC after resort check in.
Occas we have kept car because WDW was mid trip, rental usually stayed in resort lot. If I have rental car again I’ll probably book a Disney Springs Resort. On Mousesavers they sometimes have codes for waived resort fee or parking or both. Even with parking, they’re cheaper than a WDW comparable resort level.

I believe its $13 per night at value resorts.
If you booked it prior to March 21st (I believe) you don't have to pay.
Also if you have a handicap placecard I don't believe you have to pay either.

Um clearly Disney WANTS people to not rent cars. and instead use their transportation.
That's pretty much the reason for the fee.
They want you "trapped".
If you fly and don't rent a car there's no fee.

I will only consider on site now if we fly in and take the magical express. If we drive? Nope. Off site it will be. (Or another vacation destination entirely.) We drive to save money, no way I will pay this fee on top of what they already charge for their resorts. I'm just that stubborn, LOL.

I think they're just doing it cause they can. It's a huge money maker. So why not?
Sure, trapping people is a bonus, but it's so easy and relatively cheap to uber offsite these days. I think it's less of a reason.

Sorry, but we drive to WDW and do not consider the fee a "very small" cost for us. Staying 9 nights at a Mod, the $171 parking fee increases our resort cost by 12%. The $$ wasted on the parking fee would have paid for almost 2 days of CS meals for our family. It is what it is, and we will not increase our vacation budget, we will just have to cut back on giving WDW $$ in other places, like subtracting a night off our stays etc.

And you fit both categories I provided in the example, a few who will not like it and they will be here at the Dis
Nothing is ever accepted by all

I agree. I will also add they are probably trying to lessen the congestion on their roads a bit. But yeah, first and foremost they want you captive.

As to staying at an off site hotel hopefully people doing that will check first. Many of them charge for parking and also charge "fees".

We drive down and while I'm not thrilled with the fee as AngiTN said it's a pebble in the total cost for us so won't make a difference as to staying on site. We have been staying at the Dolphin a lot lately and they have always had a parking fee so I guess we might just be used to it.

They haven't "always" had a parking fee. The year they instituted it, without warning, I threw a fit and got it waived . Funny thing, that was also my last stay there.

Yes, many offsite hotels charge fees. Many don't. But of the ones that do, their rates are much more in line with "industry standards" (since Disney loves to use that excuse, hahaha!) Disney has no business charging a parking fee when their room rates are already so inflated IMO. And there are many, many offsite options that charge no fees at all, like the many private pool homes around Disney World, the many time share condo resorts such as Bonnet Creek, etc.
