I just called to PC my CSP to a CF and she said I had to go to CS/no fee...whatever that is. So now how long do I wait to turn it into a CF and will it be an issue?
are u still within your year?

I deal. I order a single burger with cheese, lettuce and tomato and when I get it home I add Braswell's Vidalia onion relish, after I remove said lettuce and tomato which I eat separately. We get a small order of fries and split them as they give us a bag full and we can never eat them all even sharing.
@amalone - maybe you can doctor it someway for your hubby!
i walked out with a bacon burger, regular fries and a bacon hot dog. paid $3.00 after $18 off.

Some of you may be a bit tired of hearing about Hamilton, but since I mentioned it to my son sometime last winter, he periodically asks me if I'm going.

So we talked a bit earlier this weekend and I told him that I'd be entering the $10 ticket lottery and that he and my daughters could all enter as well.

Today I got an email from kennedy center about something unrelated which prompted me to go on the ticket site again.

First I found $99 tickets 2nd tier in the back but not together. Well, sitting by yourself kind of takes the fun away, so I let them go.

Kept looking and I found 3 tickets together for $149 each! That's $509.58 for 3 of us! Parking is still available for $20. So on a Friday night also, which is perfect as my son and daughter who will be going have jobs and get off around 4:30pm. Now I will have to check out the dinner options near by and figure out what I want to wear!!! Can you tell I'm just a bit excited?

And, I've got the tickets in the cart; I confirm with daughter the date is okay; call son - date is good; and can't remember my log in password! Have to do the forgot password, wait for email, messed that up and lost the tickets! you have 10 minutes to complete your purchase. Finally get logged in and the tickets are still there and I get through the sale successfully.

Lesson learned - log in first, then browse choices!!!

Soooo, just placing my weekly grocery order online and got to wondering if any of the amex rebate places, Lowes etc, might sell Walmart gift cards. Anyone know?

ETA: I am going to just run over to Lowes and take a pic of the display to clear up all my future questions. :magnify:
I've been wondering that too and can't remember

I don't think so. I was just there too and can't remember 100% but I think it's just Target for those type of stores (they have many other dept stores though like TJMaxx, Bed Bath & Beyond, Macy's stuff like that). I know when I was looking for them for Christmas gifts I ended up actually going to Walmart and used my CF for 5% cashback because I couldn't find them anywhere I had an AmEx offer

I bought a MC GC at my local supermarket using my SPG. I checked the statement and there is not enough detail to show what I bought. However, it’s rather a lot to pay for groceries lol. I gave the GC for a graduation gift so it really wasn’t MS but AMEX might not agree, lol. I would think it would be better to buy them at Lowe’s if they sell them since people can easily spend a lot more money at Lowe’s without GCs.

Given the cost of prescriptions (even with insurance before the deductible is met o_O) these days, it wouldn't be terribly uncommon to drop $500-ish at a grocer. I learned this during my dad's cancer treatment. Now multiple times a week might be suspicious

Sounds like you need to HUCA. I think we've had several people recently who have PCed a CSP to CF or CFU, so I don't see why it would suddenly be an issue.

I just PC'd mine last night; the AF posted the same day I PC'd, so the rep said it MAY auto-refund or I may need to call back and I "will get to speak with another kind counterpart of his" :P. I got it at the end of May (think 5/30 to be exact, so I was already at the one year mark). It's likely as @Albort says because you are still under a year; usually CS is the only option under the one year mark, BUT you should be able to call back and request to go from a CS to a CF/CFU now. That's usually the workaround if within a year.

Are you under a year still? That was the way I pc'ed my CSP when I was still under a year. That might be the old rule though?? If you are over a year, then you should be able to go straight to CF.

Reposting these tips with some updates:

You can redeem UR points for AirBnB gift cards at a 1:1 ratio (1 point = 1¢), starting at 2,500 UR for $25. This is a really bad deal because you can use a CSP or CIP/CSR and earn, respectively, 2x UR or 3x UR when booking with AirBnB directly (travel category bonus), then "cash out" your UR points at 1¢ per point as a statement credit or bank deposit to cover the cost of your AirBnB booking. This is still a bad value, since you can redeem UR points at 1.5¢ per point via the UR travel portal.

For AirBnB, you have two options that I can think of offhand to save some more money or earn additional points:

1. PayPal Digital Gifts (PPDG) often runs sales on eBay for AirBnB e-gift cards.
You get the point that these 8-10% sales happen quite frequently, and tend to ramp up at the end of the quarter when PPDG and eBay are trying to juice up their sales numbers. Check Doctor of Credit regularly, because he's really good about posting gift card deals, or we can tag you here if you're interested.

or

2. The MileagePlus X (MPX) gift card app sells AirBnB e-gift cards.
  • You can earn 2 United MileagePlus (UA) miles/$1 on AirBnB gift cards.
  • AirBnB gift cards max out at $500 on MPX, but you can buy several. (I would not recommend buying several $500 gift cards all in one day because you’ll likely trigger a fraud alert and could get your account frozen!)
  • If you have a United MileagePlus Visa credit card attached to your MPX account, you get a cardmember bonus of 25% more miles on your gift card purchases.
  • You don't have to actually use a MileagePlus Visa credit card to pay for your gift card purchase on MPX to earn the cardmember bonus; use another card which will offer you the rewards/points/miles that you value or a new card you're trying to meet a minimum required spend on for the signup bonus.
So for example, if I buy a $500 AirBnB gift card on MPX, I'll earn 1,000 UA miles + 250 UA miles (because I have a MileagePlus Visa attached to my account) + 1,500 UR (if you pay with your CIP for 3x UR in travel).

Because MPX "pass through" coding is back, when you purchase an eGift card on the MPX app, MPX passes through how that purchase codes to the category of the merchant for which you were buying the gift card. So if you purchase an AirBnB gift card, MPX would pass the coding on that transaction to AirBnB's "travel" category, which would earn you 3x UR if you paid with the CIP or CSR. For more info about MPX is now Carrying Over the Merchant Category.

then

3. Once you've bought your AirBnB gift cards, go to the Delta/AirBnB portal at https://www.deltaairbnb.com, click through and make the booking on AirBnB to earn 1x Delta SkyMiles/$1 on stays. I see this program is also offering 1,000 bonus SkyMiles for new guests and a $25 coupon for first bookings.

Whoa that's a lot lol. Thanks for all of the info! I'm definitely interested in the first option if you are willing to tag me!

Does the UA have an annual fee? I'm pretty sure we will end up flying with United for our Japan trip so it would be nice to get those bonus miles.

Omg so jealous. I’m on vacation too but not Tokyo! We’re in Flagstaff now, Grand Canyon tomorrow. Flagstaff is nicer weather than Phoenix, no idea why someone would want to live where is 105 degrees.

So glad you’re still able to keep your sense of humor and enjoy your vacation
My ILs live in Phoenix and love the weather especially the other 10 months of the year. They never wanted to see snow again when they left MD. Plus my MIL is from Vietnam. Although when we went to visit in August one year, it was sad that the public pools were closed during the week :( I do think my MIL said not to visit at that time again since they hibernate :)

The manger of the hotel called me and sent a gift basket with drinks and snacks. Nice gesture, but I’m going to stick with Disney vacations for awhile lol

ETA this vacation has been so bad I have convinced SO to go to World in December with that free dining package I booked. I just have to get points or bank bonuses to cover the trip.

Yes!! We want to go see the Olympics, which I know is insane because it will be insanely crowded, but I've always wanted to go to the Olympics and to Japan. I'm thinking what we might do is go for the second week of the Olympics and then stay the week after it's over as well to tour around Japan more. I would expect more people would want to be there for opening ceremonies and whatnot, so maybe it'll calm down a little bit the second week. Already starting to accumulate hotel points and try to figure out flight points! If I can get flights and hotels paid for in points then I think it could be a really great trip!

I would *love* to tie the Olympics in to our trip, but I keep going back and forth as to whether the crowds would be worth it or whether we should time our trip to avoid the Olympics rush. We will be traveling with Thomson Family Adventures (we actually put a deposit down last year because they guaranteed us 2017 rates for 2020 by doing that — definitely the farthest in advance I’ve ever booked a trip, which is saying something for me, lol.) I’m so glad we plunked the deposit down, though, because Thomson’s rates for Japan for 2019 are something like $1k more per person than the rate we have locked up for 2020 We are planning to add a few days to the beginning of the trip (which starts in Tokyo) to hit the Disney parks and to do a day trip to Mt. Fuji, and likely a day at the end in Kyoto. Since it is still a couple of years out, we haven’t locked in dates with Thomson yet, so I can continue to mull over the Olympics angle.

I was just reading up on the new AirBnB laws going into affect later this month. There is a use thread on the other lands forum.
I've been all over that lol. I've read up a bunch about the new laws. I found an AirBnB host in Tokyo that just got their license and has already agreed to me renting from them in May. When we are at Disney we will be using the Hilton Tokyo Bay so don't have to worry about the laws there. Then when we go to Kyoto we will be staying at an apartment hotel and the laws won't affect them as much as the AirBnB.

Did they ever actually clean the room/change the bedding?

The closest one that takes it is 23 miles away nevermind there's two within 7 miles, sigh. I do also have the $10 on my chasepay but there's nothing close that I want to try since it's all new to me places. Most are types of food I wouldn't eat or the place seems like it might be shady. Since they are good til the end of the month I'm going to hope some new places get added or I'll give in and try one of the pizza places that's a few miles away.

This is our situation. Literally one sitting at the entrance to the neighborhood, but it isn't included. Saving $18 would be great!

Let us know what you find.

So I ended not finding anything to use for my Walmart/sams club groceries except maybe that one generic one ($4.95 fee on $200 isn't too bad I guess since the rebate is 10%) or Kroger (which I don't shop at).

ETA: I got imgur to work for me. Whoop! Should I make them smaller somehow though?

Anyone here sign up for the new Chase Business Unlimited card? I have seen lots of blogs about it, but haven't seen many mention it here. Are there referrals for this card?

SO after doing some reading this is the issue. I should've just waited for ya'll to reply instead of researching. lol

I got it in June 2017 so my AF doesn't hit til 7/1. So should I call back tomorrow and ask to PC my now CS to a CF or wait awhile?

@wendow it must have been this one I remembered you pc'd under a year, not that CIP I was just asking you about. At least now I know I'm not crazy.
:teeth:

ETA: Oh wait, if I PC to CF I don't have any more UR cards in my name. So what happens to the earnings from the CF? Do they turn into cash back? I have a CIP under a different log in.
