I love credit cards so much!

A lot of eBay resellers will list a hot item as soon as they receive confirmation of their preorder (and include a screenshot of their confirmation screen/email/receipt). Some will even list before they’ve ordered with assurances that they will get the preorder or will refund your money. For hot items, there’s real money at stake in getting your listing up while the iron is hot, before the market is flooded or people lose interest — sometimes it can mean a difference of tens or hundreds of dollars. Especially with preorders or limited edition/stock items, once sold out, people get desperate (FOMO), don’t think rationally, and are much more willing to overspend to know they’ll be getting that item. If they have time to step back and think, they’ll probably be much savvier about price.
It is weird because they have pics posted that are not stock photos.

It's the Bella Suite that is on the UR site (and available with points on ihg). Says it is 720 sqft, has two queens and a double pull-out sofa. PLENTY of space! I called Intercontinental hotels last night and talked to someone and she said if the room says the occupancy is 4, then that is the limit ("no matter how big the room is or how many sleeping spaces there are"). Really puzzling. Are fire codes that must stricter in Vegas?? The Residence Inn not that far away sleeps 6 in 500'ish sq ft with same bed set-up.

I doubt it; they just want you to spend more and get another room. We booked the Bella Suite, but when we checked in, we paid cash to upgrade to something bigger - think it was the Piazza suite. I was just looking online to see if that room allows additional people, but I don't think so. Bummer.

Does the CIC code as 5X from Staples if you order online? I go there for my GC's that I can't get at the grocery but I am about over going into the store. It's like Flash, the sloth, from Zootopia is the cashier. And every single time something goes wrong and then the manager has to come up. It would be much easier to order them online.

Thanks!

Yes.

@Lain that list of what to use where was epic! One q, does PayPal always code as 3x on CIP or does PayPal only code as 3x for specific purchases (like ebay shipping charges)?

The latter.

Two questions from my dh:

When you are not working on a minimum spend, what card do you use for purchases that do not qualify for a bonus amount (for example, car repairs)? Why did you choose to use that card?

Thanks :)

I realized last night that I just put an unexpected $4,000 spend on my CSR instead of DH’s CFU:sad:. I had debated between CSR and Marriott. I decided I valued the UR more, never even considered the CFU.

The BBP has a targeted offer for 20k MR after $5k/3 months: https://www.doctorofcredit.com/amer...lus-20000-point-offer-2x-purchases-50000-cap/

There's also a 10k MR offer via "support link" after $3k/3 months. A few people have their links up for the BBP on /r/DISchurners.

The BBP has no annual fee so it makes for a great card to hold MR points, won't report to your personal credit report or count against 5/24, and earns 2x MR on every purchase up to $50k/calendar year.

[ETA: You mentioned you have 4 Amex credit cards. The BBP is a credit card, so counts against Amex’s limit — I think it’s 5 credit cards now?]

There's some thought, but very mixed DPs, that opening a MR card will reduce your chance of getting targeted for the 100k MR Platinum. I'm not sure if that's true for the BBP. Pretty sure if you open the Premier Rewards Gold ("PRG"), you won't get targeted for the 100k MR Platinum. The PRG was my first Amex card, and I've never received any targeted offers for the 100k MR Platinum, never had any luck triggering 100k, and eventually settled for 75k MR on my first Platinum.

The PRG is a decent card. The public offer is 25k MR, but you can pretty easily use incognito to pull a 50k MR offer after $2k/3 months (best offer is 50k MR after $1k/3 months). It earns 2x MR at restaurants, grocery stores and gas stations, a $100 airline fee credit that's good for a $100 GC from AA or Southwest (or 2x $50 GC from Delta), 3x MR for flights booked directly with airlines, first year AF waived (but $195 AF after that). Bonus categories are nothing spectacular -- especially when the BBP earns 2x MR on everything -- but the card's a moneymaker in its first year with the signup bonus, fee credit, and waived AF. But if you want to hold out for the 100k MR Platinum, or get back under 5/24, you may want to hold off on the PRG.

If you have some big spend coming up, Amex has business versions of their gold and platinum charge cards with big bonuses but high MSRs.

@SouthFayetteFan, any other ideas for @kmc8826 if she wants to start earning MRs?

Even if somebody isn’t interested in the Schwab Plat cash-out...the Schwab Plat thread on DISchurners runs thru all of the MR earning cards and is a good guide :)

Bless BMO Harris, I (stupidly) dropped the ball on enrolling in e-statements on their checking account that I funded for cc spend and got charged a service fee- of $2.00. So here's my reminder to cross your t's and dot your i's folks, usually you won't luck out with a $2 loss on something like that :)

I have a question on booking a package with Disney and then transferring it to Chase within 30 days. Does the transfer affect my access for doing my ADR reservations in any way? The 30 day transfer date and the 180+10 date are about the same time.

My Marriott points posted and I now have 280,000. I’ll be looking at a category 6 hotel and air certificate. I had considered getting Delta miles since there is a hub 15 miles away, but I’m really appreciating SW flexibility. MSP is a 4hr drive and we usually head down the night before. With my current schedule, about every 6 weeks, I’m able to get 14 days off with using just one vacation day.

Last I checked you can make ADRs at 180 regardless of whether you have a trip book, though obviously that doesn't help you for your +10. I wouldn't think transferring it has any impact though unless you transfer the same day your ADR 180 date is maybe. I booked my November trip with Chase and had no issues at my 180 date.

I think its rainy season that late in May (double check). If so, I wouldn't go then. We went early April and had fabulous weather. A friend went during rainy season and never even got to see Arenal volcano cause it was socked in the entire time she was there. Plus, driving can be dicey with all the rain and some not so stellar roads.
Rainy season is May-Nov. I guess back to the Hawaii plan. I don’t think we could go during spring break.

Has anyone done this CitiBank offer? Any loopholes or fine print one should be aware of?

  • Open a new checking and savings account in the Citibank Account Package between 4/1/18-6/30/18.
  • Within 30 days of opening your account deposit $15,000 New-to-Citibank funds into the checking and/or savings account.
  • Maintain a minimum balance of $15,000 in your eligible linked checking and/or savings account for 60 days.
  • Get $400 deposited to your account!

We just showed one room key for all of us. I think they are just confirming that you're guests. No need to show one for each person.

i called the Palazzo a little bit ago..Guy said it's 'fire code' that prevents them from putting 6 people in the room, despite the sleeping spaces for 6. I so do not believe that. Debating whether we just go for it. It's only one night so not like we will have to try to sneak in and out all week. Or the Hyatt works too, and includes breakfast, just not quite as glamorous or 'wowing' to my kids.

I feel like I am doing this kind of thing every other day now. I'm distracted and busy lately and having trouble keeping it all straight!

I am thinking of pulling the trigger on this one too.

I think I'm going to do a $1000 payment to my student loan on my CIP next week to finish off the MSR. Makes me nervous to see so much leave my bank account at once, but there's no point in accruing 1% interest on it in savings while I'm accruing 5% in student loan interest. I think I'll have about $300 left on my MSR after that which I'll finish off pretty easily.

So, even though you booked your package with Chase, did it all work the same when you log in to the Disney website to make your ADRs? Did you book +10?

Yup. I got my confirmation e-mail from Chase with my Disney number while I was still on the phone with the rep. Plugged into MDE with no issues whatsoever. I'm only there for 2 nights starting on a Thursday, but I booked a reservation for that Friday on my 180 day.

I think the only issues people have had booking at Disney with Chase is when they've tried to purchase tickets only. I booked a hotel room only and I'm buying one day tickets at some point this summer. Booking a hotel/tickets package will work fine though. The only reason I didn't is because you can't purchase a package with only 1 day tickets, which is what I needed.
