I love credit cards so much!

Ahhh - no wonder I couldn't find availability when I was looking yesterday. We are toying with the idea of going back to Costa Rica instead of CA, and I was having a heck of a time finding points availability. Not much gets under my skin in this game, but this really ticks me off!
Yeah mommy points did a blog post on this resort a few weeks ago. That couldn’t have helped availability as she advertised that she spent spring break there with her family “for free”. I bet you lots of people awash in UR are trying to book this resort on points.

So, I finally got the letter from Chase about my CIP shutdown and it doesn't say anything at all. "After careful consideration, we closed your credit card account because our affiliate is ending its banking relationship with you." blah, blah, blah

To reiterate, they only shut down my CIP and not my personal accounts. The last Chase card I opened before being approved for the CIP was July 2015.

So frustrating.....guess I am going to appeal to the Chase Executive Office.

Wow what a lot of nonsense!

If you google the exact wording of the quoted language, you’ll turn up several threads on FlyerTalk and MyFICO with people in your situation. I don’t know enough about your banking relationships and accounts to even begin to guess which reason might be why your business card got shut down but not your personal cards.

I hope this helps and you get to the bottom of this!

Lain - Thanks for the information. I skimmed through the threads on FlyerTalk and MyFICO and it appears those shutdowns were related to MS and multiple chargebacks from the cardholder. Those threads are rabbit holes that I can easily get sucked into for hours, and I will do more research to better understand. I'm racking my brain trying to think if I have done something (even if unintentional) that can be misconstrued to justify this action. I push the envelope on occasion, such as applying with a "business", but I'm not aware of anything that should cause a shutdown.

My next step is to write a letter to the Chase Executive Office and plead my case. Supposedly, they will call me after they have researched my situation further. I've been patiently waiting to get under 5/24 to get in the Chase game and I'm finally here. I think some folks have been successful in having this reversed. so I'm not going down without a fight.

Just catching up after a busy Saturday, including seeing The Incredibles 2!

Ok so I totally missed this info on room checks... what on earth?? How does this work if you’re not in the room at all during the day? DH and are up and at the parks for rope drop, and usually stay until close. We rarely ever do pool time or come back for a nap. I mean, they literally would not be able to find us at our rooms...

Then you'd never be bothered. They just want to come in and look around once a day. It only affected us so much because they decided to always come between 12-4 when I specifically told them not to as DD would be taking a nap.

If you're in a non-DVC room and haven't opted out of housekeeping, then housekeeping will do the room check when they clean your room and it won't affect you at all.

Ohhh ok, I see. I guess I was reading it as like a separate thing they do other than housekeeping. I was thinking it was some sort of bizarre Schrodingers Cat-type scenario where they would only find something of concern if they got into your room, but if they couldn't get in your room then they'd just ignore it lol.

But I definitely agree you should complain about it, @DaveL! That's ridiculous

Room checks started late last year after the Las Vegas shooting when it was discovered that the shooter had stockpiled an arsenal in his hotel room and the Mandalay Bay missed opportunities to catch what the shooter was up to.

When we stayed at Aulani over the holidays last year, Disney was doing room checks already. But we were always out of our rooms when the checks happened, so they never caught us at a bad time. Mousekeeping came in even though we had our Do Not Disturb sign up, and we only noticed because they removed our used towels and refreshed our toiletries if they were running low.

Interesting. We'll be there for two nights in November, but we'll be in HS all day for our full day there and checking out very early the next morning to get over to USO.

I saw those complaints about room checks on the resort thread. We are going for 10 days in January so my girls can run the marathon. I decided
to rent a condo partly because I'm not feeling the room checks and partly just for more room.

Interesting about the Mandalay bay thing. My husband is a VIP there and always given one of the 2 bedroom suites (same as shooter). We went
last week and i piled a bunch of stuff in the closet in a way I could tell if housekeeping bothered it. It was the same each day. So unless dis security
and other hotels are unzipping suitcases I wonder what this does.

One of my biggest nightmares is something happening at a Disney Park or Hotel. No matter how grumpy or tired everyone is from flight once we enter Disney the family
is all smiles again.

Ever since you posted about Costa Rica I have been keeping an eye out for Andaz. I'm hoping this is a temporary thing they are
doing because I looked couple months ago for 2019 and there were rooms available for points.

As a follow up, I received two online check in requests this morning (only booked one room) so emailed the concierge to make sure I wasn’t charged for a double booking. He responded that the hotel had given us a FREE second room on the house! He also said I would be “very happy” when I arrived. Wow, I’m just blown away at the gesture. I am paying 6,000 points plus $75 for 2 rooms upgraded to the 10th floor to view the planes.. plus a few surprises they have in store. So awesome.
So the “two rooms” they booked us into is the VIP suite with a runway view and concierge service!!!

We are on the highest floor-10th. In addition to the awesome suite which had a full size fridge, couches and granite countertops, there was a fruit, nut and cheese tray, fresh baked chocolate chip cookies, Perrier water for the adults and organic milk for the kids. They also left us gourmet chocolates, stuffed animals for the kids and a birthday cake and personalized card for my hubby who turns 44 today (I mentioned in the email that we were in town to celebrate DH’s birthday in Disney). We are just blown away by the hospitality. Especially since I paid just 6,000 Hyatt points plus $75 for the stay. I was only expecting a runway view so this is just so...amazing.

We have upcoming stays here in August and November and although we don’t expect to get this treatment again, we have no qualms about staying here again.

Headed to check in at the Grand Floridian.

Wow amazing! Nice way to start the trip. Have a "Grand" time and happy bday/Father's Day to your DH.

ETA: did you book the GF on points?

Ok, I think we're all convinced you're secretly a celebrity in disguise on the DIS!! Glad you had a great start to your trip! Hope you have a great time!

Noticed on the Safeway app as I was doing some grocery shopping that Safeway has two deals for Visa gift cards until 6/30/18:

$15 off when you buy TWO $100 Visa gift cards; and

$10 off when you buy TWO $50 Visa gift cards.

4.95 for the $50's and $5.95 for the $100's. So it basically covers the fees on the 50's and small money maker on the 100's ($3.10).

Even better deal if you’ve still got some room left in this quarter’s Chase Freedom 5x UR grocery stores category.

I like to pick up Visa gift cards when they go on sale like this to shift spend to places that only accept Visa :-)magnify: Costco), or code under a lower bonus category or no bonus.
