V.I.Passholder Nights in MK and EP

I got in! Lol. Got the email while I was at work. I had issues with my son not showing up so I logged out and logged back in with my husbands MDE account and that worked! Registered for the 8/5 event. My husband is supposed to be driving home from a wedding that AM so I hope he’s up for it. Now to find a hotel for Sunday night so I don’t have to drive home at 1 am...

So we now have a trip booked 10 days from now! Nothing like last-minute planning. Out of DVC points, so we booked a cash room on the AP rate at Pop Century. FPs and dining ressies are lined up, and we even grabbed tickets to DAH on Saturday night. We're flying in Friday night (redeemed airline miles) and heading back home Monday morning. Should be a fun "appetizer" before our nine-day trip in September!

That's the first email. There was a 2nd email today that contains the dates.

I didn't receive it until about 20 minutes ago, and unfortunately, it is saying event is already full, but our dates are 9/22 to 9/28, so we can't go anyways.

Thanks!

Passholders have been grumbling for awhile about lack of benefits and perks. It looks like Disney got the message.

Judging by the posts of those who were able to land a slot for one of the upcoming V.I.Passholder events, Disney may be on the right track for keeping those disgruntled Passsholders on board.

Now, Disney just has to do a better job at making sure that anyone who purchased an AP receives emails, so that all Passholders have a fair chance of participating in these special events.

I work 7am to 7:30 pm.....got the email at 2 pm'ish. Came home....ran to computer....ALL THREE EVEN SOLD OUT. Very frustrating. I got shut out of the last even a month ago too......the Passholder Hollywood Studios event. I got to that email 5 hours after I received it. It was sold out.

funny how many extra trips and extensions they got from this thread alone just by offering an AP EMH!

So true. I know some people are really happy about this and some are kind of disappointed because they're missing out. Usually I figured these deals were mostly for locals, but if just a couple of hours of select activities actually generates more visits, they might want to start doing it more often! Certainly we can encourage them!

Yep, this happens to me too. While I appreciate the email, I believe it sells out faster because people post the link on social media which alerts so many people faster than checking emails. I got left out on the morning studio event because I never got the email and don’t hang on FB all the time. I’m actually booked at Bwv in September. As for the evening events, none of my trips overlap with any of those dates because I’m not local. But I did get the emails for that event.

It feels like Disney is testing different things out before GE opens. I'll be their guinea pig, no problem!

We never get any kind of magical resort upgrades or other forms of "pixie dust" on our trips, so I just feel lucky and grateful to get to do these AP events. Feels like we picked the perfect week to go.

lets talk about that....I don't understand why only a certain number of people got the e-mails. Assuming the rest didn't go to spam, I would be less P/O'ed about the lack of events, and much more P/O'd about them holding them and not receiving notification about it. I mean it is 2018, its not like their smoke signal message got lost in the wind.

whats the deal with the seemingly random email delivery?

I honestly think they do it this way to avoid the wesbite crashing.

I may sound cynical but I agree with this. The current blackout calendar runs through June 2019, I think they are starting to play around with ap perks to give us something to do when the blackouts come for GE.
I am a very old ap holder, this is my 19th year of having one. I remember that we had amazing perks, I got to see movies before they were leased (not big blockbusters but like the Tinkerbell movie) got an evening with Steven Davison creator of Wishes and many other fireworks shows, where he explained the flow of the show and reasons for certain fireworks bursts and then we got to watch it with him from a reserved location, we got to meet Dave Goelz creator and muppeteer of Gonzo, he told us stories about working with the muppets, we got to go behind the scenes at AK and visit the gorilla houses and they explained what they do to give them physicals...
not to highjack or steer the thread but Disney really doesn't want to cater to ap's anymore, I get it, I am a local that goes to enjoy their entertainment, rides, shows , for just a couple of hours, without buying anything, I don't even pay for parking so I know they are losing money with me.
I am glad they are coming back with some ap events but I am waiting for the other shoe to drop for Galaxys Edge. I am a Gold ap holder and I am almost completely certain that I will need to upgrade my pass to be able to go into GE when it opens up.
I really don't mean to be a downer, I feel I'm more of a realist in this aspect. Some might ask, why do you keep buying the ap? because financially it makes more sense to me, I get quality entertainment for very little each month, but I have expressed how they are slowly trying to push away ap holders.

I don’t get emails either. It’s poor customer service. I started getting emails within weeks for Universal. When I let my pass expire, I was sent the Floridian emails. When I got a pass again, it instantly changed back to the passholder version. If Univetsal can have such a good system, Disney has no excuse.

I think you’re right. My husband has gold, but the kids and I have silver passes. I 100% believe they’re phasing out the silver pass. We had already planned on going gold when we renew, but these events definitely help that push too.

Was able to get Epcot on 9/6.
What should I expect at this VIP event? How crowded? how long of a wait for attractions? Which attractions will be open?
