The smoking area that really bothers me is the one kind of across from the surfer Goofy, between the 70s and the main hall.

Yeah, I can see why that location might have bothered you. We didn’t like the location of the 50s one between building 1 and 3. Has to pass it multiple times each day. Luckily when we were there there weren’t a lot of people using them, but we were also surprised, by the number of POP employees who were using them.

Atleast the people we saw their were friendly. We did have one incident when with someone smoking outside there room leaning over the railing, when we were leaving our room one morning. I “kindly and politely” mentioned to him that there was a nice smoking area near by and he just mumbled something back. We should have talked to someone at the front desk about it, but we were running late to the busses.

We had issues with this too at the same spot! We took our niece, stayed in the 70s, and I felt bad making her walk by that every time we wanted to go to the main building. I’ve never noticed smoke before at Disney until I stayed at pop. It definitely detracts from the experience.

I'm gonna send my email as soon as I get there on the 26th! I'm allergic to something in the smoke and I cannot be close to a smoke section at all!

Funny thing - we were there 15 nights this summer and we luckily never saw anyone smoking. I see there is a smoking section near our bldg 4 lake view room too. Maybe it is beneficial to have the 15’s there if only for that reason.

Just an FYI ,
We are here now, and they are not quite done with renovations yet.
We are in the 50's section and it appears all the rooms are done, but they are still working on the exterior of some buildings.
They are painting/refinishing the big icons on the buildings (dancers,records,trasistor radios, etc) .
So be prepared for some construction lifts and crews for a little while still .

Here at pop now - first time in preferred pool view (only category available when I booked) and I wouldn’t not stay in this area again too noisy I like my building 10 end by lake area much better. But it’s disney and vacation and still amazing! Had three issues upon arriving but all were rectified by time we returned from Epcot. I do like being able to just walk over to AoA for food and drawing classes made for a nice relaxing morning before MNSSHP tonight

Here now! We have a lake view room in building 4. Probably the perfect location for us! Only bummer is we have a ton of mosquitos outside the room that get in any time the door is open so we have to run in and out of the room quick. Other than that no issues other than they didn't ask about housekeeping when we checked in, but we went back once we returned from Epcot!

I don't think they put it in the rooms. I know when we were at AoA in June, there was a card in our room that said there was complimentary mosquito repellent available at the front desk.

I would stop at the front desk and let them know about the mosquitos (don't call -- you'll just get a call center off property even though you *think* you're talking to the front desk). They might be able to do something about them. And we also found our lake view room in building 4 to be the perfect location for us when we were in that building! It was our first stay at Pop (14 years ago, lol.) and we were very spoiled by that location. At the time, that was a preferred location and we, for whatever reason, were given a free upgrade to that building...and got the connecting rooms we requested to boot! We've been in two other buildings at Pop since then and neither one lived up to that location. We jumped over to AoA once that resort opened since we always needed 2 rooms at Pop, but once we're down to only traveling with 2 kids, we'll probably go back to Pop. And I'm going to do everything I can to get one of those lake view rooms in building 4 (or 5)!!

I don't think they are mosquitoes. I noticed them in our room this week and we were lakeside. I live in the South so I know my mosquitoes. They are about the same size but they are brown in color rather than black. Basically, they come in to die. They have not bitten us (and mosquitoes love my daughter-she got bit 37 times once) and I usually find their little corpses on the sink in the bathroom in the morning.

They have insect repellent in the laundry rooms. It is in a giant dispenser with a pump. It is also complimentary.

Hopefully you will! If they responded that quickly it sounds like things are already in the works. I'm always amazed how quickly things change at Disney. Let's hope this is one of them!
