I did think about it but read it takes even more miles. And then the time thing. Can't do it all in one trip. Maybe I'll have to take that one off the table for now. We have way more MRs than URs, too, not that that seems to matter since this one is hard to book. I see AA and Qantas fly there from SFO and LAX, but I never see people saying they were able to book seats.

i dont know how much time you have but this could be an interesting trip if u do ANA Around the World Ticket...

You are absolutely correct on my account. Pretty sure there is no way I want to fly from MD to CA to Japan (or anywhere in Asia) to SYD. MD to CA to SYD is already a very long way.

Does it help to go through Honolulu? I've not looked at Australia, it's on the list but several years from now.

It's already so much flying. Just the thought makes me cringe. DH and DD haven't been there, so I'm really just trying to see if there is a way we can go. I'm good not going back (not that it wasn't an awesome trip).

That's the big question. My first trip was more than 5 weeks long. There is little chance that either DD or DH could go for more than 2 weeks. I'm not in any hurry, so I'll keep reading. Around the world sounds like so much flying. I really don't like flying but I do like traveling so I put up with it.

I was looking at that, or at Tahiti, but it looked like it would be even harder to find seats that way. Although it would be a wonderful way to break up the flights.

Is there less options from HI to Australia than LAX or SFO? Because I would think there'd be more options to get to HI on miles and then spend a night and fly some more. I have a friend that's in NZ now and she went via SE Asia but had a family wedding to go to first. But I would thing if you could get to Singapore or Hong Kong there'd be lots of flights since those are places Australians vacation for shorter trips then at least you aren't going as far north as Tokyo. And HK DL :)

Stopped at Kroger for $170 in gift cards for 4x fuel points, for my ebay win and for some headphones DH wants... and forgot to use Discover! D'oh! For whatever reason I got it in my head to use his SW biz, so at least the MSR is done on that now. I think it will be in time for the SUB to post with statement close

I'm not sure if there are fewer flights or the issue is getting them all to line up on the right days. It's all hypothetical now, but I was reading online and checking different routes online, but then read that the award seats are really tough to get. Plus direct flights are so much easier in terms of not missing connections and all that fun stuff.

Love your milk carton post, BTW.

Turns out I'm hitting my SW Personal spend earlier than expected, so I went ahead and applied for the CSR. Sitting here calling the status line every 5 minutes, getting the 30 day message....

If I were *hypothetically* going to try it, does the MDD depend on both cards being applied for AND approved within 24 hours (but on different calendar days)? (<-If this is verboten to talk about here due to a RAT, let me know!)

Finally caught up, you all have been busy with Marriott this morning. Had my yearly physical this morning and they had to do the blood draw from my hand, which is now a bit sore. Gotta love veins that hide and don't cooperate, though it's never been this bad before.

I think we should change it to on Wednesday's we wear Mickey to make it more topical, plus I've got him on today and no pink.

I think it's through Disney Dining so it would code as dining. I've always used gc to pay for dessert parties so I can't go back and check, hopefully someone will know for sure.
Still catching up. I’ll eventually catch up

If you are calling Disney dining and prepaying it codes as 1x csr. Only at restaurants have I had it charge as 3x. (They had to credit my csr as I was paying with Disney gift cards. Getting chase to credit me back since the original was at 1x and the credit codes at 3x that was a pain)

On Reddit..it seems to be YMMV between 24 hours and just different calendar days

Next time you go, do it. It's classic and very, very special. When you know the history, it's all Walt and that is so enduring.
DS had no patience for anything like that when he was little. So we have never done shows or non-ride attractions. He is a total thrill seeker and frankly enduring a whiny 4 or 5 yr old was not worth it. Even last year at 8, almost 9,we did Finding Nemo The Musical and he kept asking if we could leave or when it would be over. We’ll be there end of March and he’ll be newly 10, so I think he can tolerate a bit more (or just suck it up)

I am not sure. When DH and I went in 2000 on Quantas, it was direct from LAX to SYD and back. We didn’t actually mind the 11-12 hr flight. The hardest part was just the connection in LAX since we flew SW from BWI, had to get our luggage and book it to the International terminal and check-in for SYD. That was just too hectic. This time I would definitely spend the night in LA going and coming.
