Dear Chase Travel Portal, why can't I book this room for 2 adults and 2 kids?! Ugh.

The King room is about 8600 points. Both rooms are 25K Marriott points. Marriott says the king has a pull out and we'll be using an air mattress anyway. I could always take 2. Would you just book it for 2 adults and 1 kid? It's for softball tournament, the hotel is going to be overrun by kids anyway.

I have to hold off until we know this hotel is where we're staying since these are all non-refundable, what's up with that?! Three price points ($129, $139, $149) and all look exactly the same.
I had this happen when we were spending a night in Vegas this past summer. A couple of the rooms I was looking at had bed capacity for 6 (2 QNs, 1 QN sleeper sofa) but room occupancy limit was 4. I called the hotels directly and was told it was due to fire code. So even though there was bedding for 6, they would not allow over 4.

An occupancy of 3 seems pretty weird though.

Glad they found them. Now I would call guest relations and tell them your situation. There’s no reason they shouldn’t give you something especially since you will be without your bags for over 24 hours. I’ve never had them give points but they have given luv vouchers. Those do expire 1 year from date received. They should also give you $50 as day reimbursement for lost bags. Your DH could go buy a new workout outfit and they will refund up to $50 a day. DH had his bag lost a few months ago and was able to get everything refunded up to $50
I contacted them on Twitter and the guy said to fill out a bag claim form. I'm going to email them and see what response I get there, but Dh seems like he just doesn't even want to fool with it.

Got all my 1099s from AMEX and Chase.

I keep track of all activity by card number all year so it was easy to reconcile. Two Chase items came in $100 less, so...yay!

The one that burns me is my Hilton came in at $550 BUT I only got 30k in Hilton referrals throughout the year. I SHOULD have maxed but the others never posted and I just let it go. Now I'm sitting on a $350 tax obligation but didn't get my 52,500 Hilton points UGH. I guess my options are:
1) Just let it go, eat what will be ~$100 in tax obligation (but less if I take into account the $200 missed by Chase)
2) Argue with AMEX to try to get my 52,500 Hilton points
3) Adjust the value on the tax return but I'd prefer not to deal with that hassle if it ever turned into an audit

Otherwise, I'm glad that I can reconcile it all...now to just deal with the aftermath of owing some taxes vs. a small refund.

Option 2! I am always down to argue about something I am deserving. If nothing comes of it, then it just becomes option 1. lol

I would avoid option 3 like the plague as you mentioned. I had to deal with the IRS for a form an institution reported incorrectly and it took months. Wasn't an audit, but a "proposed change." It eventually worked out in my favor, but it was not fun!

I've never done a points/cash booking before. Do they take the points from your account immediately and you're billed the cash rate when you stay? This might be a good option for me booking for Japan in 2020 as I'm not sure how many Hilton points I'll have when I need to book.

I can hook you up with a horse if you get the itch, haha! I told DH the only tattoo I would ever get would be Olympic rings if I qualified. I don't think just attending in 2020 is quite the same though, so no tattoos for me!
Yeah they took the points from our account immediately and we aren't charged the cash amount until we get there. It's really nice because we can keep acquiring points until our stay in June. We basically have gotten enough points to pay for 5/6 nights of our stay. So right now we are only paying around $250 for our stay.

Well this is a fun warning on TaxAct...

Please confirm that the income on this Form 1099-MISC is non-business income
I confirm that the income reported on this Form 1099-MISC is non-business income and is not subject to self-employment taxes.

Warning! If the income on this Form 1099-MISC is self-employment income, and you indicate that it is not subject to self-employment taxes, you may be subject to penalties and interest by the IRS.

This definitely shouldn't be self-employment income...but boy they make me feel like a criminal claiming it that way!

I vote option 2 as well! The 1099 means AmEx tracked the referral. They should also be able to see that it wasn't awarded. Hopefully it's an easy fix!

Hey y'all,

Southwest Hawaii test flight tomorrow!!

“With the successful tabletop accomplished, I can now confirm that we are slated to perform a long range navigation and communication validation flight from Oakland to Honolulu on Tuesday, February 5, barring any unforeseen changes,” a spokesperson for the airline told TPG in an email on Monday.

Another vote for Option #2. Number 3 would be my last choice.

The same thing came up on turbo tax

worth a shot worse case you don't get anything but $200 in vouchers isn't nothing. typically they give $100 voucher per person. I look at it as free airfare to disney :-)

@Haley R remind of how you're flying to Japan? I'm starting to play with how to book my flights with AA Miles through JAL. I would have to connect through Heathrow most likely. I'm just wondering what your fees and taxes looked like if you used points.
We booked through Virgin Atlantic with United Miles and it's an ANA flight. I just went back to my email and it looks like we paid $680 in taxes and fees which seems like a lot, but I'm not going to complain since that's all we had to pay to fly RT in business class to Japan. We are flying out of LAX nonstop. We then booked our flights to/from LAX through Southwest on points and those flights have 1 stop. We decided we would rather have the 1 stop and get to fly out of our local airport rather than drive 5 1/2 hours to Chicago for a nonstop flight. Does this help? Let me know if you have any other questions

We DVR the game and don't start watching until about an hour in so we can skip past lame commercials, time in between plays, and the halftime show.
We watched it on the CBS app through my dad's Directv account. We don't actually have any kind of tv provider, just Netflix (which is also my dad's lol). I used to watch it for the commercials, but I feel like the last few years they have been terrible and not worth watching

convenient how they can track it so well when it comes to blabbing to the IRS when it suits their own situation but not so much when it comes to actually paying you said money. seems a little like fraud there. while you were away there was a small string of DP's on r/churning for people getting checks for previously missed referrals on closed cards or emails stating an adjustment to current accounts for the same. maybe you are a part of that?

if you're going to pay for it, you should actually have the money first. Don't be me where I paid tax on "interest" income I never actually received from an incredibly ill conceived bank promotion I stupidly allowed to happen. I'd at least contact AmEx and see what's up.

Yes, last few years the quality has gone down on the commercials. IMHO. Maybe it's because I'm getting older.
I thought it was free to stream on the CBS and NFL apps without any tv provider attached???
