***Official*** Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge Information Thread *** Contains SPOILERS ***

I am still in shock that the land is opening so early! Now I am curious about how things are going to play out. Will ROTR be open for November? Will Fastpasses be open by then? Will I be able to even get near HS during our vacation?

I have the same questions. :)

I wouldn't worry about the "select" term. They use that term to describe EMH everywhere on their site, not just for Galaxy's Edge. It will probably be the same as any other EMH.

Yup - I recall the same debate when they announced that there would Elbe evening EMH for every night for Pandora when it first opened and it said “select” and people were worried - but turned out to be the same as regular access to EMH

Those hours were great too. Managed to do Flight of Passage 12 times over a few of them a few weeks after opening without waiting very long. Hopefully since there’s “no fastpass+” for the falcon the line will move quick enough.

My guess (pure guess). There is no FP+ for MF:SR until at least the opening of ROTR. At that time, ROTR won't have FP+ my guess until say after the holiday season. OR, maybe no FP+ until after the holiday season in general. All guess.

Just curious about availability for that weekend (definitely not for myself - we're going down from 8/10-8/19 and are not that close - Delaware) because I was curious if people were jumping all over hotel reservations for then. Somebody can still get a heck of deal for that - Pop has standard rooms still available with the Sun & Fun: 8/28-9/2 for only $113/night.

I think it depends on which resort. I attempted to book the YC CL as soon as the date was announced and the confirmation page went into perpetual load. I finally gave up and tried booking again and it was sold out. BWI standard was available as well as the BC, so chose BWI. Checked not long ago and the BC was sold out. The Epcot resorts are going to be tough to come by.

Rather than making "Smugglers Run" no fastpass, I think it would be better to make it only fastpass. That would let the same number of people per day experience the attractions and no one would have to stand in a four+ hour line.

Assuming (could be a mistake, but looking like a safer assumption now given the announcement coupled with the testing that's been going on) that Skyliner is open, I think that really makes those Skyliner resorts a strong choice, especially for those going for Galaxy's Edge, especially since they are still priced pre-Skyliner and pre-Galaxy's Edge. Caribbean is also very attractive since there's no switching lines - just a single stop to DHS. I'd be very surprised if those resorts don't start going quickly.

Yep we switched to POP for our Thanksgiving trip a month ago. Glad we did it then.

But that really wouldn't be fair. That looks at it from a different angle I'll give you that.

Like it or not for the vast vast majority of folks Standby is still possible. Shut out people who don't know about FP, don't use FP, can't get a FP, max out on their FP because of rules put in place for APs, etc and my goodness how terrible that would be for people to not be able to ride it if FP was the only option, at least IMO.

AP and Florida resident...Having second thoughts...I was already booked AoA for Labor Day weekend. I thought it would be a fun, pool weekend. I am so excited by the date announcement that I booked BW club level, thinking I would totally splurge and buy the CL fp. Now, we've learned that FP will not be available and ONLY Smuggler's will be up and running. We go to Disney a lot and LOVE it, but we already have a couple other weekends planned and a longer weekend when out of state friends are visiting in October (really hoping both rides are up then). I'm thinking of dropping BW and doing a value just Wednesday night so we can be there for the opening. That way my kids would only miss Thursday of school and not Friday too. More driving, but I know they are going to miss some days in January, so I want to minimize the days they are missing. I really want to be a part of Opening Day. I feel like it will be something they look back on in awe!

Switch to a value? Splurge on club level? (It was mostly purchasing fp related and thinking both rides would be ready.)

Soooo...are we thinking yes or not that they will do the reservation thing at WDW like they are doing at Disneyland? We had already booked a couple of nights at the Poly Sept 30-Oct 2 with the intention of just doing MNNSHP but now of course we are going to have a day at DHS! I am kinda hoping they do the reservations for on property guests, maybe it will help keep the crowds manageable. :confused3

The Disney parks article stated they would not require a reservation for WDW.

The DHS tab on the main WDW site has been updated https://disneyworld.disney.go.com/destinations/hollywood-studios/star-wars-galaxys-edge/
and this is what the app looks like
