I like to meet MSR as fast as possible on my cards lol. I'm planning on knocking out the vast majority of DH's CIU MSR with a $2000 Disney payment. I'm dying to get this Citi AA biz done once I get my tax refund.

Speaking of tax refunds... anyone else here have to mail theirs? We mailed ours three weeks ago and it's not even showing up on the status checker :( We got our state refunds a week ago. I'm starting to get nervous that it doesn't even show up on the status checker, even though it says around 6 weeks for refunds when mailed. Probably overreacting, I'm just always nervous when it comes to taxes!

Did you sent them in with tracking ? I have to mail a lot of quarterly tax payments and returns for my boss and use tracking...don’t want the IRS saying they didn’t receive something

A lot of the houses I've seen don't have front porches. That would help some, but I need me some green space. These houses I've been looking at are just too close together. I swear we could touch the other person's house if we stuck out the window lol. It's just not for us. I've never seen that style of a house before.
I'm guessing it is regional. Our neighborhood is something you'd see on a TV show...has that picture perfect tree lined street. We have a grassy yard too, so thats not an issue. I think you either love it or hate it...not many people are in-between. I am the former and you are the latter. :thumbsup2

I spy with my little eye...2 Barclay Aviator cards on my informed delivery email!!! While having a lot of MSR at once requires some additional planning, I like that I'm not cutting it close and forced to put spend on a non bonus card. I hate that feeling (and I know many here do) of waiting on a card in the mail when you have some potential large spend coming up.

Random question - when you're prepaying things to meet your MSR do others just feel tempted to pay it early? I plan to cap off our CIC by prepaying our Comcast bill. I have until mid-May to meet the spend on the card so there's literally no reason to pay it now and yet I truly feel tempted daily to just pay it and be done with it. It DOES NOT really make sense though to do that. What if some unexpected expense comes up, and now instead of still having $1,500 on my CIC to meet the MSR I don't. I'm also planning to hit the spend on these Aviator cards through prepaid utilities, and again I'm tempted to just pay it all today and be done but there's no real reason to do so.

So far I haven’t had to prepay anything to meet a MSR...but we are usually only working on one MRS at a time

Yeah, I think they are terrible. When we upgrade to a single family home backyard space is one of the important things on my list. I wish they built half as many houses on the land around here and let people have yards.
funny.... we've been our current place for 17 years..... when we sold our previous home, it was less than 5 years old, new construction but stuck on a TINY lot between older homes. Big mistake on our parts. We last about 4 years, then sold it and bought a home in the same town, built in the 60's,needed updating, but came with a lovely acre yard and surrounded by woods on 3 sides....best decision we made to raise our kids 'wild'. They spent countless hours in the back woods playing with the neighbor kids, building forts and damming our little stream, catching frogs etc. I wanted them to have a childhood like I had....lots of outdoor time and freedom.Totally prefer older build sites that give some privacy and green space over new homes with no land at all. Now that the we don't have little kids anymore, we still love our place but may choose elsewhere with less outside work later on.

I'm right there with you on that one. You're right, it doesn't really make sense, but I just like to have to done...BUT then I think, I don't have an MSR what can I get?! I'm still waiting for my CIC to come in the mail, just so I can prepay my utilities. Yeah, doesn't make much sense, but I know I'll do it. Prepay close to $1000 in utilities, $2000 PNC savings account and be done with it. I'd like to say I'd keep some left for our vacation coming up on Saturday, but that will be either dining or travel and go on the CSP. Hopefully I can at least get some restaurant gift cards with it to use on vacation.

These are Aviator Biz cards - $1,000 MSR

I am not a fan of prepaying...don't know why. For $1000 MSR I'd rather get a money order and be done with it.

Still no response from Citi on my request for the points match for my AA Biz, either by mail, or by SM. :-(

Me either. I chat and sm. Chat says they will “put in a request” but nothing ever happens.
Me neither. How long are you waiting to ask again?

With utilities that charge a flat fee it makes sense to pay a large amount. I pay water, electric & gas in 1-2 payments each year, thus only paying the $4.50 or $1.95 CC charge once (vs. paying it monthly if I did it that way).

With my cable bill, this is a 5x UR play. I know I'm going to pay $1,500 the rest of the year. Why not just earn 5x URs on my CIC now. Then I won't have that bill to deal with the rest of the year either.

It is kind of funny to hear coworkers talk about bills though because I can't identify at all. They have like a dozen monthly bills and I'm thinking I pay maybe 20 bills a year, LOL!

I actually love it, haha. I just like not having to pay any bills monthly :)

I can’t decide between this and the other prevailing theory on Reddit, that Amex upset enough of their customers who took their complaints to the CFPB or arbitration that forced Amex to revisit their legal position. Either way, I’m glad it looks like it worked out in our favor.
I'm gonna go with your theory.

Applied for DW’s CIP#2 yesterday morning using my link, and it’s been approved overnight!

This is DW’s third open Chase biz card; with a CIU approved in 9/18, and a CIC approved in 12/18. CIP#1 was closed in 10/18 after one year when the AF hit. CIP#2 has only a $5k CL, but that’ll work!

Special thanks to @SouthFayetteFan for being my sounding board. I went back and forth between the United Biz 75k miles offer and CIP#2 for a combined 100k UR. The math was too obviously in favor of CIP#2 even with a $95 AF compared with the United Biz’s first year AF waived. While my wife does fly United quite a bit when she travels for work, she’ll get almost no benefit from the United Biz that her company wouldn’t otherwise cover as an expense. So if we’re just going by the SUBs (because let’s be real, Chase has nerfed the heck out of the CIP for any ongoing bonus category spend), the CIP’s 100k UR easily wins out.

YAY!

Congrats!! party:

This was with SSN? Any variation with middle name?

Have read that the $5000 CL means you should lower total CL on the next app. Maybe you've come across that info already. :)

The variation with middle name isn't required. It's funny, but this reddit obsession with EIN also isn't required. I don't know how it took this long to figure out, but you can just get multiple CIPs with the same name and SSN. It's likely that it has always been this way, but people thought EIN was a way around a rule that wasn't enforced. And then people thought Middle Name or Middle Initial variation was a way around a rule that STILL wasn't enforced.

The truth is...CIP doesn't enforce a 24 month rule. It's crazy...but true! Your only limit appears to be your velocity with Chase and how far you really want to push the limit and abuse what seems to be a loophole. I think for our purposes here, we'll hesitate to openly recommend doing more than 2 CIPs in a short time span. We don't want to contribute to killing this and we don't want to advise people to anger Chase to a point of blacklisting or claw-backs.

No, we didn't. We've always done just regular mail and never had any issues. I'm wondering if maybe they're just backed up still from the shutdown? If my refund isn't here in another 3 weeks then I still have time to resend them before the deadline in case they got lost for some reason. I just find it hard to believe that BOTH of ours got lost yet both of our state showed up no problem when all were mailed at the same time.

I grew up in a great planned community in Virginia that feels like the best of both worlds. My parents have almost a half acre of land. It's still in essentially the same kind of neighborhood I'm in now, elementary school, pools, bike trails, lakes. But so many more trees! And you can't touch or even really see, your neighbors house while standing in your driveway haha. I would honestly love to move back there.

Then they'd make half as much money...

Yup. Greedy developers. Bulldoze acres of orange groves and put in almost as many houses as there were trees.

So do you ever run out of spend? As in, have paid all the bills for the year so can not get another card.

I love the idea of this, but the execution doesn't work, at least in this area, for me. The problem with it is not the older home that you renovate...I'd actually love that. I'd also love a single level home, which is near impossible to find in new construction these days. The problem, is these older neighborhoods have no HOA and CCRs. I can't deal with someone's boat parked in their yard, or a shed out back, or unkempt lawns. No way. Would make me nutso. As you can see, aesthetics are way high on my list of priorities. I want a strict HOA, very strict.

Eh - these greedy kids keep eating food and needing clothes, LOL! So that continues to support MSRs (about $800 per month in the regular monthly stuff that I can't prepay). I also know that auto/homeowners comes up in the March-May time frame (and auto again around Oct). Also we have our larger property tax bill due in August so that helps with another large MSR then. I can still hit many MSRs throughout the year but it seems normal for us to hit a few larger ones in the first quarter when I'm knocking things out for the year like this.
