Disney's POLYNESIAN VILLAGE RESORT Information & Questions

No, this was actually in the garden view category. The photo was taken from the 3rd floor of the Hawaii building.
Nice! We have standard view booked. I sure hope we don't get a room facing the parking lot or just another building.

We had a standard partial lagoon view from our Tokelau studio which was uh-mazing. I was curious before we arrived what the view would be like but we were so amazed. It was so nice being able to watch the fireworks from our room at night. We’re pretty much spoiled for any other resort now.

WOW....great to see the Oasis pool has umbrellas by the loungers. It was under construction the last time I stayed at the Poly and the volcano pool area definitely did not have umbrellas other than at the few tables. Does the Volcano pool area have more umbrellas now?

In Minnie1222's picture above, it looks like there are at least two padded lounge chairs but maybe I'm seeing things.

I just bit the bullet and went ahead and ordered one for our actual anniversary day. It was $58.58 total. They said if we want to cancel or only want it for half day, we need to call within 24 hours of reservation. They also said be there at 9:45 a.m. It we don't show up by 10:00, they can rebook it with someone else.

This was surprising, but they also asked if we were staying at Polynesian, which we are. They said it wasn't necessary - just as long as we were staying somewhere onsite. I guess that is one way a family staying at a value resort can enjoy a deluxe resort for the day. Also, only six people can enjoy one cabana. If you have more in your party, you have to rent two or more depending on the amount of people in your party.

I am so glad you posted about being told they could give your reservation out if not there by 10am.
I called a few days ago and reserved for late July. The cost was $75 for all day. (I assume your date is earlier and that's why cheaper?) He did mention checking in at 9:45am, but did not say we could lose the reservation if not there by 10am! I'll make sure we don't dawdle. :)

Thank you !
Oasis Cabanas do not include loungers but you can surely pull a couple up if available.

Nope thats all of the on-menu desert items and that's the lunch menu only.

You won't see pool floats or noodles for sell anywhere on Disney property. They are not allowed in their pools. Life jacket are available free of charge at all Disney pools.[/Q

I have seen beach balls for sale in the resort shops, but no other kind of floats that I recall. I've never seen anyone with them at other pools but I do know that noodles are allowed in Stormalong Bay at BC (unless something has changed since July). We just bought a couple at Publix as we were getting groceries.
Thanks! I may pick up a few. We are headed to the beach after so we can always use them there if they aren’t allowed in the Poly pool.

Good info; thanks for the reply! That’s a great price on the full day rental. Enjoy your anniversary Cabana, what a fun day![/QUOTE]

Our Cabana rental is late August. Actually, the day that we reserved is the beginning day of the lower rate so we lucked out there!

For those renting the cabanas- what all is included? And you can do half day and full day, correct?

Nothing is included. From the previously posted pictures, it appears that they put towels on the chairs and that is it. You are just paying for a guaranteed seat in the shade.
Yes, you have the option of half day or whole day. It is recommended to book whole day and later, if you decide you only want half day, cancel within 24 hours of reserved date.

“Cabana” is really the wrong term for the Oasis Patios, at least for Disney standards. GF, CR, and now YC/BC have legit “cabanas” with canopies, sides that can be closed for a bit of privacy, refrigerators with drinks, fruit plates, etc. GF cabanas come with sunscreen, lotions, etc .

Even the ‘guaranteed shade’ can be a bit misleading as certain times of day/seasons can have more sun than not given the peaked roof design (but it is mostly shaded most of the day for practical purposes).

But, they are a very attractive fraction of the cost of those ‘real’ cabanas, which is nice.

Like ginny said I would suggest booking a whole day, it’s really not much more and you can always downgrade to a half day. We got one for a full day before doing MNSSHP back in October and it was well worth it even though it was overcast. The lounger was so comfy I actually fell asleep on it.

You don’t get anything extra included like s real cabana but it was nice having a place to eat. There’s a cast member around the pool who will bring you food and drinks from the Oasis bar and that was basically our meal before the party.

Unless something changed since last August, we didn't have to be there by 10:00 a.m. You have reserved/paid for the patio for the day or half day and I don't think they give it away. I would ask the recreation staff onsite. As I posted previously (maybe in the GF thread) we seemed to have issues/frustrations with booking/answering questions, etc with the CM by phone but had awesome experiences with the Poly recreation staff that mans the patios! We had patios for about 6 days when we stayed last august and were NEVER there by 10:00 a.m. as the whole idea of same was to just have a home base for when we returned to the resort during the day!

For buildings with standard views: Would you request Niue or Rarotonga? Samoa is all pool view now, right?

Our last Poly stay was in the Hawaii building and we loved the location. We have also stayed in Fiji and much preferred the location of Hawaii. (Not booking just yet, but we've decided on Poly once we narrow down our dates & might not be able to do CL on this trip.)

Personal preference of course, but I’d vote Rarotonga. I like being on that side of the resort, close to the bus stop, a touch closer to the TTC, 5 steps from the GCH, etc.

Or just go with CL and don’t worry about it. :littleangel:

I agree with @GADisneyDad14 about Rarotonga. I got a great view in Aotearoa when I requested Rarotonga once because Aotearoa had a standard view room ready, but I missed the location of Rarotonga. It really can't be beat. To add-on, its location is also great if its raining because you can make it pretty much anywhere without getting soaked :thumbsup2

Here's the thing, we have a 3-night comp stay to book through Disney guest services. (That's a story for another day!) The offer is for a "garden view" room at any deluxe. I assume that = "standard view" at Poly now.

I don't know how long we're staying yet -- honestly, I'm waiting to see if any late spring/early summer DAH dates are announced before we book anything -- but for those three nights, at the very least, we'll probably be in a standard room. :charac2:

Is there anything wrong with Niue next door? Or is Rarotonga just slightly preferred?
