Are Self-Driving Ride Vehicles Coming to Universal Orlando?

Wow, that blows my mind! There's so much to work out. A lot of "what if's" to consider.
I don't know; I just can't visualize it at this time. But I wouldn't be surprised if technology takes us there at some point.

Perhaps something they are looking to implement in the new park they are building.

I could see something like this being easier to implement if they are building a park with this tech in mind from the start, as opposed to them trying to wedge it into their existing parks.

I see this making more sense in terms of going from park to park, not attraction to attraction, unless the attraction is from another park. Also, they would have to charge in order to prevent everyone from literally just hopping onto these ride vehicles at any chance they get. It already feels crowded enough as it is some days, I can't imagine vehicles being thrown into the mix.

However, if this is done at the new park and the lands, attractions are designed for this, as well as there is a dedicated lane, or line dedicated to these specific vehicles I can see how this can work.

Kong and Fast and Furious already use self driving vehicles, but this seems to be for longer distance. I can see them building dedicated lanes for these to the new park, or maybe even to Volcano bay from the garage in place of the buses.

I don't see this ever working.

Can you imagine how many individual "cars" would be needed. Take a look at the parking lots. There would be no room for people.

Not to mention, there are going to be some people that can't follow rules or understand simple directions.

And how many people are willing to load up one of these "cars" with their purchases. What happens when it is not where it is suppose to be when you get there?

It is nice to think about living in a "Jetson's" world, but I know it will never happen in my lifetime.

This could be useful when the 4th gate opens. Just have a dedicated self-driving vehicle lane to take you from park to park.

That is the only possible use I can see for it, but I was hoping they were planning to extend hogwarts express for that.

I don't see this as being used for park to park for the 4th gate. All the permits filed/approved don't have dedicated lanes that run from the current parks to where the 4th gate is. There will only be *some* dedicated bus lanes that are close to the 4th gate, but not a fully dedicated road system all the way between.

If they're opening/adding new resorts next to or near the 4th gate, I could see it perhaps being used for that. From the potential new 4th gate resorts to the new 4th gate.

When you're on a relaxing vacation wandering through the amusement park, who hasn't thought to themselves, "You know what I miss? .... Traffic."

... and those ride vehicles look like they were designed by the same group that gave us the Fast & Furious ride.
