It is weird since he already has a Barclay arrival + but maybe something on the biz side?? He app’ed under the 60k so hopefully he is approved and gets that. I app’ed under the 50k and doesn’t look like they gave me the match. I can see the 50k miles on my statement but it hasn’t hit AA yet. Of course, I will ask again!

We are doing a split stay and we need two rooms so for me, the different mile piles is fine. If you only need one room and you are against split stays, there is probably no reason to get a P2 on the train.

At least you got your 50k - my statement just closed and no bonus points showing. I met MSR 4 days before statement close - maybe it was too close - always seems like Barclays take their time giving me bonuses. :(

I met the MSR 5 days before the statement closed. Not sure where their cutoff is. That totally stinks that you have to wait until the next statement. Were you hoping to use the miles soon?

See the bolded part above. That is the problem. You can't find true Southern sweet tea anywhere but down here. My wife's tea is liquid gold. The only time I have a meal without sweet tea is if I am outside the South, and then I am having withdrawal symptoms. Yes I am a sweet tea addict!

You're probably right regarding that tea. But the food was Awesome!

DH and I are going refrigerator shopping tonight. Does anyone have any good advice on how to maximize the spend? I just got a new CIP and Hilton biz so I will be using one or the other.

Depending on the store, you could buy GCs for that store on Gyft and earn 3x UR by using your CIP via PayPal checkout. However, because this is a purchase of an appliance, I’d hesitate paying with GCs (even for extra bonus spend) instead of directly on a credit card that’ll give you extended warranty protection. Also, if you can order the refrigerator online, you could take advantage of cash back portals like Ebates or Shop Through Chase; alternatively there are some apps that may earn you cash back or points for in store shopping depending on what store you end up buying from.

To bring the discussion back to the full moon..... The moon over part of Cape Town from Lion’s Head. Could have made it even more relevant as the pic DD sent of her and her friend they both had Mickey gear on. Lol. But didn’t want to post a pic of friend without permission.

Is HOA not allowed on Amex via Plastiq? I'm getting an error that it can't be used.

American Express cards are permitted for the following industries:
  • Government
  • Utilities
  • Education
  • Residential Rent
  • Club Fees & Memberships
Wouldn't it be Club Fee & Membership?

Amex has closed So's Green card and the Delta Personal Card he just got approved for. The letter stated he had another card that was not maintained in accordance with the cardmember agreement. Spent an hour on the phone with Amex asking what card and what part of the agreement. Got no answers and kept getting transferred to people that knew nothing. Just filed a CFBP complaint. My second one. The first time a Chase agent said I would be getting a refund of the annual fee for a card. I didn't. they got back to me saying yeah we listened to the recording where the agent said that but too bad she was wrong lol. Hopefully, I have more success this time.

Wow - that's pretty awful of AmEx. Has he cancelled any cards? I can't think what else could be meant by "not maintained in accordance with the cardmember agreement."

He hasn’t cancel any cards yet. He at first mentioned something about the card being outstanding?? Like I owed money and I was like he has not missed a payment on any of his cards. It’s very weird.

I know some have selected club fee & membership for HOAs and slipped the payment through Plastiq’s restrictions on Amex cards that way. Just note that HOA could be considered a real estate related payment that’s not allowed. If Plastiq has your HOA on a blacklist for Amex payments, you may need to modify the recipient name slightly in addition to selecting an allowed category. Plastiq could let your payment through, or put a hold on your payment pending review and request you submit a bill or documentation to show what the payment is for. Good luck!

I agree that paying w/ GC for the extra bonus is not worth it in the case of appliances. It may be tempting, but so many things can go wrong with such a large purchase! If I had used GCs, given how the return and purchase of a replacement fridge worked in my case, I would have been screwed.

I was at F&G on Sunday, and will be going again tomorrow - if you're interested in anything particular, let me know and I'll be happy to hunt it down for you!!
Any food reports/recommendations welcome. I heard the Orange Bird sipper is out already :( Which was the one souvenir I was interested in.

First, I love this place…so friendly and helpful.

Second, I will try to format as per page 1, I think I am currently 5/24 until April 2019 and there is no P2:

  • Open cards older than 2 years include Chase Disney, Fifth Third Mastercard, and Capital One Quicksilver
  • 04/2017 Chase Disney with AF (PC to no fee 04/2018)
  • 06/2017 AMEX Delta Platinum (closed 8/2018)
  • 09/2017 Chase Sapphire Reserve
  • 11/2017 AMEX Delta Platinum Business
  • 01/2018 Chase Freedom
  • 03/2018 AMEX SPG Business
  • 06/2018 Chase Ink Cash
  • 08/2018 Chase Freedom Unlimited

Third, info about me:

  • I have enough monthly spend to meet most sign-up bonus requirements.
  • Pay off all cards every month.
  • Airport: Detroit
  • Delta Skymiles Frequent Flyer Program
  • I have not flown Southwest from Detroit.
  • No hotel preference.
  • 138,287 Bonvoy; 203,104 SkyMiles; 268,237 UR

Travel past:

-Work trips paid for by company (use the company credit card)
-Lots and lots of Disney trips (DVC member, Annual Passholder)
-3 trips to Europe in the past 6 years (last one used Skymiles for flight)
-One independent tour group trip
-Two trips using Globus tours

Travel Goals

-There is a high probability of solo trips
-Annual or multi-annual Disney trips are still a must. It is my happy place
-I want to go back to Europe. I have been to England, Ireland, a bit of Scotland and Italy.
-Next goal is Germany or a river cruise
-I would love to be adventurous like calypso726 but I am leery as a solo traveler!

Wow, that is a lot of words!

I am considering my next steps and here are my thoughts:
  • Apply for AMEX Delta Gold Business for sign up bonus before it expires (can I refer myself for this from the AMEX Delta Plat?)
  • Apply for CIP 05/2019 when I am 4/24.
  • After?
-Other Chase cards?
-Concentrate on AMEX for the MR points to be used for flights?
-Consider cash back cards to offset tour group costs?

I appreciate any input. I have learned a lot from y’all so far and value your experience.

I hope you have better luck than I did. I tried to eat there 2 diff days. The lines were soooo long. If I didn't have DD3 I probably would have been more apt to way, but since it was just me and her that wasn't going to work. I did finally get the shrimp and grits (there's that trend again:goodvibes) from the Florida booth. Yum! There was oddly no line there. Guess it wasn't exotic enough.
Ugh not looking forward to lines. We’ve never had bad lines at F&G or F&W. We do tend to be there more lunchtime but we did a Saturday night at F&W once and I was afraid it was going to be drunken fools and long lines but it wasn’t bad. Fingers crossed The shrimp and grits sound delicious

@calypso726 , thanks for mentioning the Residence Inn New York Manhattan/Midtown East. I just used my 35k FN cert for a Saturday in December to bring my DD to see Rockefeller Center and go to the American Girl Store for her bday. The room would have been $428 before tax!
We are staying April vacation week so I will report back! Location is close to grand central and breakfast is included so I have high hopes. My neighbor stays at this hotel all the time, he gave it a great review. Also if you are thinking of any shows the UR portal has a bunch at really good prices! You can’t pick your exact seat so I’ll report back on that also. We got Lion King tix

Great post....and yes you are 5/24....
I think your plan for the Amex Delta Gold now and CIP in May is a good one.....after that you could go for a 2nd CIP or the CIU....others know more about the Amex business cards and MRs can help with those

URs can be cashed out to help offset tour group costs....but if you can book something with your CSR you get a better redemption

We went to Epcot last Wednesday during the afternoon.....no lines or very short lines at the food booths
