JULY 2019 Rental Car

I have a compact SUV booked for the morning of 7/14 to the evening of 7/21 for $380. Booked with Alamo via Autoslash. It was cheaper than the standard/full size car. Hoping price drops before and I can change reservation.

Just started checking for my July trip. Best I could get for a full size was through carrentalsavers. Budget Full Size 7/2 - 7/6. $209. That's crazy for 4 days. I guess I'll keep looking.

If it makes anybody feel better, rates for May just went down considerably last week or so. It seems like they aren't dropping to acceptable levels until about 4-5 weeks prior. I'm still waiting for June to drop.

I’ve been watching every day or two for the week of July 14th. I have a compact SUV reserved for $395 and I’m hoping it comes down. I don’t need a compact SUV but it worked out cheaper than a standard/full-size car.

Switched to a mid-size at Alamo for $188.06 using AP code and $25 off coupon. Still ridiculous for 4 days.

Looking at a one week rental, middle of July. Checked for a Minivan and it was 780 a week, including taxes with Alamo. That is crazy.

Have you tried checking Autoslash? I have a compact SUV booked for one week + 1 day mid July with 2 drivers for $390. I found the quote for Alamo via Priceline on the Autoslash link.

I hadn't tried that before . Thanks .Tried it this morning and got a much more favorable rate . It was through Priceline. They had a minivan for 13 days including taxes for 675 with Dollar. I have not used Priceline before. Does it work like booking through rental company? It is cancellable too. The company was Dollar. Haven't used them for a while. I usually go through Alamo or National. How is Dollar. I know they are a part of Hertz now .

I have never used Priceline either and this will be the first time. I have only rented with Alamo and Budget before. When I booked the reservation it IS able to be cancelled. I was given a confirmation # for Alamo directly to check my reservation. I will continue to keep checking rates but right now this was the best offer.

Same codes and coupons. Down to $183.20. There was a great rate with Advantage, but I'm scared to use them.
